1st pic is a Blue Azores 8K filled with 50lb Jerry Brown braid w/a 50lb mono top shot. Then I stripped it. Now it’s all Soft Steel 50lb Eminent Braid. I’ll put on 3yd of 50lb Stretchable Fluorocarbon by Soft Steel. That line has been tested to have up to 30% knot strength. 1st Pic- Original Okuma Azores65 spool with 350yd 50lb braid. 2nd Pic- instead of changing the line out after 1yr of high usage I had the original line spooled onto a empty spool, then re-spooled again to another spool, and finally put back onto the original spool. No UV signs. Added 10yd of 40lb of clear mono top shot as the new shock leader. 3rd Pic- The new Azores65. Called the Blue Azores 8K. One of my new Okuma Blue Azores 8K’s. Just had Ken at Charley’s Fishing Supply put on 65lb braid backing with a 40lb mono shock leader. Will try this out. If I like it I’ll put 50lb braid backing on the other Blue Azores 8K w/a mono shock leader. Mounted on a new 12’ MH Cedros Surf Rod. This duo is a proven long distance casting duo! Still have my older 12’ Cedros MH Surfrod w/the original Azores65 (which is now the new Blue Azores 8K). With only a 3oz pyramid I can cast this 100yd no problem! Going to study these stats. I might go all braid on one unit and the other braid backing with a mono top shot. Great surf casting spinners. A step down from the monster Surf 8K in size and line capacity.
