not sure if you’ve heardddddd but i’ve been away nomming in japan… and it’s crazy. i want to say so much about the food here but the down and dirty is that it’s way more of a diet change than i was expecting. i am eating fish every day. and it’s so good but my mercury levels have got to be insane rn. okok on to the few photographs i’ve taken of my meals bc i’ve been way more concerned with eating than documenting recently.

the first thing i ate in japan is airplane food, obviously, but this little miso soup in a cup was seriously the cutest ever. it was exactly what i need. comforting and warm and so so silly conceptually. soothing on an insanely long flight.

the second picture are of these dumplings ella, sam, and i split on a class trip to yokohama. this was not the big meal of the trip, but the big meal we had with “kyle-san” did make me very upset because he was so rude to the waitstaff and his teachings on japanese culture were largely based in stereotype. he also told us the way he “learned” japanese (man can not speak japanese) was through his divorce. which was like. why are you telling us this and also you are so silly you are making me mad. the dumplings were yum, though. yokohama has the biggest chinatown in all of japan and it’s was really cool to visit!

third is bentooo box during school orientation. it was super normal just adorable also as well.

PINOY-JAPANESE FUSION RESTAURANT THAT CHANGED THE GAME. SO YUMMY I LOVED. it was a super random find but it was great and i’m sooo happy that we got to nom. and have a little set! they love little sets here, and i also love it bc variety and many little dishes are my jam.

pancakes pancakes pancakes with ella and shannon. these pancakes were by the coolest artist bookstore in the world and i have to go back. these were incredible but my hot take is that a fluffy pancake is not nearly as good as a thin or flat pancake. the berries were decadent, though. fresh fruit in japan is sadly hard to find and prohibitively expensive.

on the topic of sets, i tried to make my own japanese style breakfast from home. rice and miso soup and soy sauce sardines (and coffee). and it was yummy but i think bc i do eat this for most of my meals i prefer an american breakfast, if only for some variety.

squid and GRILLED MISO??? START GRILLING MISO BC LIFECHNAGING SO GOOD AHHHHHHHHH???? adara and i went to udon place and ordered this bc obviously and yeah it was life changing. we sat in the ground and it was sooo experiencial and epic and yum!

breakfast with annora at little coffee stop by dorm. this was the breakfast we had as she told me about her mount fuji climb which she did super casually by herself in docs. like???? this was insane that she did this, and it meant that when i climbed mt fuji she lent me a bunch of her equipment, so thank youuu annora <3

beach meal! omakasedon awesomeness and yum. will never get over how cheap fish is here and how crazy good it always is.
