The seed vault is just 800 miles away from the North Pole. The facility has been built to preserve seeds: almost every type of seed this planet has to offer has been preserved in it. This has been done to revive species of plants just in case a disaster of a massive scale wipes out botanic diversity from the earth. The vault functions like a regular bank in the sense that governments can send rare plants seeds to be kept safe in this safety vault.
