Terrified by how this is gonna play out. Dragon/oni imagery in ninjago has famously always ended well for the characters involved.

The FSM life is underrated
The FSM father is not the best.
I think there are several reasons for this.
The first is that he had no example of a normal family. In fact, he had no parents either. We just know that the FSM is born from two beginnings (Oni and the Dragons). The only more or less parental figure for the FSM is the Firstborn. But I don't think that's enough to understand the relationship of a normal family.
In fact, the FSM grew up in a perpetual war, and he also tried to stop it (as a child!). So he didn't even have a normal childhood. The Oni side probably saw him more as a force than as a living being. Because when Oni came to Ninjago for the FSM, they had the task of either getting him back or killing him. I mean, literally, it was either we get this power or nobody gets it.
And from all of these factors, the FSM's perception of the world is sharpened differently than a normal person's.
Also, the FSM is not human, they said on Twitter that Oni's psyche works differently, and the FSM is half Oni.
When the FSM has children of his own, he doesn't know how to behave properly. He had no childhood and grew up in a violent world. And he doesn't have a wife to smooth things over for him.
The second thing is his character. The FSM appears to be a very aloof person. He's moved from his home to a monastery on a high mountain, away from civilization. Maybe that's a good thing for him, but he moved there with the children, thus isolating them even more. Wu himself said in the book that with the move, the FSM became quieter than ever.
I've been reading a lot of fanfics and speculation about the FSM. And some people wrote that the First Spinjitzu Master could beat his children.
This sounds as non-canon as possible to me. How would a being who has always sought peace raise his hand to his children?
It's more like he's trying to avoid conflict. So for example he tried to reconcile the Oni and the Dragons. So after all the endless battles with the Overlord, he decided it would be better to isolate the Overlord so that there would be no more war. So for example, the FSM got very angry when he found out that Wu and Garmadon almost destroyed the already shaky peace between the Serpentines and the humans. The FSM seeks peace, and will choose it if there is a way to find a more peaceful way than violence.
For example his words to Lloyd: “You have answered destruction with creation and love, there is no answer more beautiful.” I think this best describes the essence of the FSM.
But the FSM, if he doesn't beat the children, he rather morally crushes them, consciously or unconsciously.
We know from the book that he was very disappointed in Wu and Garmadon. He stopped trusting them. Because they stole very dangerous scrolls behind his back, even though he forbade taking them, and also his sons almost destroyed the peace between the two races. I think it was a stab in the back for the FSM.
And then things got worse when Garmadon was bitten by an evil snake. And the FSM probably started treating Garmadon colder. Because:
a) he betrayed him
b) the Oni side could awaken because of the poison and he would start doing bad things.
I think it's a bit silly that the First Spinjitzu Master remembered Wu and Garmadon's misbehavior so much that it stretched out over several years. They're his children. But it seemed to hurt him a lot, because if his own children were leading him around, then he couldn't trust anyone else. Plus at their age, the FSM was fighting there, so I think he has high expectations for his kids.
Personally, I think he has trust issues. Because he also didn't trust Nineko (The FSM student) when his katanas went missing. He immediately thought it was her. I think that's another one of the consequences of him living under those conditions.
You can't say that Wu and Garmadon's entire childhood was like that. I think the Spinjitzu Brothers books just cover that period of their childhood when everything had already gone downhill.
The turning point, this Aspheera. After which the punishment from the FSM, his distrust and disappointment, the move to the monastery, Wu and Garmadon's change of character, then Garmadon's bite.
It all started after Aspheera, a black streak.
I think before that their lives were so more or less pleasant and good. Wu in season nine remembers how he, his father and Garmadon used to go fishing. The FSM was laughing, meaning he was in a pleasant mood, as the boys themselves were arguing in front of their father, meaning they felt quite free. In Crystallized, Wu recalls his father telling him and his brother stories around the campfire. In his diary (The Book of Spinjitzu) Wu speaks very warmly of his father. So they had some good moments too.
Mostly things went downhill after Aspheera.

Ninjago “Reboot” Notes (Part 1: some lore)
Alright then, here’s some of my notes for the Ninjago reboot thing I made
Note: this is part one, I’ll do the rest later
Note, first part of this is kind of just a lore dump, mainly centered around Wu and Garmadon
So first thing, between Lloyd, Garmadon, Wu and the First Spinjitzu Master, none of them are biologically related. Lloyd is Garmadon’s adopted human son, Wu and Garmadon are more like brothers in arms (currently, this wasn’t always the case), and the First Spinjitzu Master is someone Wu and Garmadon met and later learned Spinjitzu from
As for Wu and Garmadon’s backstory, so Wu is a full on Dragon while Garmadon is an Oni. For countless millennia, the two fought against each other, hopping from realm after realm in their endless battles, eventually coming to Ninjago, while the FSM was still in the process of creating it. Their battling kept causing problems, as they would immediately destroy the things the FSM creates, meaning the process of making the realm was basically halted by them, and eventually, the FSM got so mad at them for it that he stepped in and almost single-handedly defeated them both
At some point, the Overlord came in to destroy Ninjago and the FSM, and the FSM enlisted the help of the other two, and (somewhat begrudgingly) the two joined forces and helped defeat the Overlord (though he didn’t actually die), taking all three of them at their most powerful to do so
Afterwards, the two had a truce, and they eventually grew to care about Ninjago, and eventually the FSM basically had to become one with the realm to bring it life, and so he left the two in charge of guarding the realm in his stead from anything that might destroy it, as well as passing down the art of Spinjitzu to them
Initially the two were just enemies, but during their fights they grew an immense respect for each other, and after coming to a truce, they started to grow more friendly, and their relationship now is more like a friendly rivalry. They will still have their battles (though on a much smaller scale as their true power would be catastrophic), but they can meet on friendly terms. Sort of like Goku and Vegeta’s relationship, except neither of them are really one or the other
As for Ninjago, they really only step in when something particularly big happens, since they aren’t here to handle every conflict in the realm
All three are commonly worshipped in Ninjago, the FSM as their creator, and Wu and Garmadon (though not by those names, as they’re given more legendary sounding titles) are worshipped as the guardians, and just for being Dragon and Oni in general. Wu is usually worshipped for blessings, and Garmadon for curses on enemies. How much they actually know about these wishes and what they do with them, I haven’t really figured out
They tend to just dip for centuries on end, by which I mean they might just sleep for that long, since they don’t need to be around for everything, and they’ll know if something big happens. But Garmadon tends to be around more than Wu, taking disguises to just mingle with the mortals and see what’s happening, mostly because he wants to
Also, Wu and Garmadon are way more powerful in this reboot, given they are pure Dragon and Oni, but either they choose not to use their full power on most occasions, or they’ve had their power willingly sealed off so they don’t get carried away
Also Dragon and Oni aren’t inherently good or evil, they just embody creation and destruction respectively
Alright, I think that’s about it for the lore dump, now let’s get into just general stuff
*sigh* okay, so apparently tumblr won’t let me post all this, so I’m just gonna cut it here and we’ll be back for the rest
Oh wait, one more thing about how powers work
Something I should mention right off the bat, so elemental powers don’t come from bloodlines, they specifically come from golden weapons made by the FSM with a bit of his power to be used by the inhabitants of his realm. The weapons may get passed down by families, but technically speaking anyone can use them. And it’s not just four, there’s one for each element
Also what weapons correspond to each element is different. For example, the Earth one is now a hammer, while the scythe is for Wind. It basically just comes down to what I think is more fitting
