Jellal doesn't necessarily consider himself prime material for a guild master ; if anything, he had been rather satisfied with the approach Ultear, Meredy and him had taken, a ragtag bunch lead not by an individual but by a common mission. Unfortunately, with the choking emptiness of Ultear's absence and the addition of new members, such a system isn't as ideal as it used to be ; taking the reins was what felt appropriate for the time being.

He does pride himself on the approach he ended up taking with the ex-Oracion Seis as they joined their ranks. His leadership style is one of guidance more than it is one of control ━ and while he may ask for efficiency and cooperation during travel, chores & missions, the Heavenly Body mage is more than happy to let them do & act however they want.

And most importantly : he does not force interaction. He is far more than aware of the history he shares with his fellow former prisoners, and the friction it occasionally brings. Jellal may be very keen on helping them find then walk the path of redemption & healing, but above all he prioritizes their freedom to choose where to go ━ never pushing further than allowed.

He doesn't even look up from the vegetable he's cutting... although he does hint to the other, through a few subtle actions ( & thoughts ), that 'he is more than welcome to help with the dinner preparations if in need to clear his mind.'
