A question for my American friends. If you play a musical instrument in high school, are you expected to do the marching stuff in the fancy uniforms on sports pitches?

Or can you just do the sit down play music orchestras/bands?

#just wondering if i would have survived if i grew up in america #or just constantly fallen flat on my face when asking my legs to do differrnt things to my upper body #we have marching bands here but they are military they are not the regular thing #but i have seen so much marching stuff on instagram reels im wondering #if thats just what you have to do if you want to play an instrument #if youre an american teen #it seems unfair that youre adding sport to the club that the non sporty kids join
