I changed the rest of the tir'su on Orpheus' chest to fit my HCs and feelies, though. And the comic is funnier to me if I go with my HC that it was Voss who tattooed all of Orpheus' tatts. He's a silly old man.

When I initially learned the meaning of sha va zai, I spiralled into the HC of the meaning of love in githyanki society and the lost words and meaning of affection in their people. And tied it deeply with the relationship of Kith'rak Voss and Orpheus who are so old they have been there since their enslavement, their beginnings.

If you know me well, you know my tav and Voss get together, and then all three get together in an unbreakable bond. Maybe it's love for all three. Maybe not as we understand it. Maybe it's beyond it.

I have so much to say about the githyanki and their expressions of love, intimacy affection and how as a people they feel so deeply, but what does that mean when you speak in violence, touch in claim, the taste of love weakness that will shatter your bones, vulnerability bile on your tongue.

Vanquish and Orpheus initially have a very rocky start to their relationship and love, but their love, I think, becomes beautiful and almost unbreakable. Gentle, peaceful, fierce, understanding - in comparison to her and Voss alone who are so wild, unyielding, passionate, life and death, desperate, need and need.

All three of them balance each other out. For better, and worse.

In some AU somehow, Vanquish and Orpheus will have a kid and heir. One day maybe she'll be queen, because someone once told Orpheus that one thing worse than no heirs, was just one.

Okay, so I HC Orpheus is a pre-egg baby (Voss too, but I HC he's far too old now to be able to have children, and has never had the desire to have his own or with anyone. But now, with Orpheus needing an heir, it's different, and the three of them being in their polycule, they are all equally her parents).

So, Orpheus can still reproduce in a classic sense that most material races can. And well, the logistics of a githyanki and tiefling bearing a child? Sure I'll get around to making up something to my joy.

Vanquish doesn't necessrily want children, but she wants to bear them an heir. I think that's the same with them all, children aren't necssarily a desire for their unit, but they all know an heir is essential. And more than one. However, this is the only one Vanquish gives them. One was enough for her lol. And she's unique and special to their little family.

I think she becomes singled out as special among Orpheus' heirs not just because of her appearance, but the connections of her being made through not just necessity, but love.

She's conceived with all three of them there and even though she's initially more heir than child, she becomes child and friend and our blood and bond.

All three were quite hands off parents, leaving her care to trusted and more skilled varsh, but they were always there, involved in the areas and moments that mattered and that they felt they could contribute to. Parenting for githyanki in this new world is a strange an alien concept. Parenting for Vanquish was never on the radar. But their child becomes formidable and powerful.

(I also HC she has a little Mother Gith in her, looks wise, but I can't draw for shit here sry. I draw her better).

Orpheus stares at Voss’ aged skin as he inhales a long draw, starfall of ash to his crossed legs. Skin sagging, spots faded. Searching for the psionic burns he’d left behind, aeons ago. Touches his wrist and squeezes tight the leather strap around it, closes eyes and breathes deep. Squeezes the other wrist’s leather tight, sore. Chaffed. Swallows back down his heart. Voss hears the ritual behind him, sees it reflected in the window, shrouded in the lath of smoke. Flicks another fall of ash onto his knee.

Tried to make Vanquish and Orpheus' kid in the CC with some mods.

So. Vanquish, pre being pacted and changed by Caiphon, was grey, white and black in her colouring. So that'd pass down to her kid instead of the purple changes by Caiphon I think.

She keeps her father's beautiful brown eyes and his smaller spots. Also in regard to her neck spots: she wasn't born with neck spots. But I HC Voss has a prominent line of neck spots that are quite unique and she draws them on her neck as a kid and I think gets them tattooed on her when she's older to have a part of her other father on her. She admires and looks up to Voss so much.

Also. She needs a name lol.

Orpheus calls Vanquish mla'ghir through gritted teeth for so long, with a sharp edge, even if underneath, the meaning is there, genuine. But I think even after that six months apart and the dust has settled, his emotions too after being pulled back into a world that's forgotten him, and he barely knowing it, (with some small communication between the sending stones Voss shares with Van) that he softens to the word. He starts to understand what she means to Voss, and therefore by extension, what she will mean to him.

And istik barely leaves his mouth anymore when talking about her, thinking about her.

Vanquish first notices it in Orpheus' voice the next time they're able to talk. Lighter. Open. Like if she asked a question, he'd kindly answer; like he'd even want to know more of her.

I think it'd take far, far longer for Voss to drop istik beyond their initial encounters of him half working Vanquish, half falling for her. Voss had been playing Vlaakith's part for so long he'd pretty much become it, and being sunk into githyanki culture and life for aeons, for being so old, it's something hard to peel away from him, even if he peppers words of endearment like rrav'kil in-between it, istik just rolls off without thought, even if sometimes it makes Vanquish flinch; pause.

Adilshar is Voss' meaning for Vanquish, and he sometimes calls her it after that first night. Often in moments where he hadn't really meant to. Exhaustion, anger, slipping between their lips as they kiss, near soundless.

But he doesn't explain its meaning for a long time. And is careful calling her it infront of Orpheus for a while until they're more...connected.

23 and 27 for vanquish 4 the tav asks?

23: What do they do after the absolute crisis?

Alright. Well. This is a long one, enjoy.

Neither of the canon endings really make me happy and work for Vanquish, so I'm rewriting in that tldr; Emps and Orpheus both survive and work together after Vanquish hauling Voss in to help her talk these two into working together to defeat the brain. Then Vanquish pretty much having to body block Orpheus afterwards to stop him ripping The Emperor apart, Voss and Lae'zel one arm each.

Quietly, she says a long, meaningful goodbye to The Emperor and Karlach, who became a mindflayer, and they go off together and start living their lives as they wish, flitting between the Underdark and a home beneath BG.

After a few tense nights hovering by Voss and Lae'zel's sides with the githyanki as they recover and prepare to leave for one of Voss' hidden outposts, Vanquish is sort of, panicking really. Suddenly she'd built up a small group of close, trusted friends and those she could maybe even call more, and now just, everyone's leaving. Everyone has their own lives to fix, to recover.

And she'll once again be alone.

For while at the githyanki camp, she feels like she fits in, at least with Voss and Lae'zel, and she'd burn the world for them. And after what they'd did for them, she knows those loyal to Orpheus and Voss may as well at least listen to her. Respect her. One day see a friend, too.

Voss commands a LOT of respect over the githyanki that follow him, so them seeing him start to see an istik as an equal, they follow.

Orpheus however, Vanquish and he kinda clash. He silently knows he owes so much to her for what she did for him, their people, but being freed after millenias in chains and silence kinda kicks the hornets nest of emotions for a bit. He'll get there. (Also the fact his bondmate is smitten with an istik?)

When they leave, Voss and Lae'zel promise they'll be back for her when they're ready, if she still wants to join their rebellion, and become an honorary warrior. Voss hands her one half of a very old sending stone pair, carved in tir'su that isn't even used anymore, letting her know that either he or Lae'zel will use the other half.

And they kept to their word. Voss returns to her one day on Qudenos to pick her up, and take her to her new home, if that's what she still wants.

(all the while she'd been setting up home in a small, solitary house far outside Baldur's Gate, sometimes checking in with The Emperor and Karlach, sometimes Gale or Astarion. Vanquish used to do a lot of tarot readings, tea leaves, divination stuff etc before all this went down, so she kinda picks that up for a while before Voss comes swooping in)

So, Vanquish in the end joins the githyanki rebellion because of her love for Voss, Lae'zel. And eventually she grows to love Orpheus too, and actually they become weirdly close in that 'you're someone I can sit in a room with for 8 hours and do absolutely nothing with but feel so comfortable and make you a cup of tea without asking and the only word you'll say is thanks and that's fine'.

Also. She steals all of Orpheus' clothes. Until Voss gets her some custom githyanki leather/cloth/fur armour made, as she can't wear anything too heavy because of her burn scars.

He also might gift her a custom githyanki circlet <3

Orpheus refuses to let her have her own dragon though. It's something weird he can't get pat. An istik on a dragon, but also how the knowledge of the dragons were obtained never really leaves him. He's always had a complicated relationship with them. Even after Voss and Qudenos insisted he have his own, Qudenos picking one of his close mates for Orpheus when he and Voss were very young. She always rides with either Lae'zel or Voss. Qudenos takes her out for cheeky solo rides, now and then.

tldr; she joins the githyanki rebellion and a polycule of her, Voss and Orpheus.

27: What was their life like before the events of BG3?

Lonely, mostly.

Scared, a little.

She'd run away from which was, in essence, a cult. She was the leader's little pet project and special princess. And he'd been playing the long, long game. (Vanquish is a lot older than she appears, mostly because of patron powers and her cult daddy called Nezarr who was like a chosen/avatar of Y'chak).

After running away, her mind kind of...fractured a little. Memories lost - most specifially of Nezarr and who and what he really was and did. He'd made sure to plant that failsafe into her that everytime she successfully fleed from her bonds, she'd forget, but not all. What would linger was that the next time she sees Nezarr, a twinge of comfort stirs in her that she knows him, that he can protect her, she'll be safe with him.

And it starts all over again. For this wasn't the first time she'd gotten free.

But it is the last.

So, freedom. She's trying to make a new life once again (unbeknown to her), scared and lost and well, angry too. So fucking angry.

But...she's also excited. There's a whole world infront of her again. And she's going to make it hers, again. Rage, joy, laughter, love, fear, pain, hate - all of it, and it's hers now. Hers.

Everytime she escapes it gets harder for the failsafe to work properly, and then when she gets tadpoled, it really fucks with the magic he used on her and memories come flooding back in pieces, feelings lost, and so much anger. She remembers her anger now, and what kind of person she used to be, and well, is.

She's my morally grey baby and I love her so much.

Feeling very emotional tonight about the post BG3 githyanki and how Vanquish is fitting into all that with Voss and Orpheus and my head is whirring at the excitement of writing that now but my girl ain't even got the Hammer yet in the OT3 fic series like damn

🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

Well. I'm really, really excited to start writing Vanquish joining the githyanki lost post BG3 in their rebellion but that is...........SO long away in the current timeline of the fics I'm writing sobs. But in a way, I have kind of started writing it so that's kind of cheating.

So I guess, Vanquish, Voss and Orpheus coming back and beating the shit out of Vanquish's ex everything, Nexarr, and turning him into dust and obliteration goodbye, is something I really wanna write it's gonna be very cathartic for Vanquish but also full of many strange emotions for many of the chars involved :>
