It is said that winning the love of his lady was a greater victory to the Knight-Commander than closing the Worldwound.
another wonderful piece that I commissioned from @ashsktchm (caard here), this time of my most beloved and terrible pair, Valerius and Camellia. Thank you once again Ash <3

I made the mistake of thinking about Vali having a softer (and hairier) tummy by the time he and Cam are back together and her going nuts for it.

I ended up in a discussion with a friend about OC/Canon children and ended up writing enough that I figured it was worth posting lol.
Valerius & Camellia —
Princess Mirela Daciana Camelia Dragavei (she/her, born 15 Rova 4725 AR, dhampir) – the youngest of Prince Valerius and Lady Camellia; she transitioned in her teenaged years. Quiet and unsettling, Mirela much prefers studying the properties of her family’s blood and anatomy to politics and religion; she is more than content to leave those responsibilities to her father and sister, and could often be found in the labs in the depths of the old ziggurat. Cruromancer wizard /  vivisectionist alchemist mix.
Princess Violeta Valeria Andrada Dragavei (she/her, born 15 Rova 4725 AR, dhampir) – the eldest and heir of Prince Valerius and Lady Camellia by scant minutes and she never fails to remind her sister Mirela of it.  Spoiled and hot-tempered, demanding, and she absolutely let being the heir get to her head. Still, she has a soft spot for her twin and her father, but has a very strained relationship with her mother as a result of being a shaman. Bones Shaman.
Magni Aeducan —
Ser Gorim Magni Aeducan (he/him, born 9:30 Dragon, mother: Mardy) – conceived on the last night that Magni Aeducan was a Prince with their favoured noble hunter Mardy, by the time Gorim was born, his noble parent was an exiled kinslayer, sentenced to walk the Deep Roads. By the time Magni learned of Gorim’s birth upon their return to Orzammar, they arranged for Bhelen to sponsor the child on their behalf. No Aeducan child would be left in the gutter. Gorim grew up with a distant parent who often preferred to remain topside, but idolised them anyway – wanting to be a hero too. Named after their parent’s second and now Seneschal of House Magni, Gorim - “the most honourable dwarf [Magni] knew”
Kieran (he/him, born 9:31 Dragon, mother: Morrigan) – Magni’s tempestuous affair with the Witch of the Wilds was always going to end in heartbreak. Though they broke off the relationship after negotiating an engagement with Queen Anora of Ferelden, Magni and Morrigan spent one last night together, conceiving Kieran in a ritual. After the final battle, Morrigan disappeared to raise their child on her own. Kieran has only met his father a handful of times and both parents prefer to keep it that way so Kieran does not get caught up in Fereldan, Orlesian or Orzammar politics.
Princess Amgarra Aeducan Mac Tir (she/her, born 9:43, mother: Anora) – often referred to as a little miracle, Amgarra was an unexpected surprise for Queen Anora and her consort. With Anora in her 40s, the rarity of half-dwarves and the taint inside Magni, it should not have been possible. But still, it happened, after 13 years of marriage and Magni having found a cure for the Darkspawn corruption inside them.  Amgarra comes from the dwarven word amgarrak, or ‘victory.’ She very much favours her grandfathers Endrin and Loghain in different ways: the classic Mac Tir nose and piercing eyes and the famous wiles of the late King Endrin. When she is of age, no doubt she will be a strong successor to Queen Anora – and a frightening prospect to Orzammar, as she has blood claims to both countries.
Ser Valdan Magni Aeducan (he/him, born 9:32 Dragon, mother: Mardy) – the second son born by Mardy. After the events of Awakening and Amaranthine had burned to the ground, Magni was advised to take a ‘diplomatic leave’ from the Fereldan court and his post as Commander of the Grey, and returned to Orzammar for a year, during which Valdan was conceived. Similarly to Gorim, he grew up with not much contact with his topside parent, but unlike Gorim, he resented his father for it.
Byron & Viconia —
Vala DeVir (she/her, date of birth unknown) – the only child of the Bhaalspawn Byron and the Sharran drow Viconia DeVir, Vala grew up sequestered in the cloisters of a Sharran temple alongside her parents. However, her relationship with her parents – especially her mother – grew strained the older she got and the more she longed to have a life outside of the temple. Against her mother’s wishes, but with her father’s blessing, she set out on her own the night she became of age – becoming an explorer of the Underdark and gaining a trusty giant spider as her companion. She never returned to her parents until her father was on his deathbed, and by the time she arrived, he’d already passed away in his sleep. Gloomstalker ranger.
Leto & Cassia —
Lady Cassandra Visteria van Mynaard von Valancius af Dargonus (she/her, date of birth unknown)  – the only child and heir of Rogue Trader Leto van Mynaard von Valancius, born via surrogacy with a member of House Werserian after it became apparent that Lady Cassia was unable to bear a living child due to her Navigator genes. She was allowed to have a proper childhood at the insistence of Cassia, who never got to have one – and it was only when she hit her teen years that Cassandra’s education in the von Valancius dynasty began in earnest. After Cassia left the public eye and retired to Janus following her mutations becoming more grotesque, Cassandra was devastated by her mother’s absence and her grief was compounded by her father’s increasingly apparent madness from his diviner abilities. She comes to rely heavily on her great-grandfather Abelard after she is forced to take up the mantle of Rogue Trader too young.

If She Loves Me, Why Do I Feel All Alone? • Owlcatober
Game: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: M for implied sexual content, discussions of the Battlebliss, reference violence, anxiety & ptsd, discussions of religion. Characters: Knight-Commander, Sosiel Relationships: Valerius & Sosiel, background Valerius/Camellia Summary: As a servant of Urgathoa, you don't turn your back on your impending Ashenmorn without expecting divine punishment. With a crisis of faith on his hands and not knowing where else to go, Valerius ends up at Drezen's temple. For several of @owlcatober’s prompts — memory, fear and (briefly) stars. Word Count: 2,511
As he enters the temple, the heavy doors creaking open, he is surprised to find it empty. No matter what time of the day, there has been someone here — a priest, at the very least.  Then, he feels it — the gnawing in his belly: a reminder that Urgathoa has forsaken him until She grants him clemency, no matter how extravagant his obediences have become.
What good are his prayers as a source of comfort if his goddess won’t even listen to him?

Camellia draws in a breath and licks her lips. "Commander. Valerius. My ritual is quite a taxing process. The strain is difficult to bear. Sex is the best way to relieve the tension once it is all over."

Savour Its Sweet, Bloody Taste • Chapter V
RATING: M PAIRING: Knight-Commander x Camellia ; Valerius x Camellia TAGS/CONTENT WARNINGS: moderate references to violence, post-game fic, a wild Elyanka appears SUMMARY: with the final preparations being put it in place, long-standing tensions and fears come back to the fore. 3086 wordsAUTHOR'S NOTE: a combo of lack of inspiration and full-time work has been an absolute killer on the motivation to write but I'm glad I've finally managed to get a chapter out (let's not talk about how it's been 7 months)
With the plan set in motion, Valerius has found his time being divided between his regular duties and visits to the sweltering laboratories set up in the depths of the old ziggurat; Elyanka’s people have taken to the work with zeal and curiosity, but they are still Elyanka’s people – and so he placed a trusted friend and a loyal subject as the overseers of the project.
By now, he has seen enough of the process: it required his participation in order for it to work. And that process is bloody, brutal and yet brilliant – a marriage of science and magic, crafting and shaping a copy of him out of little more than a few locks of hair, droplets of blood and seed, and a small flaying of the flesh. The flaying, done by the Shackleborn tiefling Nela – who came to the city in search of a patron –  still aches. It had been agonising as she’d expertly taken just two small cuts of skin from him, droplets of blood pooling at his eyes as he’d bitten down on a block of wood to stop his screams; the wood had snapped far too quickly and he had to spit splinters from his mouth.
“The pain will be a lasting memory, a taste of His Enlightenment, your Grace,” she had told him, her barbed tail curling her flayer’s knife, the smell of blood clogging the air of the laboratory.  The knife’s burning sting could not even be soothed by the cold touch of his necromantic healing – a lasting reminder of what he has to do in order to no longer have Mendev snapping at his heels.

Bloodied Petals • Owlcatober
Game: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: E, for non-graphic smut and some graphic descriptions of violence / dead bodies. Characters: Knight-Commander, Camellia Relationships: Valerius/Camellia Summary: Soaked by rain and the blood of a household, the truth finally comes out. For several of @owlcatober's prompts (plant life, blood, trickery) Word Count: 3.2k Author's Note: I intended to finish this as my final entry for this year's Owlcatober, but unfortunately I got sick towards the tailend of the month, hence why this is being published now.
“I knew you would have figured it out eventually, and I could have fled in the dead of night without even leaving so much as a farewell note but,” Camellia shakes her head, letting the bone snake fall into her lap, before reaching out to touch the bird skull around his neck, her thumb digging into the empty eye socket. A look of anguish flashes across her face, just as it’d pained her to say as much in Alushinyrra. “I like travelling with you, Valerius. I enjoy the power you have shared with me — gaining that command over death itself in my own small way, the extra…vigour. So, I decided to finally take the risk and open up to you.”

Thinking about the first victim of Valerius and Camellia's relationship (the table in the abandoned house)

Note
did valerius ever notice the huge insane red flags in camellia's camp conversations with the rest of the party? shes so bad at lying its insane
Joke answer: yes but red is his favourite colour.
Proper answer: yeah, he had his suspicions about her but he makes a point to not pry into people's business as he does not want people prying into his. It is important to note Valerius is actively hiding what he is (an antipaladin of Urgathoa, who have a certain reputation) during the earlier stages of the game, in order to appeal more palatable to the crusaders and so Hulrun isn't executing him on sight. Tyrants are more than happy to associate with good people in order to manipulate them, and that's exactly what Vali is doing in the lead up to choosing Lich. Even after that, honestly, he does his best to play the Lich choice off as a "needs must, this way we cannot run out of soldiers" practical choice. So all this to say that Valerius does notice something is off about her pre-act 3, but he's content to leave well enough alone until it becomes a concern for him directly out of his own self-interest - and he responds in kind; a secret for a secret.

Reading • Owlcatober Day 3
Game: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: M Characters: Knight-Commander, Camellia Relationships: Valerius/Camellia Summary: Camellia is about to sleep when she realises a favourite book of hers is missing. It turns out Valerius borrowed it for research. Set in act 5. Word Count: 1.3k words Note: this is the rewrite of an old prompt I wrote back in May '22 that I felt could do with a facelift and it fit the prompt perfectly.
“Now we’ve said hello,” he says, reaching out to tuck her side-parting behind her ear, his thumb tracing the soft curve of her jaw down to her chin, “will you let me explain before you decide to bite my head off?”

Camellia saying she doesn't need Horgus anymore because she has Valerius activated the paladin neurons in his brain. Show me a paladin feeling abandoned by his goddess and I'll give you that same paladin swearing his devotion to the woman he's desperately in love with, even if he thinks the feeling isn't mutual, even if she betrayed his trust.

Professional Curiosity • Chapter I - The Bliss
RATING: E PAIRING: Knight-Commander x Camellia ; Valerius x Camellia ; Valerius / Camellia / Greybor TAGS/CONTENT WARNINGS: canon typical violence, explicit sexual content, threesome — m/f/m SUMMARY: Needing a night away from Drezen and their responsibilities, Valerius and Camellia return to Alushinyrra to spend an evening with Greybor, leading to an… enlightening experience for their old friend. It's entirely out of professional curiosity, of course. WORD COUNT: 3,222 AUTHOR’S NOTE: This has been something of a nightmare to write; I've been trying to work on it for nearly a year at this point, but with it steadily trucking along and it now being October (Kinktober time), I figured I'd break this up into chapters since this is going to be a long one.
“Why, Greybor,” she begins huskily, arching into her husband’s touch, “I did not take you to be a voyeur.”
Valerius smiles into her neck as he nips the column of her throat, just enough to draw a trickle of blood. His tongue laps at it eagerly. She digs her nails into him in response.
Greybor chuckles — it is low, rough and rather pleasing to her. Their eyes are firmly trained on one another. “Watching people in their most vulnerable moments is a useful habit to have in our line of work.”

I’m bad at questions but I hope your recovery is quick! Any random fact you have not yet shared about Valerius and Camellia? 💕
thank you 😭 I feel like this is super hard because I feel like I've shared all I've got to share (which is partially why I've been fairly quiet in a while??) on them without prompting. Owlcat pls drop the last DLC I'm begging.
Camellia took the contract to assassinate Valerius because she hated the way she was still feeling about him even 3 years after she left. Absence made the heart grow fonder, hornier and angrier. She hoped at least this way, if she did kill him, she could make it deserving of her ex-lover. But all it proved to her is that when it came down to it, she faltered and he was able to get the upper hand on her as a result.

WIP SOMEDAY — (it's late again)
It's been a while since I've done one of these, and I'm in the process of trying to make progress on Professional Curiosity. If I manage to get this finished by the end of the year, it'll be a miracle. Brief warning for sexual content as it is that particular WIP, although aside from a language choice this part isn't that explicit.
Tagging (but no pressure if you don't want to share or don't have anything): @dwarrowdams, @silversiren1101, @dragonologist-phd, @dujour13, @fashionablyfyrdraaca
Valerius is already in the process of undressing, withdrawing something from a pocket in his doublet, before pulling at the laces. He sheds the garment, allowing it to drop to the polished marble floor with a light thud. She licks her lips as she drinks in the sight — the wall of scarred muscle, tempered a softened stomach caused by a few years of ruling; several of those scars are ones inflicted by herself, like the one close enough to his heart, a deliberate strike to spare his life in the heat of a moment; her heart swells with pride and lust at the reminder that he so proudly wears those, chooses not to heal them, as a symbol of his devotion to her. A reminder of the ecstasy your touch brings me, he’d said once, his lips caressing her knuckle reverently.
He comes towards her, settling into a kneel at her feet — his cool fingers brush over the straps of her shoes, before one hand slides up past her skirts, the palm caressing her calf, coming to a pause at the back of her knee. She pushes herself up, leans forward so she can tilt two fingers beneath his chin, and she can already sense the words that teeter on the edge of heresy coming close to spilling from his lips — how easy it’d be for a my goddess to slip from him in the heat of the moment.
She releases his chin from between her fingers, and he bows his head — he kisses over her shapely calf, hiking up her dress as he works his mouth over her flushed flesh, closer and closer to her aching cunt. A strong hand grasps onto her waist, clutching at her tight enough to bruise, and pulling her closer to the edge of the bed. She reaches out to stabilise herself by grabbing his shoulder, nails digging into the inked skin there.

Savour Its Sweet, Bloody Taste • Chapter IV
RATING: M
PAIRING: Knight-Commander x Camellia ; Valerius x Camellia
TAGS/CONTENT WARNINGS: descriptions of gore, references to A Noble Intent.
SUMMARY: Weakened and restless after spending days cooped up in an inn, Camellia seeks a place to commune with her spirits. 3421 words.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: I’m not dead, I’ve just been going through it. In all seriousness, I wrote this in a fugue state the past couple of days, and I wanna give a quick thanks / acknowledgement to @bearvanhelsing for proof-reading this beast.
It is the two spirits entwined in her amulet, one of battle and one of bone, that guide her feet, her thoughts, reminding her in whispers that it has been some time since they have all communed; and before she realises it, she is standing in the middle of the slums, moving down twisted, dilapidated alleyways to the abandoned house where all of this began. It does not seem to have changed much. The front door is covered in frost and barely hanging onto its hinges, and the one, dirty windowpane next to it is shattered.
Thinking back to that night always stirs fondness, relief and a touch of fear. She should have died that night, but Valerius had thought to spare her instead, for reasons she assumed had been purely pragmatic rather than a matter of faith — and then afterwards, there had been a secret for a secret, so she understood his decision and helped define the nature of their arrangement - mutually beneficial, mutually pleasurable. Until the feelings got involved.
