been missing freddie mercury a lot lately
#i think there’s a point in every newer queen fan’s journey with the band where you just miss freddie constantly#bc all of a sudden this person means so much to you and you just have to grapple with the fact that they’ve been gone for longer than you’ve#loved them#and over time you get used to it and you still miss him but it’s not on your mind constantly#and it’s been years since I got into queen so I’ve been in that state of mind for a while#but lately I think I’ve just gained a new appreciation for him especially recognizing now that he was the first major queer figure that I#had to look up to#even tho I was deeply deeply in closet and in denial of my queerness at the height of my queen obsession#just realizing now that he made queen a safe space for me before I even knew how badly I needed that safe space#and especially the way he influenced gerard and how much gerard and mcr mean to me now#like I know he’s gone and I have known this for years. lately it’s just been a gut punch every time I remember that he’s not around anymore#parasocial relationships off the charts tonight. oh well at least I’m aware#g
