Yehaaaa! Welcome to 2017! And I’m still in Sydney 😉 I’ve seen a lot the last few weeks and still there are some things to explore around here. It’s interesting to get to know a city better. By now I’ve traveled to the big cities Melbourne, Adelade, Brisbane and Sydney and they all have their own charm. In all of them you could spent quite some time to get to know stunning places and loveley people. The same goes by the way for smaller areas I’ve seen, like the Gold Coast, Byron Bay or Darwin. Because of my special connection to Sydney I’m fine by spending my time here. Sydney shows a big variety of stuff to do, probably the same as every other big city too, but it’s location near the Blue Mountains, the Paramatta River and the Pacific Ocean gives the city a nice touch. But enough talk see for yourself what I’ve done since my last post. Here are some pics…
I really managed to get a nice place to stay not far from Coogee Beach. When the weather is good the different beaches are great to hang out and easy to catch a little sunburn, because you forgett about the time.
#gallery-0-33 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-33 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-33 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-33 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
And the roommates Catherine and Ned are really nice and supportive. Most of the time I had the apartment on my own with anja anyways.
Besides the events Christmas and New Years Eve we managed to go out dancing once and saw e few bars mostly around Coogee. Everything really easy going. Sydney is not really known as a big party City.
#gallery-0-34 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-34 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-34 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-34 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Crismas Eve we did a pub crawl in Newtown. It was funny although there wasn’t much going on in the pubs. So we were quite surprised when we headed over to coogee beach on boxing day. There was a big Christmas happening and after that day banned alcohol from the beach the next week’s. We met a lot of Germans and invited to of them to our place. Even the neighbour came over. It really was funny.
#gallery-0-35 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-35 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-35 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-35 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Touri like we got the 5 Atraction Pass and went to Wildlife and Madame Tussauds #gallery-0-36 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-36 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-36 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-36 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
We did the costal walk from Coogee to Bondi Beach and back. Bondi is really crowded during summer holidays. Coogee or the other beches on the way are more easy going.
#gallery-0-37 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-37 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-37 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-37 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
And then we joind a couchsurfing group for the New Years Eve event. We went to Mrs Macquaries Chair had probably had the best free front row seats to view the Fireworks. My first 24 hour Silvester. We went to queue for the event at midnight the day before. Waited until 10 to get into the park and spend the day there with around 15000 other people. It really was fun and we met some nice people in the couchsurfing group. To view the firework from that point was amazing and the waiting totally worth it. Still, I think it will stay a once in a liftime experience 😉 and all day without alcohol. But I really haven’t missed it 😊
#gallery-0-38 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-38 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-38 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-38 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Herm, an very old friend I grew up with, came to Sydney on the 29th with his friend Malte. Sadly we couldnt spend New Years Eve together but we went out for hiking in the Royal National Park  in the south of Sydney together. We had a very nice day and ended up in a bar playing an awsome round of shock in the evening 😎  #gallery-0-39 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-39 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-39 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-39 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The last days we went to see some more things of our 5 Atraction Pass. So we saw Sealife and Sydney Tower Eye. Beside that we went to the Royal Botanic Gardens, to the Opera House and the Sydney Fish Market. #gallery-0-40 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-40 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-40 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-40 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
