I just wanna gush a second about how when Tubbo logged in before today's server shutdown, Étoiles wanted to 1v1 him but when Étoiles lied and said he only had Prot 1 on his armor Tubbo didn't want to fight because he has Prot 3 so it "wouldn't be fair".

Even tho Tubbo was 1v3 killed the other day & had all his stuff taken, so he knows how vicious & unfair things can get, yet he wants to match Étoiles' "honorable" style of fighting.......

And after Étoiles killed Tubbo (he was afk) he didn't take his stuff because he wants to beat Tubbo properly, in a fair fight.

Even tho I have been wanting Purgatory DONE since, like, Day 2, I'd still kiss the admins hands for what they've done for q!Tubbo & q!Etoiles relationship.

Yes, Tubbo has always seen Etoiles for what he is, a strong, respectable guy, who is worth being the 'Hero of The Town', and he'd call Etoiles his rival, but it was mostly for a laugh. He was never serious about fighting him because he had much different priorities in Quesadilla Island.

Meanwhile, one of Etoiles first impressions of Tubbo was when Pierre was miserable because all his machines got nerfed for something Tubbo did, and Tubbo did not show an ounce of remorse (at least not in front of Pierre) so Etoiles just thought of Tubbo as a selfish, self-centered kid who didn't care who he screwed over as long as he could have his fun. Tubbo liked to run his mouth about being able to kick Etoiles ass, but it was all empty words. Etoiles never took their rivalry seriously, either, just as a "one day I'm gonna have to properly beat him so he understands we're not the same" and that's all.

BUT NOW. BUT NOW. THEY ACTUALLY. ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OTHER. Purgatory made it so they could see eye-to-eye for the first time. Actually see what kind of people they both are.

That Tubbo isn't only self-interested, but also a compassionate leader. That Etoiles isn't only a hero of the people, but also someone prideful to a fault. They can both see the best & worst in each other.

I'M VERY EXCITED FOR HOW THIS WILL AFFECT THEIR STORIES GOING FORWARD.

Something I really love about Tubbo & Etoiles' 1v1 fights is how Etoiles gets 'bored' because Tubbo doesn't give him the "thrill of the chase."

In most fights, Etoiles is always the one attacking, "leading" the fight. Leaving the other person trying to run away, or desperately trying to put distance so they can recover.

But when Tubbo makes up his mind to fight, he doesn't run away. He gets close & keeps trying to out-crit the other person. He acts bold and confident, even against people like Etoiles who have out-crit him several times before, but that confidence is what pushes Etoiles to the offensive during their fights, so Tubbo is the one mostly "leading."

The reason Etoiles opted for bowing Tubbo down at the end of yesterday's 1v1 was because he knew he had a better bow than Tubbo so it was something he could actually rely on, rather than direct crits. He wasn't confident he could land more crits than Tubbo, even when he has done it before. He had a moment of insecurity. Or maybe he was just sick of the fight (most likely, but less interesting lmfao)

Etoiles says he's not scared of Tubbo, but I'm sure he's aware that even if Tubbo only wins 1 out of 10 fights against him, that 1 win is all it takes lmfao

Just watched the 5 min clip of Etoiles logging in today to Purgatory and that line he said to Tubbo: "Don't try to pretend you're a good guy." After Tubbo was trying to convince him he wanted to tie while the percentages said another thing. SO ANGSTY.

In my mind, these PvP Legacy practices between Etoiles & Tubbo are canon. In Purgatory, while everyone else is sleeping, they just meet up in the woods to beat the shit out of each other. Because they're both sweats, but also as a Bonding Exercise lmao

The subtle friendship between Etoiles & Tubbo kills me. Étoiles knew that something was going on with Tubbo today so he kept poking fun at him as a way to check up on him. You could tell if Tubbo asked for help he'd have gone running. Probably make fun of him for it, but would help him nonetheless.
