Lemmy Kilmister, Motörhead adlı heavy metal grubunun kurucusudur. Köklerine sadık ve her İngiliz gibi gelenekçi olan Lemmy Kilmister, bundan 30 yıl önce oldukça sıradışı olan müzik tarzı ile metal müziğin gelişmesinde önemli katkılar sağlamıştır. Venom, Destruction ve Sodom gibi dünyaca tanınan dev isimlerin (Slayer/Metallica/Cronos/Venom, Schmier/Destruction, Tom Angelripper/Sodom) ilham kaynağı olmuştur. ACDC, Black Sabbath, Ramones gibi 1.nesil Rock'N'Roll gruplarından biri olan Motörhead'i kurmuş ve Motörhead adı altında 24 albüm çıkarmıştır. 2010'da çıkmış olan "Lemmy the Movie" filminde kendisi anlatılmaktadır. 28 Aralık 2015'te, bir süredir kanser tedavisi gören Kilmister'ın durumu ağırlaşmış ve öğleden sonra saat 4 civarında Los Angeles'daki dairesinde hayatını kaybetmiştir Ian Fraser Kilmister (24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015), better known as Lemmy, was a British musician, singer, and songwriter who founded and fronted the rock band Motörhead. His music was one of the foundations of the heavy metal genre. He was known for his appearance (including his friendly mutton chops), his distinctive gravelly, "rasp[y]" singing voice, which "...was one of the most recognisable voices in rock", and his way of singing, looking up towards "...a towering microphone tilted down into his weather-beaten face". He was also known for his unmistakable bass playing style, in which he used his Rickenbacker bass to create an "overpowered, distorted rhythmic rumble". Another unique aspect of Lemmy's bass sound is that he often played power chords using a growling overdriven Marshall tube bass stacks. Alongside his music career, he also had many minor roles and cameos in film and television.
