"WAVELENGTH" aka "ALIEN TERROR" (1982 w/d Mike Gray) - 1992 StarMaker / R&G - this one's a real bizarre affair, starring Robert Carradine (Louis from "Revenge of the Nerds") and Cherie Goddamn Currie from the Runaways! get this - in my humble opinion this movie was destined to fail. audiences had to roundly reject Robert Carradine as believably being a relatively smooth neil young type who could keep his cool while owing a bunch of small town jabronis money, dating Cherie, handling the discovery, release & successful extraterrestrial extraction of a bunch of Baby Greys being held by the Reagan-era CIA. if they hadn't, he would never have fallen low enough to become Louis Skolnick™ and ascend to his true station in life: someone who is still enjoying the royalties from portraying an evil nerd rapist for 20 years and producing profitable motion pictures with that money, thus codifying his wealth forever. all "Nerds" hate aside, this movie is really good; there's a sick alien autopsy in it. Edwin Scott Brown) - HBO Video 1980 - for a 36 year old VHS to look and play this good despite obvious years of week-long rentals gone wrong is a miracle, but there's still more magic lighting about this cassette, and not just because this is one of the finer "mutant wildman terror" type flix of the period--"the prey" wasn't released in theatres until '84, post-sale of New World Pictures, but this cassette had long been in circulation prior to that because of Corman's deal with HBO Video.
