I practically sobbed when Scully said that she doesn’t care what other people think of her and Mulder at the end of the episode. Mulder has been isolated his whole life because everyone’s thought badly of him, and would probably have been worried she would be deterred by that, but no!

Wait, sorry, Mulder and Scully watched actors playing themselves make out with each other, and then they left early with uninhibited access to money… I don’t know about you, but I’d like to know what they spent it on, any ideas?!?

I just love that they can joke like “Mulder… I’m in love with associate producer Skinner” without it affecting their relationship now, they jealously from earlier seasons is long gone.

We need to talk about Scully’s birthday scene in Tempus Fugit!!! I was a MESS, I couldn’t focus for the rest of the episode!!! Here’s why:

1) Mulder using Scully’s full name in the song

2) the running gag about him remembering her birthday

Edit: @limit-of-heat just reminded me that they thought this could be Scully’s last birthday… and now I’m going to cry, thanks for nothing! Put it into a whole new perspective for me - Mulder is celebrating her birthday for once because he knows he might never get another opportunity…

5) Mulder got her a present!!! And he was soooooo excited to give it to her. (Of course, he was only that happy because it was her though…)

I hated watching Scully face harassment in this episode, like, watching the inmates catcall her made me want to throw up. That said, I’m really glad the show is exploring the issues she faces being a woman in the world and specifically in her field.

Mulder asking who would be on her list if she could kill five people, to which she said “I only get five?”, and he replied “I remembered your birthday this year, didn’t I, Scully?”…their little smiles… they’re so precious, my heart can’t handle it!!

“I’m seeing a whole new side of you Mulder, I like it” on the surface, that hurts, because it’s obviously not him she’s seeing. But to be honest, I think Blundt is just channeling what he’s observed that the real Mulder wishes he could be.

It seems to me that the best relationships, the ones that last, are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before.

I actually squealed when I got to this line. I knew it was coming, but actually witnessing Scully say something that so obviously parallels her relationship with Mulder… I’m a mess. I happen to agree with Holman that Mulder should “try it sometime”.

PS Mulder you’re not fooling anyone, you absolutely do gaze at Scully!!

“Scully, you are the only one I trust” HELLO?????? I have a lot of thoughts about this. I relate to Mulder because he puts his trust in people so easily that he is constantly getting hurt. He hates himself because of this, so tries to pretend that he doesn’t trust easily. To me, this line felt like him putting up the facade of being distrustful of other people to protect himself, while simultaneously telling Scully that she’s the only one with whom he doesn’t have to be afraid of the consequences of trusting. I might be projecting, but that was my interpretation.

Also, can we talk about how SCULLY’S WORST NIGHTMARE IS MULDER BETRAYING HER???
