Happy Friday! Today my only class was Italian at 11:30, which was fun as always. Fiorenza is the best. A big group of us ate lunch at a new pizza place called Il Pizzaioulo, which is near our house. It was really good! Me and Julia have become pros at ordering one pizza and one pasta and splitting them down the middle. We had carbonara (which really is so much better in Italy) and an olive + spicy salami pizza.

After lunch, we walked to Santa Croce and looked at the facade of the church a little more intricately. You have to pay to go inside, which we will do at some point, just not yet. The outside is gorgeous — today I saw “O CRUX AVE SPES UNICA” above the main entrance door, and had an “I know what that means because of Saint Francis High School” moment because our motto was Spes Unica. Father Tony would be so proud! I took a picture but it’s not great; I’ll add it still as I try to give you all at least one picture a day. We walked to Vivoli for some gelato — it’s one of the oldest gelato shops in all of Florence and had wonderful, wonderful nocciola and gianduja flavors. 10/10 would recommend.

After the gelato stop, we walked to the Oblate library which is the favorite library amongst Florentine students. It has beautiful views of the Duomo from their higher floors. It started raining a little bit though, which wasn’t fun. It reminded me how much I don’t want summer to end!
