Time for some thank yous; it’s been a while.
Just saw a reblog of one of my photos in one of the ongoing Tumblr original photography reblog sites; a few days before, also saw another photo of mine reblogged by another Tumblr original photography reblog site.
And I see reblogs of my photos, still, after sharing my photos here for 11 years. And I’m thrilled and surprised, still, after sharing my photos here for 11 years.
I still get excited and am relieved to get acknowledgement for my photography. Yes, I admit, I know I am good at what I do, the type of photography I do, but there is also, always, that insecurity that lingers, especially since my images are often not mainstream. I often tend to see and capture the unusual and when I capture the usual, I edit it and the result is often an unusual representation of what is common, what is usual. And I will not discuss my “people” photos, except to say that I still am not quite sure that they are good. Yes, I know they sometimes are good, but I am also not, in my eyes, a people photographer. Yet I do get encouraging, reassuring complements from member of our Tumblr original photography community, for which I am grateful.
Really, while I do consider myself a photographer, I also do not think of myself a photographer. Makes sense?
So, this is why I am so grateful for the reblogs in original photography reblog Tumblrs, whether they are run by a group of fellow Tumblr photographers or individually: Each reblog is recognition by other members of our Tumblr original photography community whose work I admire, and that is priceless. And I am humbled. Gratefully humbled.
Then, in Lux Lit, which still includes the talented photographers @der-gorgonaut Georg & @placethatechoes Chris (their photography is gorgeous), who after all the years of looking for and sharing original Tumblr photography on our site still take my breath away with their reblog choices, they happened to both choose the same recent photo of mine for reblog on Lux Lit. Now, I an very flattered, humbly grateful, because the photo got some great complements from fellow Tumblr photographers though it did not initially get much notes. Yet I still love the photo and am planning on including it on my Website. But the recognition from fellow Tumblr photographers?
Priceless.
So, a big thank you to all the group run, multi-member reblog sites a big thank you to all the individually run reblog sites a big thank you to all the Tumblr original photographers a big thank you to all the folks on Tumblr who are fans of our images and enjoy and acknowledge and reblog and complement our photography.

Dear Lux Lit, a warm thank you for re-blogging our image Sea Witch. My model Kangsom has been taking a lot of blows this year, all Covid-related, and your kind encouragement is very much appreciated! Times are tough here in Thailand. Much of the tourism sector has collapsed, and no safety net to speak of. My mission is to help her and others as much as possible. Hope is a powerful tonic.
Peter:
Wow. I rarely (almost never) reply to reblog thank you messages (though I read and appreciate all of them), but yours is full of information and hope and joy during a time of sorrow and isolation and uncertainty for most of us, so here goes.
I cannot thank you enough for sharing your gratitude and the desperate situation in Thailand via your message. Living in a more politically liberal area of CA like I do, and having the luxury of a good, steady job (in educational tech support) that also allows me the freedom to work from home (which I have done sporadically for over 10 years), it is easy to forget that not everyone is as blessed. Your message, yes, broke my heart a bit, but also gave me great comfort about our ongoing reblog work in Lux Lit and how something so seemingly small in the grand scheme of life can still bring great, and often much-needed, happiness.
Part of my daily routine is to ask Life: "How will you surprise me today?" and the comforting impact of reading your message toward the end of my day, after, coincidentally, having dinner with a good friend in one of our favorite Thai restaurants in SF, well, it left me feeling humbled and grateful for all y'all photographers on Tumblr and for my 2 fellow Lux Lit members (@der-gorgonaut & @placethatechoes). Both of those gentlemen have been part of Lux Lit for longer than I have (and I have been the admin for about 7 years) and the gorgeous, inspiring images they find are a constant source of joy, as are the images and thoughts shared by the Tumblr original photographer community.
Every so often, I wonder if doing this Lux Lit reblog thing matters, and if I should continue, but your message melted my doubts and made me know that, in whatever small way we can here at Lux Lit, we bring a sense of joy and support to our fellow photographers.
We want to let all y'all know that you and your images are seen and appreciated.
Anyway, this is my way of thanking you for your uplifting message. And please know that if there is ever any information and/or request for help that we can share on Lux Lit (and I know other Tumblr folks and sites will do the same), please pass it along and we will reblog it. (And this applies to all members of our community; we have a strong network that we have used before and we will use it again.) To paraphrase what you said, in a small way, our "mission is to help" Tumblr original photographers "and others as much as possible. Hope is a powerful tonic." I will add that Hope is a powerful tonic because it nourishes our sense of Faith that there is always a solution, if an unexpected one. Light is ever present, though it may take us a while to travel through the darkness so we can see the constant Light.
Sorry if this reply is a bit rambling and scattered and heavy and long. Hope it makes sense.
Oh, and hope you do not mind I replied publicly, but I think during these times, a message like yours deserves to be shared, hopefully to give us some Hope and Faith and to remind us that we are connected, in often surprising ways.

2022 gratitude
On a separate note, I want to thank @placethatechoes & @der-gorgonaut for their ongoing contributions to Lux Lit.
Both of them inspire my with their dedication and their artistic vision, which guides them to create lovely images and to explore and share such great photographs from our Tumblr original photographer community.
Thank you.
