Started writing a fic back in early October and had to abandon it for a while due to IRL situations. But I've started working on it again little by little, and I am so excited to eventually share it with my mutuals and followers. I hope you guys enjoy it (I am trying my best to get it done)!

TBH my only motivation anymore is thinking about my friends having a good time reading it when it's finally posted (I love all of you very much). I cannot wait for all of these ideas to be fleshed-out on paper at last.

Over 16,000 words and I am nowhere near satisfied yet. I feel like I can write WAY more. Stay tuned!

my friend has been showing me explorers of the spirit recently and I got so into it that I started a run myself w one of my dnd characters and the guy* she's trying to manipulate (another pc)! it's going as well as I hoped it would

heres my explorers of the spirit team! their actual in-game names are different, but i was being goofy with it when i started the game

didi is part-mudkip because i had a different team before this skitty & totodile pair! previously i had a mudkip hero and a chikorita partner, but i deleted that save so i could stream the game from start to finish to friends, instead of starting halfway

so yeah, i made didi part-mudkip bc of my previous mudkip hero

i was also surprised at the aura colour i got. i nearly always get sky blue, for whatever reason, so i was expecting it to happen again. but then i got green

heres my design choices on the skitty. ive never had a skitty hero before (or i did, but it wasnt memorable), so i didnt have a pre-existing oc or anything to base the eots hero design off of

I just finished explorers of the spirit. Oh my god. Oh my god? Oh my god. I don't think I'm going to recover. Ever. I need like. Picks up my drink with shaking hands. A pick me up of some kind. Time to reply the base game.

Another thing I really like about explorers of the spirit is the tonal changes. It starts out feeling relatively normal, albeit a little unsettling and gets more and more bleak the more nightmares occur and the more the attitudes of everyone around hero start to lean towards distrust - and even the partner appears kinda concerned and at times downright uncomfortable with every situation the two of them get into.

Once hero hits their breaking point from all of this especially it begins feeling EXTREMELY bleak and depressing, with no end in sight, especially in the aurascape.

But then once they start getting things out of their system about how they feel and what's been bothering them, things start to look up. Grovyle and Breloom's presence starts to make things feel more hopeful. Breloom's heartfelt speech to hero is exactly what they need.

They refuse to fight Shaymin because despite their instincts, they don't really want to. They let Chatot help them and finally fess up about Cresselia. I feel like the game starts to feel... Warmer? Returning to the guild almost feels just like explorers of sky again, and the world stops feeling so hostile. The guild becomes a place of support and the townspeople wanna help instead of fighting, too. It's... Nice.

This game just does a really good job of walking you through what hero feels, y'know?

Designs for my team for Explorers of the Spirit: Team Alpine (Emil and Snapdragon). I simultaneously love and hate this game (due to how unfair it is).

One's a Darkrai reincarnation and the other is a Turtwig/Axew crossbreed. They're both absolute messes. (Snapdragon isn't technically a cross-breed in canon, but I thought it'd be cool.)

This actually terrifies me tbh because in boss fights your team is ALWAYS on the bottom. Facing whoever is in front of you. You're the heroes and they're the villains. Except it's switched now;; Team Skull is on the bottom facing THEIR enemies. The protag is really turning out to be more and more of a threat, enough that even Team Skull is afraid of them;; are we. Going to be the villains of this story? That is INSANE to me

Decided to finally give Explorers of the Spirit a play-through!

I took the liberty of editing both Echo and Sora using SkyTemple (and editing sprites for them), so that I could experience the game perfectly for the first time.

I am so excited to experience this romhack, especially since everyone that has recommended it seems to absolutely love the story. I'll probably be a crying mess at the end. We'll see if I can manage to tough through it all and come out in one piece (who am I kidding? I will cry, I know it).

Another reason that I am extremely excited is because I heard that this game was influenced by the Hero/Darkrai fan theory (though it may not be exactly the same?)

So obviously I had to tweak Echo's moveset a little and give her both the move Dark Void and also the secondary ability Bad Dreams. For the theme, ya know? I need the maximum amount of angst possible. I wanna suffer emotionally.

Anyway. This is gonna be fun <3
