I've been sick and have a lot of free time on my hands now so I've picked up fallout 3 again and I just can't get the idea of a yandere companion out of my head.
It would fit the setting pretty well. An ever loyal follower that happily carries your stuff and follows you around while also protecting you from the various dangers of the wastes. They happily take items that you are having trouble fitting in your pockets saying "don't worry about that dear. I can carry it for you".
Following you is their greatest pride. They can see all of the jealous looks they get from other wasteland filth that can only ever dream of accompanying someone as great as you. It makes them feel very proud and smug in all honesty. The fact that they were chosen over everyone else.
Should you tell them to wait somewhere they might say "well alright... Just remember to come back when you are done okay? You're not just telling me to stay here to leave me right? You wouldn't do that to me... right?" And as soon as you get back, regardless of how long it has been, they cling to you. Excited to be back in your company and ready to prove that you never need to leave them ever again because that was torture for them.
On the more domestic side of things they would absolutely be incharge of home care and maintenance. Leaky roof? No problem, they'll just pop up there real quick and patch it up real quick. Floors are dirty? We'll pass them a mop, a bucket, some Abraxo Cleaner and some water and they'll get right to it. Tummy grumbling? They have some brahmin steak ready to be cooked. You want to help with any of it? No no no. Please, they insist. It's only right that they take care of you at home after all you do (or have done) for the wasteland. Home is where you get to relax and be pampered! You won't have to lift a finger. (Plus, if they do this for long enough you won't be able to imagine a home without them in it, taking care of you)
