Thank you!! The last 20 minutes or so were electric and all the goal celebrations were crazy, they lasted sooo long. I've seen a lot of stuff online about how great the atmosphere was and how they should play here more often so guess it wasn't just me which I love

Oh, and the cutest thing ever was at the end when Julie-Ann Russell was announced as POTM she went over to get her baby daughter and she looked sooo happy and the whole team was so cute with the baby too 🥹

Also, Eve had one amazing pass in the first half, it was so good the crowd went oooh and they didn't react to anything france did otherwise 😅

The performers we remember are the ones who transplant us, with seemingly no effort, into the worlds they inhabit. Alycia Debnam-Carey has this very quality, and her artistry makes her the keystone of Fear the Walking Dead. A character's evolution is only partially the responsibility of the writers. The majority of the work is carried by the actor who must often simultaneously show a character's thoughts, history, emotional conflicts and physical strains without the use of speech. Every new character they portray is a canvas they are constantly painting, and they must always be mindful of what has been put on them before. In the episode, Still Standing (5x7), Alicia Clark's one-woman crusade turns into a one-woman rescue mission that brings her face-to-face with internal and external antagonists. It's especially enthralling because she doesn't view her heroism for what it is, but we witness the best qualities of humanity in her actions. It's no wonder that Debnam-Carey's latest gripping performance earned her our readers' votes for July's SpoilerTV Outstanding Performer of the Month.

So to those who follow me for crochet: the PotM for July is going to be late. In the last month 1) My dad had double bypass surgery, 2) my mom fell and broke her neck, and 3) I started a new job. Things have been just a little loony.

Really happy we won today!! Alyssa continues to show how quietly exceptional she is. I am curious to know what you thought of the rest of the team’s play today though. To me they seemed a little sloppy.

Ok. Listen. Let’s talk about Abby. That’s where I want to start.

Abby. Who has been responsible for like close to a half dozen of the goals we’ve given up + plenty more close calls.

This was something that was obvious long enough ago that something actually could’ve been done about it. But teams spent too damn long going at Crystal thinking they’d break us down through a converted back that they didn’t realize our biggest weakness on that whole damn field was right up the gut. No one was out there trying to expose that space between Abby and Becky or Abby and Kelley because of one Julie Ertz née Johnston (one of the commentators called her that the other day and I was like yes, my google still calls her Julie Johnston too let’s go with that). JJ hid that issue like some good concealer because who tf is stupid enough to try to work the ball through the woman who far and away would have been POTM (and should be POTY I don’t care that she didn’t play for months) if Alyssa Fucking Naeher weren’t so goddamn out of her mind CALM stepping up to all those PKs? No one, not when you can attack a part-time mid and a 32-year-old with fragile ankles and a penchant for playing just on the wrong side of aggressive. And we were like, it’s cool, look how good our defense is. Except we’re not the only ones who watch film, and other teams took notice while JJ was out rehabbing.

I am a “stick with the ones who brung you” typa girl when it comes to the five in the back. Rotate whomever you want on the rest of the pitch for fresh legs and whatnot, but don’t fuck with the chemistry between your goalkeeper and your backline. And I am now here to say - loudly, because I can admit when I am wrong - “fuck that.” No, really. Put Tierna in.

Now I think a lot of y’all thought I was not a fan of Abby way back when because of my well-documented love for Emily Sonnett. But I’m not an idiot and I don’t think Sonnett is a center back. It was a purely soccer thing, not a love for cute blondes from Georgia with a penchant for dancing, good coffee, and Lindsey Horan. If there ever was a time to make a change, it’s now, and if there ever was a team to do it against, it’s Canada. Because if we don’t figure that part of the field out, what are we even doing?

Moving on. In all of the PK madness, I think Lynn is going to be forgotten. Particularly, that Vlatko made her an alternate and the only reason we have moved onto the semifinal is because a rule change allowed him to eat his decision and go back to the press he had been trying to perfect ever since Alex got pregnant. Guess what? Our press was the best it had been all tournament when the game kicked off. No one can run a press like Lynn Williams can run a press. Vlatko said as much way back when. And then he made her his side piece. Why’d he waste so damn much time on building a press around her then? I don’t care if she scores or not like I don’t care if Alex scores or not. That’s not what they’re on the pitch for. Guess what else? Lynn Williams with miles on her is still faster and still has more endurance than our “fresh” front line. Can someone smarter than me explain why Carli Lloyd is getting the minutes she’s getting? I would like to go back to “worst time of my life” Carli of the kill off the game Jill Ellis era please. And Pinoe isn’t it. She should’ve been subbed on when it was clear the game was going to PKs, not that early. Are we relying on nostalgia now?

Speaking of… I can’t be the only one who thinks, based on the starting lineup, that Vlatko was actually thinking this game was going to go to ET, can I? You leave Rose Lavelle’s left foot just chilling on the bench against the team it owns? Yeah? Ok sure because you know she can’t go 120. And Christen and Alex can’t either. Is that brilliant managing or is that more of the “play it safe” mentality we’re seeing in Vlatko now that the going’s getting tough? Dude is stressed to the point that he’s twitching. None of us make good decisions when stressed.

Sam is still not Sam despite the goal. The energy and dominance aren’t there, her passes aren’t clean. Lindsey is still not Lindsey, and I don’t just mean in terms of finishing. Where’s my best box-to-box mid? The not just good service, but exceptional service she brings? She’s close, but something’s off. Even Crystal isn’t as sharp. Christen isn’t making runs she should be.

We’re still not us. I think we’re a good enough us that we can handle Canada (provided that Nichelle doesn’t put on a masterclass against Kelley), but I want the cohesive midfield that’s supported by the outside backs up the wings and gets beautiful movement from our frontline us. I want the don’t let them out of our offensive third us, not in bursts, but all the time. I want the us with bite, not the us that spends hours watching film to fight about 6 inches. Because you know what? Six fucking inches don’t matter much when you’ve got a team that is no longer at the point of leaving everything on the field for each other like they were when they hated Jill.

In conclusion, it’s time to poach Dawn Scott back from the English. Offer that woman whatever tf she wants I don’t care. She was good for their mentality as much as she was for their fitness and we are missing her.

Princess of the Moon Ultimate - announced + pre-registration

And the old Princess of the Moon will not be discontinued. However new content will be in PotM Ultimate.

On release, Dean’s route will be released, and in Sept 2018, Cyril will be released.

Due to some club-related issues, captains and assistants did not vote this month and only none playing eligible voters were allowed to have their decision. Having acknowledged the impressive performance of AKINMUSERE OPEYEMI, it was a frantic battle to measure who contributed more to the team within the time between 5-time POTM winner YAKUB SHAMSU MUSTAPHA who scored 5 and assisted 4 and center-back OLAJIDE DANIEL who made 40 blocks and over 30 interceptions in the period. A consensus was reached and May POTM's first runner-up OLAJIDE DANIEL was adjudged the POTM for August.
