#Repost @pour_a_vida How do you feel about a spicy brew? I’ve had some that had an overwhelming amount of heat that took over and I’ve had some that have been dialed in and have been really enjoyable. In my opinion @icarusbrewing always does a great job with Pineapple Hindenburg. In fact I’d even take a little more heat in this batch! Pineapple Hindenburg is a oated and spelted American Pale Ale Heavily dry hopped with Lupulin Citra and Experimental Bru-1 and conditioned habanero peppers and an overwhelming amount of fresh pineapple! This is always an enjoyable and easy drinking beer with a ton of pineapple on the nose and tasting notes of sweet citrus and pineapple followed by a subtle spicy tickle in the back of your throat from the habanero. As most of you know I love to visit Icarus and I want to give them a huge thank you for their hospitality and great service! If you’re in the Jersey Shore area it’s a must stop! Happy birthday! @pour_a_vida Are things getting foggier for you as you get older? Today is my birthday so I thought it would be appropriate to start with a can of Life is Foggier (7% ABV) from @monkishbrewing! Life is Foggier is a Double Dry Hopped (DDH) IPA w/ Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Galaxy hops. These are three of my favorite hops and this single was awesome! I’d have to go with anything Sue that @topplingbrews puts out, so I was naturally excited for this collaboration they did with @blackstackbrewing! Jurassic Park is a TIPA dialed in at 10.1% And brewed with Earth-rattling quantites of Black Stack’s Hand-Selected Citra & Citra Cryo, TG’s Hand Selected Citra & that new hotness, Riwaka, from their super secret stash. This one was smooth, hoppy, and slightly bitter. Tropical fruit and citrus flavors led the way in this full bodied beer while finishing with a touch of sweetness and a nice and soft mouthfeel. #Repost @pour_a_vida ・・・ Who remembers having brown bag lunches growing up? I always had my brown bag going to school and I ate a ton of PB&J! Brown Bag Lunches from @weatheredsoulsbrewing is a fruited sour with peanut butter, blueberries, and graham crackers coming in at 5.3%. This one is as advertised, a good amount of peanut butter and subtle tartness. Blueberry comes through well along with just a taste of graham cracker. This one is well balanced between the sweetness, tartness, and the peanut butter aspect. The subtle graham cracker contributes to a pastry sour feel. I also love Star Wars so I had to get my hands on the May the 4th mixed four pack that @creativecreaturebrewing (El Cajon, CA) put out! They really nailed the can art and the beers were also very well done. This beer, called Yodalé, is a coconut lager at 5%! When I saw this beer I knew it’d be perfect to enjoy by the pool. Yodalé is crisp, refreshing, and has a nice smooth coconut finish. I really enjoyed the coconut that came through and think it’s a great addition to a lager! #Repost @pour_a_vida Happy National IPA Day! What are you drinking to celebrate?! I’m drinking Plates on Plates from @otherhalfnyc (Brooklyn, NY), an Imperial IPA coming in hot at 10%. Other Half used a whole mess of hops in this one including Citra, Mosaic, Cashmere, Galaxy, Motueka, Simcoe, and El Dorado. At 10% it goes down easy and there is only slight traces of booze. #Repost @pour_a_vida ・・・ Who puts out the most consistent IPAs in your area? For me, if I’m including NY I’d say it would have to be @otherhalfnyc but that’s probably not surprising. Vapor Ringz is no exception and is an incredible DIPA. This one is coming in at 8.4% and is an Imperial Oat Cream IPA with 2-row, wheat, and oats then hopped with Citra, Galaxy, and Nelson. I don’t need to tell you how creamy and amazing the mouthfeel is. This beer has all the normal tasting notes we love from the Citra and Galaxy hops but it finishes with that nice white grape flavor that I love from Nelson hops! I don’t pay much attention to untappd ratings but this deserves its 4.45 IMO! . . Don’t forget to show some support to small business during this time. A great small business is @beerthirtyapparel. #Repost @pour_a_vida ・・・ What’s your favorite beer series? Luminous is a series of sour IPAs from @greatnotion (Portland, OR) and each batch is uniquely different. Luminous 06 is a rainbow sherbet inspired sour IPA conditioned on layers of raspberry, orange, lime, vanilla, and milk sugar. They really nailed the sherbet flavor and I particularly enjoyed a little note of bitter citrus in the flavor. Luminous 06 comes in at 5.75% and is very easy to drink. #Repost @pour_a_vida ・・・ Did you do anything good over the weekend? We had great weather over the weekend so I ended up in the pool the entire time while grabbing some great beers. One of the highlights was Stay Home 2 by @eviltwinbrewing and they knocked it out of the park. Stay Home 2 was a delicious sour IPA with watermelon, apricot, and lime! This beer came in at 7% and had a ton of watermelon up front, followed by notes of apricot, lime, and stone fruit. Stay Home 2 is slightly tart and goes down easy! Cheers! . . #Repost @pour_a_vida ・・・ Did you have a family vacation spot growing up? When I was younger we always went to Long Beach Island. When I was older and out of the house my parents bought a house in the Poconos that I loved. You get everything up there from mountains, skiing, water parks, and hiking to name a few! It reminded me of all the great times we had up there when I received beer from @wallenpaupackbrewingco! I wanted to be on the lake up there when I took a shot for these beers but instead I went on a trail near my house. These beers were definitely enjoyable and a great variety. First I tried the No Frills Pils! This one was brewed with German malt and hops! Light, crisp, and refreshing! Next was the Paupack Cream Ale. This was also crisp and refreshing with a subtle cream ale flavor. Third was the Wake Surfer White IPA! This one is combination of a witbier and an IPA. They brewed this with coriander and sweet orange peel as well as Citra, Huell Melon, and Mandarina Bavaria hops. A good amount of citrus on the nose and in the flavor. It was again refreshing and light with a subtle bitterness on the backend! I could crush any of these as the warmer weather comes in! If you’re in the Poconos I’d take a few hours to stop by the brewer in Hawley, PA!
