Static on the ends of his hair, Kaminari couldn’t contain just how excited he was after finally passing an exam that should’ve taken him just one try ( and in reality took him THREE ) nearly bouncing as he approached the other, a poor victim of his energetic nature. Next stop, thanking Momo for helping him study for once.

lips press into a thin line , repressing words that dare to vocalize without thought . was her anguish written so plainly on her face that usagi would offer a listening ear without prompt ? she’s too perceptive . both a wonderful and vexing trait , finding it hard to hide anything from her blonde friend . a sigh draws from previously sealed lips , shoulders dropping , trying to disperse the weight of tension in them . emi shouldn’t have to carry it alone , not matter how strong she is physically . just a child burden with too many emotional problems and worries . that shouldn’t be usagi’s problem either         and guilt prevents emi from divulging immediately .

❝ it's not really anything . just dumb parent stuff , you know ? mom’s back on her bullshit , like always . the usual . ❞   emi feigns nonchalance , waving a hand as if to dismiss the conversation from present mind . its claws remain but she manages to change conversation with a strained , optimistic tone .   ❝ you’ve been doing good in class . saw the test scores posted the other day . you’re two whole steps up from the last time . must feel good , huh ? ❞

pushing the conversation onto academics feels forced but it’s the only thing she can think of to switch the topic onto . not that emi is particularly interested in schooling or grades , especially after exams ; this line of questioning out of character . usagi must have noticed because she’s absolutely not taking the bait , arms crossed and brow rising , like she’s waiting expectantly for emi to fess up . emi pauses a few second , breath bated , then again released heavily , blowing strands of stray hair out of her face , hand moving to prop up her face and look away , gazing out the window next to her seat .

❝ you’re so persistent . it’s annoying …❞   biting words have no real menace or venom behind them . emi remains silent , just a beat more . before relenting , real tension subsiding as she decides to disclose overrunning feelings .   ❝ you know i’m not good at talking about this crap . like i said . parent stuff . mom is trying to see me but i’m … not ready to see her . i don’t trust her . what if         she’ll use her quirk on me , try to force me into acting again . i can’t do that . ❞
