⚡️ DEADLINE MONDAY JUNE 24! ⚡️ BIG INK is visiting the @caccolumbus in Columbus, OH. CAC is opening their doors for a two-day event where large-scale woodblock plates will be printed on BIG INK's giant mobile etching press "The Big Tuna." BIG INK is seeking image proposals from artists who would like to carve a woodblock, at least 24" x 36" inches in dimension, to print at the event. Our program is geared towards all experience levels. Artists who wish to achieve a deeper understanding of printmaking are welcome to apply. Participants gain a greater sense of scale and produce ambitious work all while having the support and encouragement of their peers. Artists must first submit an image proposal for consideration. Those selected will have two months prior to the event to carve their woodblock design. Each artist brings a fully carved and ready to print woodblock on their assigned printing day. As a group, we work together to print each artist's woodblock during a public demonstration. All consumable materials including paper, ink, cleaning supplies, equipment, and photography of the finished work are included with participation. Participants are guided through the entire process by BIG INK. We provide a robust educational series which includes over 70 minutes of video instruction. BIG INK provides recommendations on pricing and exhibiting your finished work. We make ourselves available through phone and email if artists have questions. Start your New Year with @biginkprints ! Challenge yourself with a resolution that teaches new skills, connects you with a great group of artists, and helps you create a massive piece of artwork! ••• We want you to join us for large-scale woodblock printing @marylandhall on Mar 29 & 30. Artists are invited to submit a design proposal by Jan 21. 🔥 ••• During the print bonanza we will be utilizing BIG INK's giant mobile press to pull prints up to 40” x 96” in dimension. Those accepted will have two months prior to the event to carve their image into a piece of plywood. BIG INK's role is to make the production of a large-scale woodblock accessible and easy to understand. We hope to make the experience rewarding and informative by imparting our knowledge of preferred materials and techniques. A materials guide and series of step-by-step videos walk participants through the process. Prints made at this event will be included in an exhibit at Maryland Hall in April. ••• BIG INK is designed for printmakers who understand basic woodblock principles but want to expand their expertise and working scale. The program is also designed for those not yet trained in woodblock but whose aesthetic would lend itself to the medium. This includes illustrators, sculptors, designers, and painters who use bold outlines and graphic patterning. ••• It is free to submit a proposal; accepted artists pay $300 dollars to participate. This covers all consumable materials for the event including printing ink, paper, cleaning supplies, equipment usage and photography of the finished work.
