Private Clinic - Psychiatry

Ever want to do something to help all the messed up Sims in your town? With this mod, your Sim can run a private clinic as a therapist.
You can join the Psychiatry career, buy a Therapist couch and start treating patients for all their emotional and mental maladies. Using a clinic controller object, patients will be pushed to your clinic lot in need of treatment. Active patients can be identified by the orange and white symbol over their head (pictured above).
This is the first part of a larger game mod that allows Sims to be more active doctors similar to what we have in TS4 Get to Work. Your Sim will be able to run a clinic out of their house or from a commercial lot and treat patients for different ailments. Eventually you'll be able to play as a Psychiatrist, Optometrist, Ob-GyM, or a General Physician.
This mod also adds two additional features:
Medicine - Sims can buy prescription or over-the-counter medicine to treat various mild ailments. Medicines can be purchased at the grocery store (Home section) or Buy catalog. There is also a collection file where you can find all available objects. Prescription medicine can only be obtained at the grocery store or hospital with a prescription.
Drug Addiction - Sims can get addicted to the prescription medicine if they overuse it. This can lead to withdrawal symptoms and potential overdose. There is an option to go to rehab at the hospital for Sims that need the help to kick the habit.
You need NRaas Careers (for the custom career), University, Island Paradise, Ambitions EPs.

The Private Clinic main module has all the medicines, the clinic controller and addiction system. You need that to play as a Therapist but if you just want the medicines, you only need to download these files. Note that you cannot write prescriptions or do anything doctor related without downloading the Psychiatry module. Download here
There is also a collection file which has all the available objects
The Psychiatry module is required to play as a therapist. The career is optional but some features won't be available without it. Download here
There are documentation files in both folders that go through the features in detail so PLEASE READ through them before downloading.

Oops! All Updates (and Fixes)!

I've got a bunch of fixes and updates to some of my older mods and I decided to release them all in a batch. Please read below for the details to see what has been changed and then links to the files to redownload and replace in your game.
If this is your first time downloading, obviously you'll need to download everything and you should read the original post for more information.

Voidcritters Mod

Fixed Read Card Stats animation
Added a new interaction to allow your sims to talk about and compare their cards. Sims will build relationship, gain skill and train their critters a little as well (the cards will vibrate as the critters train up)
Giving a rare or limited edition card to another Sim will yield a higher relationship boost.
Previously there was no way to get all 22 cards in the game as you only get one of the two Limited Edition cards. I've fixed that by adding the chance to also get Limited Edition cards by reading a Voidcritters comic book. There's a 25% chance if you have less than level 8 skill and 45% if 8 or higher.
Now that Sims can collect all cards, I've added a new skill opportunity. Sims that collect all the cards will get the Critter Collector reward and going forward their cards will be worth more.

Student Council Mod

The Collect Signatures interaction now has a more appropriate animation of a sim collecting signatures
Increased the chances that more inactive council members will autonomously raise funds and collect signatures
The campaign tracker will no longer show blank information after you've closed out and restarted the game
All campaign icons will now show up in the notifications
Fixed an issue where the Sim would reset when submitting signatures for the Teacher Pay school campaign
Reduced the skilling level for council roles while at the afterschool activity

Hang Out Mod

Children and teens can now hang out in groups. Simply click on one of the two Sims hanging out and select “Hang Out with X and his/her friends” (you need to have LTR 30 or higher)
A child or a teen hanging out can also invite another friend to join them
I think you can have up to 8 Sims given that I have 7 in the photo and there's still room.
Added liking VFX and speech bubbles when hanging out

Washer+Dryer Combo

I created a new mesh for the washer/dryer so it slots under the counter like dishwashers and trash compactors.
Added a stacked washer/dryer tower. This still uses the same script as the single appliance so you can’t run the washer and the dryer at the same time. 
Changed out the pod and detergent box meshes
Important: If you have the old version, you need to replace with this or remove it. You can't have both the old version and this one in your game or it will CTD. Also, the script is in the Combo file so you still need to download both if you only want the stacked tower version.

Private Clinic (BASE)

The clinic controller will now push Sims that have certain traits as well, such as Neurotic, Commitment Issues, Insane, Hotheaded, etc.
Once pushed to the clinic, Sims will find a chair to sit in and then wait for an hour to be seen by a doctor. After an hour, they will stop waiting with an annoyed message (you can still see them though).
Waiting patients now identified with a custom headline effect
Prenatal vitamins no longer have a weight loss effect (as I'm putting a similar feature in the breastfeeding aspect of the obgym module, it's not needed here)
Updated the Buy and Sell Pills animations
Updated the comically large horsepill mesh to make it smaller and more realistic. The animation has been updated as well
Updated the write prescription animation
Updated the apply ointment animation

Updated the patient records layout to avoid text overflow
Sims can now do their coping mechanisms (breathing exercises and mindfulness) while sitting

It's been a while so I thought I'd share some Private Clinic wip updates with y'all.

I'm pretty much finished with the Optometry module. With it, certain Sims will get an astigmatism and will need prescription glasses. Sims will need to get regular check ups to avoid worsening their astigmatism. There are also other issues Sims can get, particularly kids and elders that optometrists can treat. It's the smallest of the 5 medical modules I've planned so that's about the extent of it but as someone who's been wearing glasses since I was 10. It makes me happy to curse my Sims with an astigmatism too.
Also added some new features to the Clinic Controller to make it easier to run a clinic, including the ability to schedule appointments, either for yourself or for a family member (even babies and toddlers), which you can do in person or online.

I've started on the ObGyM stuff now for females/pregnant Sims though it's really more just obstetrics. Here's my Obgym giving an ultrasound to a patient (and probably prescribing she get a new husband 😅).

Pregnant Sims can get ultrasounds, blood tests and examinations to make sure the pregnancy is on track. Having daily check ups will improve the pregnancy and ensure a healthy baby or avoid any issues. You'll also get a sonogram from the ultrasound to show to other Sims to announce your pregnancy.

Thanks so much to everyone that replied to my request for pregnancy ideas, some of which I've incorporated. The module makes pregnancies less predictable and a bit more challenging. Being pregnant drains hunger, bladder and energy, gives variable due dates and weight gain, and monitors blood pressure, blood sugar and iron levels which are affected by diet and can bring on health complications if too high or low. Sims also get more nausea, heartburn, gas (fun!). I'm also thinking of making the pregnancy books more useful by including information about how the custom pregnancy state by reading them.

I love the original NonaMena breastfeeding mod but have always wanted something that has more impact for both nursing parents and babies so it makes sense to incorporate it into the obgym module where nursing has health benefits for the baby. Also the state/health of the mother affects how effective nursing is and how it impacts the baby. Stressed moms may have trouble producing milk.

Finally, I have decided to do live hospital births so OBs can deliver babies in the clinic. I'll share more details on that at a later date but I'm excited to put some interesting gameplay aspects in it.

Update: Thanks to everyone for all the really useful and creative ideas! I think I have a lot to go on now in terms of fleshing out the module. I'll be sharing updates once I get the script code to my liking. Stay tuned!
My current favorite Sim is preggers so I'm feeling the private clinic vibes again. I will probably work on some animations and do some testing during holiday downtime.
I would be interested in building out the Ob-GyM module into something more substantial (rather than just a side note to the General Practice module) but not sure what more you can do with pregnant Sims in the game and I can't commit to go the Pandasama route. They basically created a whole EP and that's just too involved for my ADHD brain.
So if anyone has ideas of some not too in-depth features for an Ob-GyM (the M stands for male pregnancies), let me know! Especially from any IRL prego or parent Simmers out there -- lend me your experiences!
So far doctors can:
Give ultrasounds (and patients receive a sonogram)
take blood tests
I've also updated the clinic controller so it has individualized settings for psychiatry and obgym, the latter will push pregnant Sims
Maybe something around nursing mothers? I was thinking about a breastfeeding mod that has more effects on the baby so the mother's health/mood affects the baby if she breastfeeds. Maybe like a custom Nursing buff that affects mood/motives/behaviors?
I've never been pregnant so open to ideas!

I'm making a second post to address a second point. It's more of a request really. Basically me and my irl gf LOVE going to arcade. The sims 3 has a lot of arcade machines, but not a lot of arcade functionality. Would it be possible to make a mod where the machines give out tickets (similar to festival tickets) that you can exchange for high quality items at the kiosk? Also, adding more prizes to claw machines (I love collection plushies from claw machines, my room is stuffed).
Yeah, I hate how all the arcade machines are free, that's super annoying. I would actually want something where you have to buy festival tickets to use them rather than getting festival tickets from using them. I do know someone has said they wanted to work on a mod that is basically what you are saying so depending on where they are with it, stayed tuned!

Hiya and thanks! I think? Not sure if I should take that "yuck" personally since I was the one that converted and edited the gym board. 😅 But I appreciate you sandwiching your mild insult between compliments. 😭😭 To answer your questions, (1) Transmogrifier or create your own object and put the script in the OBJK file (Note: the board has a routing slot so you need to make sure whatever object you replace it with also has the same slots or it will be unusable), and (2) replace the MODL files of the ingredients and the linked texture images with your own mesh. You probably also should regenerate a new thumbnail for it so it shows as your replaced ingredient. I usually just delete my Thumbnails cache.

Totally inspired by @phoebejaysims's exciting-looking Club Mod, I decided to try my hand at a custom UI for the clinic patient files. It was kind of a pain and things probably would have gone faster if I hadn't had two cocktails while modding 😅but I'm generally pleased with the result.
I definitely want to make some more customizations in the future but I'll leave it as is for now until I work on the GP module and become more familiar with editing LAYO files.

Wow, I just have to say thank you so much for sharing your incredible mods with us! I recently installed your private clinic mod with the psychiatry module to my game and let me tell you, it has been an absolute blast. Your skills are seriously impressive and I am constantly amazed by the new features you're able to add to the game. When I read in one of the documentations that you were planning on adding more modules, including obstetrics, I couldn't help but wonder if you might also add custom pregnancy interactions and animations similar to the ones Pandasama made for her mod for the sims 4? It would be a game-changer for the sims 3 community and I would absolutely love it! I wish I had the same level of intelligence and creativity as you modders to be able to share such wonderful contributions to the game. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done!
Hiya and thanks for such nice comments! 🥰 I'm really glad you're enjoying the mod. Sadly, animations are my Achilles heel. I can do as best as repurposing existing or converted animations and basic jazz files and that's about it. Even props give me endless headaches! 😖 So the likelihood of me doing something even remotely close to the amazing work Pandasama has done with their pregnancy mod is incredibly slim. The ObGyM module will just allow pregnant Sims to get an ultrasound from the doctor (and a sonogram afterwards), information on the progress of their pregnancy (e.g. how far along they are, gender of baby, etc.). Doctors won't be able to deliver babies like they can in the TS4 mod or in GTW. Sorry!

Here is a tester Sim messing up an ultrasound for a patient (also his stepmother). As you can see, I need to fix the exam bed animations so Sims don't sink into it.

I wanted to let you know that I love your mods. 2 of them especially. The religion mod and the Medical Mod (Psychiatrist). I am wondering though, when will the additional mods be available? My medical sims are waiting very impatiently, I might add, to get their careers started. They have already been to their university and currently are in their internships. Thank you for your time, for creating these wonderful mods.
Short answer: No idea
Longer answer: I work off vibes and right now, the vibes aren't vibing. This is just a hobby for me so if I'm not feeling it, I'm not going to do it. Add in real life, my other hobbies, other modding projects, summer travel coming up, I can't give any timetable of when a mod of this size will be ready. But hopefully this year?
Conclusion: don't wait on me to continue your sims storylines. Keep playing!

Hi, how are you? I was wondering if there’s any updates on your private clinic or doctor mod? Are you working on it?
Yes. I'm going to spend the next week or so doing fixes/updates to some old mods I have on here and then I'm back on that Private Clinic ish! I'm excited to get back to it and will be working on the obstetrics/gynecology (and maybe some pediatrics) module next as well as doing some light updates (mostly cosmetic) to the Psychiatry. Stay tuned!

I am currently using the psychiatry mod & I have a npc as the psychiatrist, whenever my sim sits on the couch for an evaluation she resets back home. Is there anything to resolve this issue
I assume you mean an inactive sim (as in a Sim you can play but is not currently in your controllable household) and not an actual NPC. It sounds like the mod is trying to reference something either your active Sim or the inactive therapist does not have but without more information (ideally an ErrorTrap file), I can't help much beyond that.
If you have ErrorTrap, you can send me the log the next time this happens.

Is it normal to not have a moodlet from the pills ? Im using the psychiatrist module. & if not what should i do
I assume you're talking about the Teamocil (prescription pills)? If so and you are using them to treat an actual issue then you won't get any moodlets but rather negative moodlets will be decreased. If you are abusing them then your mood will increase. You only get a Euphoric high moodlet after abusing at least twice and the moodlet comes 6 hours after taking it. If none of the above is happening, then let me know.

Trying to acquire Teamocil in the clinic mod fires a script error after the sim is done doing the pharmacy interaction. They go in, and instead of exiting the hospital that's when they reset and go back to their house. Then the prescription item is consumed and they have no medicine in their inventory.
Sounds like you are missing the medicine object. Confirm that you have it installed in the game (ATS3_object_health_Teamocil). If you've merged it with other files, redownload it and put in your mods folder as a separated file as something could have gotten deleted in the merge process if it's being overwritten by another file. Otherwise let me know.
