Hi! Been a waterparks AND atl fan for years so I’m throwing in my two cents. First of all I don’t really trust the waterparks fan claiming to know atlstatement. One of your other anons mentioned that, I haven’t seen it myself tho. Twitter parx fans are always making stuff up over there tho - a couple months ago there was huge drama because someone was claiming to be pregnant with awsten’s baby and that he was in a polycule with a 16 year old, or the drama from when someone randomly decided awsten was going to sell an NFT (it’s wild idk how I’ve managed to still like the band after interacting with these people). They truly just make shit up to rile each other up, and tbh poor awsten gets “cancelled” like once a year. The fan base is so toxic that parx can’t hold onto most fans for more than a few months before people dramatically leave the band, and they usually make up some moral reason to do so and cause a shitstorm while they leave too. Definitely agree with everyone saying awsten feeds this and is chronically online. Not an excuse but he literally writes songs about being so scared of his fans lol. He gives them what they want tho- he’s kicked off openers that twitter didn’t like more than once, and right now they seem to think he has any authority over this festival lineup like that. It’s really performative tho, because they’ll throw hissy fits like this every few weeks but still act like waterparks are sweet babies who don’t know any better. Like sorry but awsten knight is 30 years old, he doesn’t need a 15 year old minecraft youtuber stan to be his mommy. K sorry for ranting in ur asks!! I obviously can’t say this to other waterparks fans lol, and sorry on behalf of waterparks fans for their behavior towards y’all

As much as this all sounds absolutely batshit none of it surprises me lol Awsten’s presence & persona absolutely feed the unhinged and younger skewing (internet) culture around that band which is both brilliant and fucking terrifying.
