Sometimes, when I'm not sure what I should be doing at work, I like to sit and think about things for a while. If I'm thinking steadily about one thought for a length of time--so into it I can't be distracted by other possible things to do such as "phone games" or "go to the lab and push buttons" or "my actual assignments"--I'll write down all my thoughts so I don't forget and have to reinvent them later. Maybe draw some pictures. I'll happily sit there doing that for hours, until I've filled several powerpoint slides and it's past time to go home.

And then I'll send it to my boss as an unexpected and unsolicited memo, because at my old job I was scolded for not being sufficiently communicative.

（left）Kenny---Her family was very busy when she was little. The most independent of us all. She was the one who smiled the most whenever she saw her family (something she never realized). I initially wanted to help her shoot in her apartment but she said “this meal might be good or I wouldn't be smiling so much”. So I took this picture of her while we were out to dinner.

（right）Bella---I've known her since kindergarten. She has been exceptionally well-behaved since she was a child. I'm told this is the first picture she ever volunteered to have taken. Because that day they moved to a new house to live with their grandparents. She said it was a super happy day for her. To this day the place of her family in her heart is unrivaled.

Selected Assignment 1- Making it Real

To push my project3: making it real further more, I plan to restrict the projection mapping inside my 3D printing chair, so that the vedio of the flower flying will only show in the chair area. There are some challenges, for example in Blender, I made the chair with mirrow tool, so when it comes to Touch Designer, the mapping seems symmetrical. Also the flowers in the vedio curve into strange shape because the chair isn't flat.

As my tutor Ian suggested, I will try another way which is layout the outline of the chair and try to map it in 2D instead of 3D.

The theme of this project is to design an activity for a park. My starting point is to design an activity for a traditional festival for the park. Since the Spring Festival has just passed and the Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China, I chose a local park in Zhejiang Province, and the center of the park is a temple. For this project，I asked my friends to share with me their favorite photos from when they were kids and tell me the story behind them. I found everyone's stories to be very original and interesting. And the stories reflect some of their traits very well even now!

（left）Marina---Marina told me that her family grew up telling her how rice grows is shaped by people. Just like different choices in life everyone grows differently. That's why she's very brave now, and she believes that “all roads lead to Rome”. This is rare in traditional Asian thinking. She loves the school's underpass because she feels she can get where she wants to go no matter how she goes. That's why I chose to take her photo here.
