Today we dived the wreck of the SS Yongala outside of Ayr, Australia. The Yongala sank in a cyclone (hurricane) on March 23,1911, with all 122 soles on board tragically lost. Consistently rated one of the top ten dive sites in the world, It was somewhat eerie diving around the well-preserved tomb. And while we didn’t have the best weather conditions or visibility, we were fortunate to swim alongside a great deal of marine wildlife including sea snakes, turtles, guitar sharks (yes, guitar sharks!), massive groupers, trevally and wrasse, marble rays and spotted eagle rays, like this guy.
