Reasons for creating a tumblr: to declare my love for Captive Prince

I love plot twists in stories and CP is like plot twists on steroids. Now, I don't really read a lot of books and there's probably a lot of other books that have great plot twists/reveals but let me just live in this oblivion.

The thing I like the most about CP is how meta it is. Like how we start following Damen who like us is brought in an unfamiliar setting. We both are oblivious to the culture, politics and all in all what's happening in Vere so our reactions to the stuff that's happening is very biased. Many would say Damen is an unreliable narrator and while that is true, I would prefer to say that Damen is a biased narrator. Then stuff happen, and we are slowly fed information which in turn makes us understand (possibly way quicker than Damen haha) what's really happening. Along with Damen, we start to like and care for Laurent whom most of us thought was evil at the start and also along with Damen, we grow hatred towards the actual evil character in the series. The use of perspective in this series is so strong. Like it's a character on its own. And like I said, it's just so meta.

I got one of the big plot twists (or reveals) very early on and that actually is what made me continue the series. I really wanted to know what happens when that info is revealed. But speculation is very different from confirmation. While I think I know the plot twist is while reading the rest of the series, I really didn't think about how that information affects how the characters were acting. So when eveything's been revealed and all, rereading makes the series an entirely different story because a new perspective is offered to the reader. 2 stories for the price of 1. Isn't that a really genius thing? CP is also very subtle, very "read between the lines" type of thing. Every reread, I discover something I didn't think much of before. A random sentence suddenly becomes a lot meaningful. Or I'm just really slow to have finally understood a sentence after how many rereads 😅

I think CP is very misunderstood. And yes, it isn't for everyone. It contains really disturbing stuff. I don't really like outright recommending it to everyone because it simply is not for everyone. I went into the series knowing nothing about it other than it's controversial and because of that, I thought the series was going a certain direction but then I was slapped with a direction I never knew existed, if that makes sense. For everything that book 1 contains, CP has the most respectful romance progression I've ever read. I'm disgusting haters aren't I? To that I say "context matters". But I actually don't like labelling CP as romance-only. I think it would be a disservice to claim that.

To conclude, I would just like to say that I don't find CP to be a perfect series, I too have some issues with it but I love it anyway. It's a very clever series and I don't know if any other story can top it as my favorite.

My experience with long term RPs is that unless you're super fucking lucky, is that it Dies. it doesnt really get a real ending, it just dies; people just stop being active because they get bored or they get busy or they have better stuff to do (which I can't blame them for). And at that point if you want to give it a proper ending you're gonna have to make some sacrifices. The story's gonna have to be shit, and there's not much anyone can do.

 Like with this one RP I was in, when it ended I was just seriously, deeply dissatisfied with the ending. It sucked bc I loved my character and I loved everyone elses' and I loved hanging out with them OOC, but a lot of people left or couldn't be there enough bc of personal shit and so the ending just had to suffer since so many important characters were no longer available.

 The ending sucked and I loved it and it was horrible and it was beautiful and it wasn't what any of us wanted it to be and it didn't say what we wanted it to say and it didn't end how we wanted it to end. But like if we didn't end it, it would have just rotted in time, doing nothing, forever. And that would've sucked even more than a shitty finale, to see something we put so much time and care and love into just like, sit in some sort of weird limbo forever, never ending but never quite going anywhere either.

Yeah, the ending probably could have been a lot better, and most of us had no control over it (it was up to the host), but we worked with what we were given and I still can't help but love it even for its flaws. Which is how I feel about Wilbur's finale stream kind of? Even if it isn’t really the same as a private chat RP. In a way, for me at least, it was kind of like "Let's have a little fun before it’s over. Even if it won't be perfect."

tbh i just made an account there when people from other places (mainly north america & uk) started asking me abt my art prints but i felt like me shipping them from across the world wouldn’t be a good idea, & RB sounded really convenient in that aspect... i already had my own shop (not on RB, but a regular online store dkdhjd) at that point but it was based in brasil only, so it felt nice so find a way to ~expand

but i think if you’re an artist selling prints/stickers/etc & most of the ppl looking into buying it are from your country then i think sticking to making your own shop & being in charge of the making of your products & shipping them & everything else would be WAY better!! like, it’s incomparable

& money wise... it’s really not much lol tbh i wasn’t thinking abt that when i set up my shop, like i said before i just wanted to expand & have my art reaching places where i couldn’t & RB was helpful in that aspect! (but of course, you can always price your art higher so you can get a bigger percentage & if you’re making a good amount of sales then i suppose yes you can make a bit of money? but i’m not an expert on that kdhdks)
