The Linux community runs on respect of competence. We will give you a baseline benefit of the doubt. If you don't know how to google a simple question, that is your problem.

There are (supposedly) a few assholes on certain fora going beyond this limit. Shame be upon them.

It is not hard to be welcomed in. Simply do a little research, share your expertise, be open about the gaps in your knowledge.

It has no formal leadership structure, instead operating through a mixture of trust, reputation, heated argument, and direct intervention by the angry Finnish man.

It is co-ordinated primarily though public e-mail mailing lists. The whole community is famously, proudly hostile to newcomers.

This software runs on most of the computers in the world. All digital infrastructure relies on it.

I have a home server I’m experimenting with, running Ubuntu Server 18.04

Installed LAMP stack via Tasksel

I have one DDNS domain from No-IP that I’m using, logged in with my router

I want to run the multiple services from the one server, with the one DDNS Domain, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible. I’ve asked a couple times in a couple places and I can’t seem to get a definitive answer.

Can I just create multiple Apache virtual hosts, listening for different port numbers?

Or does it require me to have subdomains from my DDNS provider?

Part of the problem is that I don’t know what I don’t know so I’m not sure how to ask what I’m asking

If this is possible, how would I navigate to the difference services? Like for example, a WordPress site or something could be accessible by going to mydomain.ddns.net

But if I also wanted Webmin, for example, to be working, would it be like:

webmin.mydomain.ddns.net

Or

mydomain.ddns.net/webmin

Or

mydomain.ddns.net:webminportnumber

?

Also, do I make separate directors in /var/www, or /var/www/html, or just have everything in one directory?

Apologies for my ignorance but I’m still trying to wrap my head around all this

I have a proprietary device my employer gave me. I already made a python script that can extract it's characteristics into a {uuid: value} dict, I need to play that dict back to my phone with the app.
