i forgor how to draw Ragatha but that does not stop me from sketching her in the Portrait de Madame X pose [under da cut]

Maybe ill redraw that sketch into more detailed piece but for a warmup it`ll suffice

Hey soooo... Anyone else thinking that Ragatha's toxic positivity comes from her not wanting to be like her mom?

Like, the only perspective she has of a person being mean is them being controling and abusive so she tries hard to not fall into that category even if she neglects her true feelings and opinions.

Everytime I see a take saying that they have no sympathy for Ragatha because shes toxic and was horrible to Jax this episode I want to bash my head into a wall /silly

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding what she meant by "Not anymore...". She didn't mean "Oh lmao his friend died" she meant "After he became an asshole everyone stopped wanting to be friends with him" yet Jax misunderstood it as the former. You can tell thats not what she meant because she says as much when she notices him death glaring her. And no, its not an excuse because she "thought he wouldn't hear her". She knew he could probably hear her and expected a different reaction because she meant something different.

I'm so tired of people calling her horrible for making a couple mistakes towards someone whos been blatantly an asshole. I love Jax. I love him a lot, but he doesn't deserve all the sympathy here. Ragatha isn't some secretly evil and toxic person. Shes a person who's fawning as a response to trauma and is making mistakes.

She’s overly positive because her mom was abusive she’s not just a people pleaser she genuinely doesn’t want anyone to feel the way her mom made her feel

Poor Ragatha having such a terrible mom because you can see her genuine happiness when taking about the farm, but the moment she thinks about her mom, the pain and trauma is so visible, not to mention her own words on the matter providing further detail. ;_; ;_; ;_; They animated her expressions so well here (as well as the voice acting was great) because you can just see how on the verge of tears she is the more she talks along with the misery she felt under her mom. ;_; ;_; ;_; Her deflecting at the end though is sadly in character for her since we know she generally tries not to bring people down as well as express how she's really feeling, no doubt brought on by her upbringing to be a "proper lady" and not express negative feelings/her true self in general. :(

Even if she doesn't fully believe her apology, I think Gangle’s smile suggests that she knows Ragatha is trying, and, now knowing a little more about why she is the way she is, makes her feel a little more human.

I think this episode really marked a subtle positive turning point for Ragatha and Gangle’s friendship. In the way that getting to hear Ragatha’s pain with dealing with her mother - getting to see her as someone not strictly optimistic, while sharing her real insecurities and weaknesses- helps Gangle believe a little bit more in Ragatha’s genuineness to keep herself and others from abstraction. Maybe like an, "Okay, I know she's repressing something and this makes her come across as disingenuous most of the time, but at least I know she's trying her best and does actually want the best for everyone here."

Even the softball scene where Gangle actually thanks Ragatha for her advice from the previous episode might've been her way of telling Ragatha she appreciates her efforts.

I... just hope Ragatha actually gets that to click for her before it's too late.

Listen I’ve always heard of/seen female characters being held to higher standards than male characters but MAN it is obvious in the amazing digital circus fandom especially with the fandom’s reaction to Ragatha’s behaviour in episode 5 versus Jax’s behaviour in THE WHOLE SERIES
