(Rx) 1 scoop at each stop
[Scaled] Share with a friend and don’t feel sick at the end (laaaame)
See an example of prior years crawl,  or check it out on #RaincityIceCream on instagram.
Details for this years route will be posted to www.rncty.events and make sure to joing #athletes-icecream on slack!

Pauric: Benchmark Workout & Farewell Sat Sept 10th
Tumblr media
We’re sad to announce that another Raincity favorite is leaving the country :(
He first came in for a free [SC] class Dec of 2017, did a few drop-ins, then decided to do his OnRamp... and has attended 6 days / week (or more) basically every since! Which is how he also managed to hit his 1,000 class attendance just 2 weeks before leaving - earning himself a benchmark that we can all remember him by after he’s gone...
Come join us Saturday Sept 10th for his benchmark workout AND that night we’ll head to Johnnie Fax’s pub (at the end of terminal) to take all Pauric’s money on the pool table so he can’t afford to leave us...
New #RaincityBenchmark Pacing with Pauric
Tumblr media
Since Pauric is not only a beast on the machines, but one of the only members (possibly THE only member?) who actually listens to a coach when they talk about pacing... you better listen if you want to get a top score on his benchmark!

Raincity Barbell Club in House Interclub - Sept 25th
Tumblr media
The interclub is back, and this time better than ever!
Raincity Barbell Club is officiall a BC Weightlifting Association recognized club! And we need YOU to represent us to help us get you more gear!
Coaches James & Thor have been hard at work to get grants to help grow our weightlifting program - and the final stage before we can pickup a few (more) new sets of gear, is club members!
Registering as a BCWA athlete means when you complete the interclub event you will be officiall ranked & will allow you to compete in other sanctioned weightlifting events.
Athlete registration is $55 for the year, and we understand you may not be looking to compete again this year - so we’re going to help you out. Register as a BCWA athlete under Raincity Athletics prior to the interclub, and we’ll apply a $25 membership credit OR a free shirt & you’ll get to lift at the Interclub event for free!
Register as a BCWA athlete: https://bcweightlifting.ca/memberships
For non Raincity BCWA athletes there will be a $25 charge to take part in the interclub event - so you might as well register :)
Event registration will be live soon - but make sure to join the #athletes-barbell channel in slack for updates, join the [FF] Olympic Lifting classes to lead up to the event, and save the date!
Not interested in lifting but want to be involved? We need volunteers! Contact coach James if you’re interested in helping out.

Olympic Lifting 1RM Testing This Sunday!
Tumblr media
Come join coach James this Sunday for the [FF] Olympic Lifting class where we'll be testing your 1RM Snatch & Clean and Jerk!
From coach James:
The goal is to turn up like any other Sunday but the session will focused on...
Warming up together
Discussing the 3 attempts that we would like to make for the Snatch and Clean & Jerk
The goal is 3 technically sound lifts, putting all your trainng into practice - not necesarily a lifetime PR
Lifting EMOM style - one person at a time
This will LOOSELY replicate competition conditions, but with MUCH less pressure (but a bit more than a normal class)
The goal is to be inclusive and build the barbell community within Raincity!
The session is open to ALL [FF] Athletes who want to come lift together and tackle 3 attempts at each lift :)
Any questions don't hesitate to reach out!!

Farewell Adam & Andrea Greene: June 9th
Tumblr media
If you're new you may not know Andrea as she hasn't been in since COVID - but if you're an OG you'll definitely remember her as a bubbly little bundle of joy!
If you come in on any day with deadlifts or heavy cleans, then you've at least seen Adam's name on top of the leaderboard if not dramatically watched him hit the floor post wod... and by wod we mean barbell complex with more than 3 reps.
Unfortunately they've decided they've had enough of Vancouver housing prices and are moving to the island. After being members of our community for over 5 years they will definitely be missed! So come join us for a farewell <3 (details below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Raincity & The 2021 CrossFit Open
Tumblr media
2021 MARCH UPDATE:
Athletes who have or are planning to register via games.crossfit.com please make sure to fill out this quick survery: https://forms.gle/xUU2Yn54Lw865sCKA
Also make sure you’re in Slack & join the #athletes-open channel :)
---
Everything you need to know about Raincity Athletics and the 2021 CrossFit Games Open...
What is the CrossFit Open?
The ‘Open’ is the first stage of qualifying for the CrossFit Games. It is an online ‘open’ qualifier where workouts are posted Thursday nights @ 5PM and must be completed before 5PM the following Monday. (read more: https://open.crossfit.com/)
When is it?
Workouts are released Thursdays March 11th / 18th / 25th
Should I register for it?
The short answer... no.
The long answer; if you REALLY want to register and submit scores online (outside of Raincity’s leaderboard on SugarWOD) make sure you read this post in full before doing so...
Will Raincity be doing the workouts?
We will post the weekly open workouts to SugarWOD on Friday’s for athletes to do (if they choose)
Assuming we are still operating as #RaincityGlobo athletes will be able to complete the workout anytime they like during [FF] Individual Access OR [FF] Open Gym!
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions we will NOT be doing any form of ‘Friday Night Lights’ events like we have in previous years :(
But I really really really really want to register online and submit my scores!...
We still encourage you NOT to register online, instead just peruse the leaderboard and see where you would have fallen each week!
If that’s not enough for you make sure to read below & contact [email protected] to notify us that you’ll be registering online and planning to do the workouts!
REQUIRED:
Find a buddy who will be doing the workouts with you - preferably someone already in your covid bubble
Both of you MUST complete the online judges course
You MUST FILM ALL of your workouts following strict games.crossfit.com standards (make sure you know them!)
You will likely NOT be able to complete the workout during [FF] Individual Access blocks (:50) - you MAY be able to fit it into [FF] Open Gym blocks on Fridays (1:20)
RECOMMENDED:
We will be making coaches available for discounted small group bookings to take athletes through CrossFit Open workouts outside of gym access times!
1:20 Blocks with a coach to take you through a warmup, workout tips and prep, and assist with filming:
$120 for up to 4 athletes ($30 /person)
Buy all 3 weeks for $300 ($25 / person / week)
Coaches will NOT be judging for you - everyone taking part must complete the judges course so your group can run in 2 heats & judge each other. Coach will assist with filming etc. Number of athletes may vary based on COVID restrictions at the time.
Coaches & Availability
Coaches (may vary):
James, Rebecca, Thor
Availability (may vary):
Saturdays @ 12:30pm & 2:00PM
Fridays @ 2:00pm
Sundays after 2:00PM
Space and times are limited! Email [email protected] for more info & to request your coach & timeslot now!
