About The Phantom of The Opera Fandom

as you all probably noticed, i’m turning my focus into my own projects...and that is happening for several reasons: First, i need to focus on things that are bringing me joy and support, and that is what the monster fandom did to me from the start. They are most of my commissioners and most of the people supporting me on patreon and ko-fi, and rebloging my stuff on tumblr and twitter. nobody ever judged me for that.

The phantom fandom is...wel...a mess. They make you believe they support you all along and ask for you to create a print shop, and then....crickets...i made exactly...3 dollars on it, then you create a patreon just for then....and crickets. and then you think “ok, people are strugling with money, thats fine with me, i will just create free stuff to bring joy to them as a hobby”. Then i do it and they dare to come to my posts to say “erik is creep, you can’t like him, all erik stans are gross” and “you are a bully, stop harassing Raoul, we are a vulnerable community!”(??).  So basically (in general, cause i have several phandom friends).....they dont want to pay me to draw the stuff they want....and they can’t leave my free content alone either.

ALSO. This fandom is in a spectrum that i dont like. There is the “purity” side, where they all think every erik/christine shippers are nasty and deserve to die, and all characters that are not pure, are trash, and they all love cinammon roll Raoul. and in the other end of the spectrum there is.........Rape glorification fics, with Erik being a disgusting drooling rapist. 

So yeah, basically, i will always love Phantom of The Opera, specially Erik and Christine, it’s part of me, and may sometimes even draw something about it. But honestly, save for few people i know more closely, i don’t want anything to do with this fandom anymore.

So basically, i will keep drawing my monsters and my original characters and stories and producing content for my dear patrons as usual. But Phantom of The Fanfic is officially on a hiatus, cause it’s just not worth it....But i hope you keep following me for my art!

Hey! Could you tell more about why you like that Raoul is a carnivore and Erik and Christine prey animals (its about that post where Erik is a deer, Christine a bunny and Raoul a tiger) I would love to heard your opinion!

For those of you who are curious it is this post.

There are several of us E/C fans, who also admit that Erik has plenty of his own flaws, who tire of the Raoul is a cinnamon roll narrative. He too is very manipulative, demanding and controlling of Christine. However because it’s disguised as caring for her well-being it is often over looked. It’s way more obvious in the novel, which I could go into more detail later if you want. But I’ll touch on the musical for now:

He busts into her dressing room and is like we’re going to dinner with no regard to any plans she might have after the show all because he what knew her and pulled her scarf out of the water when they were 14? He tries to gaslight her into believing there is no Phantom of the Opera meaning he’s not taking what she’s telling him seriously. He then goes from telling Christine she doesn’t have to perform in Don Juan Triumphant to  let’s use the woman I love as bait and if you really cared, Christine you’d do this for me. 

How does this apply to that animal metaphor: Erik as a deer and Christine as a bunny: they are existing in the forest, doing their own thing. It is Raoul, the tiger, who comes in as predator. This is what happens in the plot. Christine and The Phantom are doing their own thing in the Opera House; it’s only when Raoul comes in does the Phantom feel threatened. The Phantom does totally overreact and goes about everything in the wrong way in response.

However you just never see many R/C fans having to quantify why they love Raoul and their ship like E/C does. They can just say Raoul is a cinnamon roll and everyone is like yes he is. Of course they also claim to feel like they are threatened and everyone picks on them. This is why I decided to stay out of ship wars. I was even hesitant to answer this because it was just rehash of old stuff but then I also realize I do have newer followers who weren’t around for my old hot takes.

Plus I have anon off right so if anyone really wants to come at me they will really have to come at me. Plus I actually have legit R/C stan friends now and we all know where the other stands and we just respect it and go on with our days.

xbhdgsdhdu I love claude bc he is a trash heap but I would absolutely not die for that awful trash goblin bastard. But I do stan Esmeralda + Christine!!!
