"Are you stupid or what?"

"Hey!" Whirling around on the couch, Rebeka brought her hand down on your arm, scowling up at you. "You're supposed to be tutoring me, not making fun of me."

"It's my job as your older brother to humble you every chance I get." You grinned, pinching the top of her ear between your fingers. Rebeka groaned, shoving your hand away and turning back to the textbooks scattered across the coffee table. You snickered, glancing toward the door when the doorbell rang.

Pushing yourself off the couch, you left the livingroom and headed down the hallway, approaching the security panel mounted beside the door. Pressing a button, it switched to the camera next to the gate out front. You blinked, feeling your mouth dry as you stared at the person waiting by the gate. Carla glanced in the direction of the camera and you almost contemplated pretending not to be home.

"Who is it?" Rebeka called.

"Uhm, a delivery person. I'm gonna go sign the papers." You responded, pulling the door open.

"Delivery? Wha-" You shut the door and made your way down the driveway, approaching the tall black gate. An exaggeration in your opinion but your mother had always been one for the extravagant. You opened the door beside the gate and met her gaze.

Carla still looked the same, perhaps a bit older and with darker hair. But her icy stare, fashion, and demanding presence remained. The blonde stared at you for a moment, pink colored lips parting as she inhaled.

"What brings you back? Was London not up to your standards?" You questioned, head tilting and arms crossing. Carla pressed her lips together, swinging her purse over her shoulder and mimicking your posture by crossing her arms as well. She took slow steps forward, heels clicking on the pavement.

"I came home to see my mother until school begins again. I was in the area so..." She shrugged her shoulders. "I wanted to see how you were doing."

"How'd you get this address?"

"Samuel." She responded, smirking when your brows furrowed. "I told him we were back together and that I wanted to surprise you."

"I always knew you were a stalker." You couldn't help but tease. Carla looked away, too prideful to acknowledge she had sought you out unexpectedly. You stepped closer to the young woman, lifting a hand to toy with the ends of her long hair.

"You can go now that you've seen me." You pointed out softly. Carla inhaled, eyes shutting briefly.

"I wanted to talk about us." She admitted quietly and you hummed, letting her take your hand in hers. Carla gave it a small squeeze, meeting your eyes.

"I care about you, (Y/N). Going to London and being away from you... I know now that we needed to spend some time apart so we can grow stronger together."

Snorting softly, you leaned forward and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "You missed me that much, huh?" You grinned, feeling Carla smack your arm as she huffed and rolled her eyes.

"I can still book a ticket back-"

"No, no, no need for that." You laughed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and resting your forehead against hers. "Do you really think we can make it work this time?"

Carla smiled and nodded, raising her hands to cup your face. "Obviously." She replied, pressing her lips against yours.
