Introduction to Lakha Red Granite
Lakha granite is renowned for its distinct, rich red hue that is truly breathtaking. This granite boasts a textured surface that adds depth and character to its striking appearance. The deep red colour of this granite is enhanced by the tiny black and grey mineral speckles, creating a mesmerizing interplay of colours that is both fascinating and attractive. This colour is widely used in Southeast Asia, particularly in India.
READ | Lakha Red Granite: Everything You Need to Know
Why is it called Lakha Red Granite?
Lakha Red Granite derives its name from its proximity to Lakha Village in Rajasthan, where it is abundant. The village is situated in Fatehgarh tehsil of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan.
It goes by several names, including Lakha red, Lakha granite, Jaisalmer red granite, Lakshmi red granite, Laxmi red granite, and Imperial red granite.
Lakha Red Granite Quarries
This red granite is primarily extracted from the Lakha region in Rajasthan, India. This region is renowned for its high-quality deposits of red granite, making it an ideal location for quarrying this stone. This region has several stone quarries of Lakha Red Granite, each with unique characteristics and beauty.
Lakha Red Granite is a unique type of granite that has gained popularity due to its exceptional beauty. The granite is processed similarly to standard granite, but the granite blocks used in this type are unique and make it challenging to recover high-quality granite. However, the low recovery rate of such premium-quality granite makes it quite valuable and sought-after.
Jalore, Pali, and Kishangarh are the primary processing centres for Lakha Red Granite. These centres are located near the Lakha region, where the granite is sourced. The proximity of these centres to the source of the granite makes it easier to transport the blocks to the processing centres, ensuring that the quality of the granite is preserved.

Willow Creek
Tumblr media
I spent the night in Redgranite on Saturday so I could do some more fishing yesterday. I waited for it to warm up a little before I went to tackle a section of Willow Creek.
It was still just below freezing when I started, but it warmed up to 35°F or so over the course of my wade. It was sunny with blue skies, and a nice day to be out on the river.
I saw significant numbers of trout and had some follows and some light bumps on the lure, but I did not land any fish. If you don’y get skunked once in a while, you’re probably not fishing enough. Right?

Willow Creek
Tumblr media
The regular trout season comes to a close on October 15. The coming rainy and windy weather and my schedule pointed to today being my last chance for some stream fishing this year.
I drove up to Redgranite to fish a section of Willow Creek I haven’t visited in a while. Cloud cover faded in and out over the course of the morning, and it was a great fall day.
I caught a small trout on my second cast, but it was some time before I caught another. In the end, I managed to catch four brown trout and had a pretty good time doing it.
