Best hatchback cars in India you can own under Rs.5 lakh
Most people prefer buying a hatchback as their first car. For them, a hatchback is appealing because it’s often more practical than a traditional sedan, sportier to drive than a crossover and more compact than either, meaning it’s easier to park and drive even in tight spaces. Due to the ever-increasing demand, the hatchback sector has evolved in the Indian market over the last few years. Most manufacturers are coming up with hatchbacks in different categories, right from entry-level to the most premium ones. These hatchbacks are loaded with features and are available at an affordable price.
Here’s a list of best hatchback cars in India you can own under Rs.5 lakh.
1.       Renault KWID
Renault challenged various entry-level hatchbacks in the segment, with the launch of India’s favourite car, the Renault KWID. With a design strategy that symbolises dynamic performance, the KWID exudes robust strength and a taste for adventure. Its SUV-inspired stance offers a high driving position and greater visibility, which makes it ideal for both zipping around in urban traffic and roaring down the open highway.
Tumblr media
The Renault KWID New Feature-Loaded Range comes with a first-in-class touchscreen display, which features a user-friendly MediaNAV (multimedia and navigation) system, a new first-in-class Reverse Parking Camera and a host of other first-in-class features like the Digital Instrument Cluster, Rear Armrest and a Rear 12V power socket. The Renault KWID also offers a boot space of 0.3m3 (300 litre) and a ground clearance of 180 mm, which establishes the KWID as a big small car that is ready for anything. Adding to a long list of features, the KWID also offers a category-first warranty of 4 Years/100000KM, low cost of maintenance and a great resale value.
With different variants like the KWID 0.8L, KWID 1.0L, KWID AMT and KWID CLIMBER that offer the best driving experience, the Renault KWID is considered one of the best hatchback cars in India.
The Renault KWID price range starts at Rs.2.66 lakh.
2.       Maruti Alto K10
The Maruti Alto K10 features the brand’s peppy K-Series engine. In addition to the petrol version, the Alto K10 also has a CNG variant. The Maruti Alto K10 is available with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. It is also one of the cheapest Maruti models currently available and is a joy to drive.
The Alto can deliver a mileage of 24.07 km per litre, has compact dimensions, unbelievably low running costs, and to top it all, a good resale value. The brand lacks in the features department and exteriors, but the positive attributes overshadow these. The low running cost, fuel-efficient engine, Maruti’s widespread sales and service network, and a high resale value easily justify the top spot for K10.
Tumblr media
The Maruti Alto K10 price range starts at Rs.3.5 lakh.
3.       Tata Tiago
The Tata Tiago was launched in April, 2016 and since then, it’s been one of the best-selling hatchbacks in India. It can be considered as the return of Tata Motors. With a lot of segment-first features and a brilliant design, the hatchback has managed to keep itself on top. Boasting adequate space for five passengers, the Tiago has standout features like an integrated, 8-speaker sound system by Harman, chilled glovebox, electric mirrors and multiple drive modes. It is one of the most affordable hatchbacks with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and high fuel efficiency (claimed mileage of 23.84 km per litre). The Tiago is available with either a petrol or diesel engine, along with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox.
Tumblr media
The Tata Tiago price range starts at Rs.3.26 lakh.
These are just a few examples of best hatchbacks cars that are easy on your pocket. If we had to choose one, the Renault KWID is definitely our top pick, as it offers the most value for money. Moreover, exciting range of Renault KWID accessories help you personalise the car basis your requirements.
More and more manufacturers are coming up with hatchbacks that offer more for less. Make sure you select a car that suits your needs and gives you the best experience.

Introduction
When you think of Renault, the first thing that comes to your mind is the Duster and the Kwid but Lodgy? That MPV was launched to take on the Innova but failed however Renault has not given up on the MPV segment and instead went back with a clean sheet of paper with the Triber as a result. This has been its big launch and going by the buzz plus sales, it seems Renault has a hit finally but is it really that good? We answer.
Looks
Clever. That is what you get in the Triber- right from the way it has been designed to the packaging. The Triber is just under 4m but is wider than bigger MPVs like the Ertiga and gives the look of a much bigger car than what it is. Plus the ground clearance of 182mm, gives it an SUV like stance.
The design is pure Renault but it is a nice blend of being MPV and crossover. It has functional roof-rails, cladding and big wheel-arches which look good while the design is MPV to get maximum space yet it does not look boring. The front is really nicely designed with the massive Renault logo plus projectors with DRLs gives it a premium look. Even the 15 inch wheels, gives it a crossover like stance.
Renault Triber is offered in 5 different color options. Check all Renault Triber colors with photos.
Interiors, features and space
We like the interiors even more as here Renault have done a great job. The design and quality is even better plus more modern than a Captur or a Duster. There are no soft touch materials but everything looks premium with no cheap looking materials or nasty plastic. We like the part digital instrument cluster plus the neat steering wheel.
The touch-screen is an 8inch one and the design is simple plus the icons/use-ability is quite nice. Elsewhere you get navigation, all row dedicated ac vents, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, four airbags, rear parking camera, 4 airbags and push button start plus others. Impressive.
That said the rear camera display could have been better and climate control along with steering controls could have been offered. The big USP is the space as the Triber promises proper 3 row comfort and space in under 4m. It works. The second row is the best place as headroom is superb and also shoulder room/legroom. Three can fit in. Even the doors open wide to easily get in and out.
Now the third row is also a surprise. Getting in and out is not a nightmare and once inside, the space is not bad at all. The best and only proper 3 row under 4m now. Practicality is excellent with multiple storage areas. There are two glove-boxes with the lower one being cooled plus the centre has multiple storage areas including for your phone!
With all seats in place the boot is 84 litres while folding them down takes it to 625litres. Plus there are multiple configurations in which you can put various luggage and pack according to your needs.
Driving
The Triber gets only one gearbox and one engine for now. The Triber has a 1.0 petrol with 72 bhp and 96Nm. It is BS4 and has a mileage of 20 kmpl. To drive at city speeds, it is quite impressive with refinement being decent though you hear the familiar 3 cylinder noise rather faintly. But the torque and clever gearing means in the city you can drive around without downshifting much. Thus in the city performance is surprising.
However when you get on the highway and do serious speeds that the engine shows its weak link. You need to do proper planning to overtake and it runs out of breath easily. The 5-speed manual has a light clutch but the shift quality could have been better. In short performance is acceptable but with 7 and luggage on board it will struggle a bit.
The steering is light in the city and decent at high speeds. But I liked the sure footedness and the stability. It feels well sorted and has excellent ride too.
What variant?
Our advice is to leave the RxE and go for either the RxT or RxZ which are top trims in terms of features.
Vs  rivals?
The Triber is Rs 5 to 6.5 lakh while the Go+ is Rs 3.9 lakh to Rs 5.9 lakh. The Ertiga is Rs 7.5 lakh starting. The Triber is on another league when compared to the Datsun as the quality and interiors plus design is much better. It however cannot compare to the Ertiga as it has a bigger engine and more space but is also more expensive.
Check: Renault Triber Priced at Rs 4.95 Lakhs
Verdict
The Triber sits in an unique position and has no rivals. In terms of size, price, features and space, there is no competition. We like the looks, quality and space but Renault should give a bigger engine as the current one is not enough. Sort that out and you get a fantastic car as it delivers MPV experience for hatch money. Well done Renault.

10 Things You Should Know About the Renault Kwid
Renault India knew it had to pull a miracle out of its hat if it were to convince people of their seriousness in making a dent in the entry-level compact car segment. Called the Kwid, they managed to do just that, announcing to the world that the smallest baby in their model portfolio pulled punches above its class. We’ve drawn up a list of 10 things you should know about the Renault Kwid, to show you just how distinctive this car is:
The Renault Kwid looks like no other small-car in the history of the Indian automobile. Butch, SUV-esque styling giving it a larger-than-life presence that other cars, many classes above would kill for.
The car is built on the CMF-A platform that Renault have developed in conjunction with their Japanese partner, Nissan. The Kwid is the first car to benefit from the platform in India and ushers in a new era in car-building for the manufacturer.
Renault have been aggressive on the localization front with the Kwid. This was done with the aim of keeping costs low, translating into the car’s low sticker price that undercuts the competition by a comfortable margin.
The Renault Kwid’s mileage is an astounding 25.17 km/l as per ARAI certification. This makes it the most powerful car in the segment, besting the likes of Maruti’s Alto800 and even the Tata Nano.
Renault will be launching both, a larger, more powerful 1 litre engine as well as an AMT variant for the Kwid in the coming years.
The Renault Kwid’s mileage is not the only thing that’s better than the competition. The car is longer, wider and larger than all other offerings in the segment.
Frugal engineering features high on the 10 things you should know about the Renault Kwid. From using three wheel bolts, to a single wiper, the manufacturer has focussed heavily on cost and weight savings. Even the fasteners are lower in number, while plastic has been used extensively to achieve targets.
The Kwid has delivered a telling blow with its pricing. With an on-road price that’s a good INR 50,000 lower than the comparable competition, it makes for a compelling buy.
The Kwid also has the highest ground clearance in its class, almost putting larger crossovers and even some SUV’s to shame in this department.
The Renault Kwid’s interiors are unparalleled, both in terms of the features offered (7-inch touchscreen infotainment system or the long accessories list) as well as sheer space in the boot & the passenger cabin.
All-in-all, the car is a delight on multiple fronts, making it a compelling-buy for someone contemplating a purchase in the segment. Pop into a Renault dealership near you and test drive the Kwid for yourself.

New Post has been published on http://www.plazmedia.com/2017/renault-kwid-climber-why-should-you-buy/
Renault Kwid Climber: Why should you buy?
The Indian hatchback market has never fallen short of quality cars. But, even among this wide range of cars, very few are able to make the solid impression that Renault Kwid has managed. It is one of the success stories that the Renault has scripted.
The most recent offering, the Renault Kwid Climber, is the outcome of the company’s promise to come up with a new version in every 6 months’ time. This Climber edition of the Kwid is quite eye-catching while on the road. Also, the Climber is priced at around the same mark as the top end trims of the standard Kwid.
Hence, if you are in the market to get yourself a great value for money compact hatchback, and are considering the Renault Kwid Climber, it becomes indispensable to know who the car is targeted at and why you should consider it.
The butch exterior
One of the biggest aspect that contributes heavily towards the success of the Renault Kwid is the muscular exteriors. The Kwid easily overshadows the likes of Alto and Eon just because it offers an SUV-ish body.
The new Renault Kwid Climber gets the same aesthetics, albeit some modifications. These modifications make the car look more muscular, powerful and funky on the outside. The dual tone-coloured Climber comes with body colour front bumper and black plastic cladded fog lamps. The sides are surrounded by extra black coloured cladding. The front lip spoiler gets additional cladding wrapped in dual tone silver and orange colour. There is a “CLIMBER” moniker on both the sides and orange coloured ORVMs. The Kwid climber gets alloy wheels which was not found on the standard Kwid.
The refreshed interiors
Though small, the Renault Kwid Climber is undoubtedly spacious on the inside, just like the standard Kwid. It continues to get the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the semi-digital dashboard.
Apart from this, the moment you enter inside the Climber, you are sure to feel the energetic vibes all around. There entire interiors get a dual tone skin. And by dual tone, I mean orange pipings and borders at the right places. The car gets black seats with orange borders and a “CLIMBER” insignis over it. The gear knob is added with orange colour tone.
The interiors all around has been given a flashy and attractive appeal, which is sure to attract the young individuals. Overall, the interiors are fresh and I am sure the ones driving will definitely get the sporty feeling deep inside.
The engine, transmission and economy
The all new Renault Kwid Climber does not get any mechanical changes. It gets the same engine that powered the standard Kwid. It gets the same 1.0-litre three cylinder, which could make a maximum power of 67 bhp at 5,500 revs per minute and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 revs per minute. This power is mated to the same 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The power is sent down to the front wheels as a sign of soberness.
The Renault Kwid Climber is also lightweight, just like its standard version, which means that the low power output will not be a major drawback as it will have a decent power-to-weight ratio.
The new Climber is extremely pocket friendly and economical. The manual trim gets an impressive mileage of around 23.01 kms per litre while the AMT trim gets a better 24 kms per litre.
Conclusion
The Renault Kwid Climber is another pocket gem for the people who like a spiced up car. The Climber does succeed in injecting the funkiness and the lively feel into the people who buy it.
That said, the new Kwid Climber is more like a physical upgradation rather than mechanical. But these tweaked changes is, in itself capable of drawing the attention of the young individuals who focus on looks more than anything else.
However, the Renault Kwid Climber is more expensive than the standard Kwid. The new Climber is only available in two variants – MT and AMT. The MT version is priced at Rs. 4.3 lakhs while the AMT is priced at Rs. 4.6 lakhs.
