Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo teamed up with the Missouri Abortion Fund to give out free emergency birth control pills and condoms to concertgoers at her St. Louis show. Rodrigo visited St. Louis on Tuesday evening as part of her GUTS world tour. X user @cowboylikekin posted a viral photo of the condoms and Julie contraceptive pills that were distributed at the concert. The image has been liked more than 30,000 times. Volunteers with the Missouri Abortion Fund handed out the pills, condoms and stickers at Tuesday’s concert. The nonprofit aims to provide assistance to Missouri residents who cannot afford the cost of abortion care.

Missouri has been taken over by far right MAGA extremists. Fortunately there is a ballot measure being proposed to restore reproductive freedom in the state.

Abortion rights advocates with Missourians for Constitutional Freedom are pushing for a ballot measure through Missouri’s initiative petition process, looking to amend Missouri’s constitution with a law that would make abortion legal until viability. To place the issue on this November’s ballot, the campaign must collect around 180,000 signatures in support of the petition and turn the signatures in to the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office by May 5.

17% of Voters Blame Biden for the End of Roe

The article is behind a paywall but here is the key point.

Nearly one in five voters in battleground states says that President Biden is responsible for ending the constitutional right to abortion, a new poll found, despite the fact that he supports abortion rights and that his opponent Donald J. Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices who made it possible to overturn Roe v. Wade. Trump supporters and voters with less education were most likely to attribute responsibility for abortion bans to Mr. Biden, but the misperception existed across demographic groups. Twelve percent of Democrats hold Mr. Biden responsible, according to New York Times/Siena College polls in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin and a Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena poll in Pennsylvania.

Low information voters and those poorly educated in civics are a thing. But we need to quit wringing our hands and patiently and diplomatically explain things to people who favor reproductive freedom but are not clear about who is responsible for the ending of federal abortion rights in 2022.

If you are successful with one person, chances are good that the information will then be spread to others by that person.

Presidents nominate Supreme Court justices and senators confirm them. Sending Republicans to the White House and to the US Senate greatly increases the possibility that more rights will be lost to bad Supreme Court decisions.

The winner of the next presidential election could appoint two SCOTUS justices. We don't need Trumpian clones of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito who will sit on the Court for decades.

This election requires all of us to be more proactive – even if that means correcting inaccurate information when we hear it.
