Giant AO3 Meme!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? I just changed it! It’s from my tumblr name and comes from a fictional flower from an original world that I have co-shares in. Basically it means sun-rose.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback (bookmarks, subscriptions, hits, kudos)?
Most Bookmarks: If I Could Go Back (for co-authored fic) with 31 and Five Times Out Of Many David Rossi Realised He Was Happily Doomed with 16
Most Subscriptions: The Lady & The King with 3 (it’s pretty finished I have to say but I’m flattered! I think this is because I do not have the multi-chapter works skill in the slightest)
Most Hits: Again If I Could Go Back with 5012 for co-authored work and Five Times Out Of Many with 3301
Most Kudos: Undertow with 171 for co-authoring and Five Times Out Of Many with 127 (You can see a theme with the top two things here!)
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it? I think I honestly just picked it at random (it’s a woman riding a horse over a jump) and also because I like horses and riding.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters? I love all my commenting people! (I don’t know that I have regulars but I love them)
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again? I have A TONNE. Like way way way more than one that I also download to my phone to reread over and over again. Two examples: I reread Edge of A Golden World by ReganX and So They Like You (Do You Like You?) by @violent-darts constantly.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
Subscribed To: 23
Bookmarked: 348
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most? I was going to say modern au and it honestly really is. The other one is AU with kids or AU dystopia. I pretty much write all the AUs though because AUs are my thing.
  8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Subscribed: 26
Bookmarked: 554
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!) So I have one incredibly elaborate Tudors AU that I am terrified of doing because it would be so so so much research and also I think people would yell at me (it’s a ‘what if Mary, the court and the country where on Anne’s side but without demonising KOA’ story and I cannot figure out how it would work). I also have a really really obscure ID fic in which one of the fandoms is just me basically.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. I’d love to be able to write longer stories but meh, I think I just work better in short pieces.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often? It’s a pretty good mix of both really.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)? 120
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program? I actually don’t really have any - I tend to just jot down little pieces of ideas and when I write I write the complete pieces so I have some complete pieces saved but they are on AO3 as well so.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head? I will jot them down in the notes app on my iPhone (or sometimes in the gdocs app) or even sometimes in a physical notebook or more often these days on my tumblr.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story? Yes it was super great! I have done it several times and I love the way when it works it gloriously works and you can do different parts of the story and make flailing noises about it.
16. How did you discover AO3? I think through friends or possibly through an LJ community but it was probably through friends.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3? No *g* (I mean okay maybe somewhat in CM a tiny bit but not)
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers? Nope
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author? Honestly I think the main thing is to take what advice is useful to you and it’s okay if an advice doesn’t work for you personally - everyone has different writing methods and it’s not a reflection on you - you can totally tailor things individually.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go? I am the second so so so much. I might do a lot of jotting down snippets/ideas and research but sitting down to write is absolutely distilling all of that but I don’t know where those ideas are going to go. Okay sometimes I might write a very rough ‘this snippet goes here’ thing but none of the details are known. I have also been known to start from the end of a story so.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do? I got one really really weird comment on the pit of voles that was so obviously just from someone leaving the same comment to lots of people I was only a little bit upset at myself. I just ignored it.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..) I am SO BAD AT DIALOGUE. SO BAD. I can write smut but I can’t write smut these days because I trigger myself to hell.
24. What story(s) are you working on now? I’m not actually really working on anything. I finished my Yuletide fic fairly recently and these days I don’t actually write much unless I have a flash of inspiration or it’s for someone else/a ficathon.I’ve been making far more graphics. But I do think about AUs I have - so I’ve been thinking a lot about Anne Time Travels (how Henry reacted to her disappearance wrangling - I don’t know why I’m so stuck on this but I am. I mean I know that there is no public explanation given which gives rise to a tonne of speculation but really what could they say ‘she disappeared from a room with no windows and only one door that went into a room full of people who were there to spy on her’ so basically...no one says anything. There are whispers though. I just don’t know how Henry personally reacts.
(I was kind of working on my Tudors OT3 things but I’ve stopped)
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)? I just have lots and lots of ideas and jot them down really but I don’t plan them out.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself? Nope
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started? Yeah
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written? Such A Time As This
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written? It’s not available online anymore but there’s a terrible The Bill fanfic I wrote as a very young teenager which was an attempt to be Deep And Abstract and has So Much Angst. It’s hilariously funny.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years? It’s not really relevant to me I try not to think about these things for Reasons.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing? Pondering All The AUs
32. What is the hardest thing about writing? Actually writing
33. Why do you write? I sort of...I need to. It’s how my brain works.  Bleugh.
