Top 20 Richest People In The World - The Week of July 10-17, 2019
Tumblr media
Here is  list of the Top 20 Richest People in The World for the Week of July 10-17, 2019 - Graphic: BillionaireWorldNews.org via Bloomberg Billionaire Index     Richest Billionaires in the World By Mark Taylor BillionaireWorldNews.org Richest Man in the World, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, ($124 billion) continues to lead the pack in the richest in the world race. A recent change, but probably just a fleeting moment, is the current #2 position. #2 has been held by Microsoft's Bill Gates ($107 billion) since Jeff Bezos overtook him for the #1 position over a year ago, however that has now been filled by Frances, Bernard Arnault, ($108 billion) pushing Bill Gates into the #3 position. Longtime position #4 holder, Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffet ($81.9 billion) is still sitting steady in the 4th position that will probably last, unless #5, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg ($78.7), adds $3 billion to his fortune. Still, there is always the possibility that Warren Buffett will donate enough, as he seems to keep doing these days, to lower his net worth enough to let Zuckerberg pass him. Some people say it is hard to believe that billionaire Bezos is still in the top position even after his divorce has been finalized a couple weeks ago to his ex MacKenzie. (his ex-wife is currently on the list at #22 with $39.9 billion and is the 4th richest woman in the world) It seems as though his ex-wife is a nice person and was not greedy when it came to their fortune. She has always said she plans on giving away her fortune before she dies and even signed The Giving Pledge. She issued this statement through Twitter right after their divorce. "“Grateful to have finished the process of dissolving my marriage with Jeff with support from each other and everyone who reached out to us in kindness, and looking forward to the next phase as co-parents and friends,” she tweeted. She continued, “Happy to be giving him all of my interests in the Washington Post and Blue Origin, and 75% of our Amazon stock plus voting control of my shares to support his continues contributions with the teams of these incredible companies.” “Excited about my own plans,” she added. “Grateful for the past as I look forward to what comes next.” In the state of Washington where they resided, all resources are considered jointly owned in a marriage, so MacKenzie Bezos was eligible to get as much as $69 billion to make it a 50/50 split. The actual number she got was $37 billion according to reports. Of the $137.2 billion estimated net worth of Jeff Bezos at the time of the divorce, $37 billion is only 26.9% of that amount. A far cry from a 50/50 split. Obviously other things matter more to her than money. Thanks MacKenzie, we are so glad to see that attitude from a billionaire!
