if you take out all the sci fi junk, all you have is a movie about a white guy showing up at a bunch of natives’ door and proceeding to be better than them at their own culture

plus it hypersexualizes its native female lead, a trope that causes massive trouble for real-world native american women

all the space stuff was cool, but at its core, it’s just another case of a white writer who wanted to imagine being a messiah in a different culture and getting with their princess, it’s been done to death and it’s racist as fuck
