I think Saladin would be really proud of Riven's progress and ultimately have seen his potential a lot more than other people around him!

Similar to Flora, Saladin would also just appreciate the fact that the specialists clearly make Helia happy, even if they are annoying kids sometimes

Actually obsessed with the idea of Riven and Helia being roommates !! I've already shared this headcanon but I like the idea of both of them having issues sleeping but for different reasons. And it's that trope of they can never get to sleep but when they start to room together they can sleep and it's like :o

Also obsessed with the idea that Helia could join literally any team at the school and he immediately chooses the most problematic and annoying team there. Helia: yeah that one please :) Saladin: .....

AND THEN he also becomes besties with them. like saladin is gonna have to deal with these guys forever now... how could his own grandson do this to him

adjghlajdgh but saladin is actually super supportive of riven!! like he literally just let him off the hook after getting with the witches who destroyed the entire school 😭 i mean he redeemed himself yes, but also saladin my guy there's gotta be rules about that akjdghajldgh

the only time the specialists ever really get into trouble is when they start physically fighting each other which in my mind means saladin basically went "boys being boys <3" and left it at that for two whole years before he actually thought hm. maybe that's not okay.

literally i think about saladin's reaction to helia wanting to join That team every day... some prince and his bodyguard who prince and the paupered the whole school... some guy with trauma who almost helped the evil witches and then got thrown into witch jail... some nerd who's getting ignored by everyone..... all of them constantly arguing and ruining school events because they can't stop fighting.... and his grandson who ran off to art school and hates guys like that befriends them and wants to join their team.... and then the angry guy unintentionally sabotages a mission leading to a universe no magic panic and basically gets him (purposely) expelled... and helia's just okay with that. like WHAT went through saladin's head i need to know

on a somewhat serious note, i think the specialists would feel a lot of pressure to make sure helia stays alive so saladin doesn't kill them himself. like he definitely wouldn't be mad at them but i think their overall fear of people would make them think he would get really mad at them. on a goofy note, that means they never let him do stupid dangerous things :(
