The Board majority was Bea Gonzalez, Ruben Perez and Aurora Wilson. What was the majority trying to hide? The fact that when Roadrunner Motors was canceled by President Garcia's press release (October 27, 2021) without any West Valley stakeholders' knowledge, the majority of the Board instructed Garcia to enter a land purchase agreement in downtown Coachella for a campus that was unvetted and unknown by the public. No feasibility study was EVER done for the downtown Coachella site while former President Garcia lied to the press/public that the West Valley Campus in Palm Springs never had a feasibility study, when it had been done and conveniently located on COD's website. She had to admit a few days later it had been done, but she wanted a new one. Hmmm. The exact day that Roadrunner Motors was re-established at the Cathedral City Auto Center (at the very same site it had been planned) was the same day that the land purchase agreement was canceled in downtown Coachella (see pictures). They were also trying to hide that on former President Garcia's first day (August 20, 2021) as president, an email was sent to the leader of the Palm Springs Development Project Team removing them from the project planning and told not to talk to anyone about the project or the decision. Shady politics at its best, pure corruption at its worst. The voters removed Aurora Wilson from her role in November 2022 and now voters have an opportunity to remove Bea Gonzalez this November 2024 as she continues to vote against the West Valley Campus in Palm Springs as recently as last month! The West Valley Campus in Palm Springs would NOT be anything that it is being built had there not been public outrage and my husband, Dr. Joel Kinnamon, not been elected in November 2022 thereby removing Aurora Wilson from the Board. Thanks to the voters for getting this right! Dr. Joel Kinnamon in his third month of office was able to get a Board resolution passed in February 2023 to make sure that the West Valley Campus would move forward as originally planned (minus the learning hotel) and $405 million would be available to build it. This lawsuit settlement with the City of Palm Springs further cements that Board resolution with the City to finally get this campus built! It's been one hell of a battle, and its not done yet, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Voters - get Bea Gonzalez off the COD Board and return former COD Trustee Mary Jane Sanchez back to the Board - Mary Jane ALWAYS votes in the interest of students and what's best for the college. Bea Gonzalez continues to promise city councilmembers throughout the Coachella Valley that she will illegally use educational bond dollars to revitalize not only downtown Coachella where her political endorsers own land, but any other downtown at her beckoning. As the Desert Sun editorial board stated, "That's not a community college job."There's always a paper trail that they don't want the public to see! $200,000 in attorney fees and two years later, the public will finally get to see their shady backroom deals! @followers@highlight
