For those who don't know; Gamora's former owner admitted to shaving her lower canine teeth down. The pulp of the teeth are showing which can lead to infection in the jaw; so we need to raise the money to help her as soon as possible. The Culpeo Fox sometimes known as the Zorro Culpeo or Andean Fox and it is a South American Fox species. It is the second largest native Canid on the continent, after the Maned Wolf. In appearance, it bears many similarities to the widely recognized Red Fox. The Blanford's Fox is a Small Fox found in certain regions of the Middle East and Central Asia it possesses hairless footpads and have cat-like, curved, sharp claws described by some authors as semiretractile. If you listen closely this girl yells at us from across the canal “OMG ITS A DOX!!!...” my facial expression is usually a cross between 😑😑😑 & 🙄🙄🙄. Contrary to popular believe and lies spread on the internet. Dogs and foxes, while both are canids, CANNOT interbreed. They don’t even have the same amount of chromosomes. This morning I woke up to a message from a friend of mine where there was a silver fox advertised for sale. Well, it’s not legal to sell foxes in the US if you’re not a USDA registered breeder. I explained it all to the person who made the post; she was understanding of the law. So I Went to pick up this beautiful gal named Nalla from a lovely woman who took her in temporarily from a hoarder. I have already placed Nalla with a close friend who has experience with other canids. She will be going to her fur-ever home this weekend! If this lady or myself hadn’t intervened then this girl may have been euthanized. Nalla is primarily a silver fox but she definitely shows some copper/cinnamon markings! She will be spayed and vaccinated by her new owners at L&D Farms in Tennessee! Donations help keep us running and able to make rescue missions like this last minute. I listed her as urgent need and within the hour had her placed. We take in and transport rehomed animals to their new homes. To make a donation there are many ways to do so! Gamora is always happy to see me especially in the morning! As you see if you swipe left Gamora’s lower canine teeth we originally thought were broken; they were actually shaved down by the former owner (screenshots of them admitting it are attached). It wasn’t done right because it was likely done at home with a dremel or wire cutters; so she needs to have them and a few of her smaller teeth pulled. For those who don’t know: Sometimes people will clip or shave an animal’s teeth down in order to make them more docile and easier to handle. These people tried to claim the vet did it but I called that vets office and have them on voice recording stating that they would NEVER do that procedure. They are sending us a letter stating such too. Clipping or shaving an animal’s teeth is NEVER acceptable people do it to kinkajous and slow loris as well. In my opinion, this BARBARIC practice is up there with declawing an animal! It’s going to cost us anywhere from $300-1500 (plus cost of pain meds and antibiotics) to do the oral surgery and I’m hoping that we can raise the funds and get it done ASAP.
