I am getting some incredible comments on the most recent chapter of RoCS. People talking about how fucked up (complimentary) everything is. I received a beautifully crafted essay from someone on just how fucked up everything is. I'm putting the next thing behind a cut for anyone who has not read, but might.

From the beginning, I've received comments on how soft Voldemort is, wondering if we're ever going to see him be evil. Except, he always has been. The lying, the manipulating, the gaslighting—his motivations are complicated, and his affection for Harry and desire to care for him are genuine, but he's a Bad Person who habitually and unrepentantly does Bad Things.

And I am so beyond delighted to see people getting increasingly unsettled by it. We have a lot of story left* and Harry is nowhere near the end of his personal arc, but right now? It's a disaster area of a relationship and I have a particular love for everyone going the extra mile to call it out in the comment section.

All comments are cherished, but the ones having a go at Voldemort and his bullshit? Those are a pure shot of serotonin. I am going to reply to everyone, but please know up front that I'm thrilled.

*Frankly, the chapter count estimate is a bit of a lost cause. The reason is twofold. One is that I realized I couldn't skim over a few things with a "that happened" like I thought I could. The other is that I prioritized a frequent and fairly steady release cadence. My other choice was to do much longer chapters, but that would have meant more time between them. And I decided that shorter gaps between chapters was the better call.
