I know the reason that the Ashen Wolves don’t have any skill requirements to recruit them is because you paid for them, obviously, and literally, but in-universe it’s really funny that like...the first monastery exploration day that you can get them is 5/11, and Byleth is assigned as professor to their chosen house on 4/23.
Byleth has been there for not even three weeks and then they come into class one morning to say “hey everyone, I met some people living in the catacombs beneath the monastery and I’ve invited them to sit in on my lectures whenever they like.”
How do you even respond to that.

Oh my god I have so many characters ending up alone. I thought I set it up so that like, Manuela and Seteth would end up together, but they’re both alone. Fantastic. Good work, me. I had so many plans for what I was gonna do with S-supports this run and then gave up on it after how long it took me to play the game, so I just let the chips fall where they may and they’re landing hilariously.

Dimitri has gotten up to 71% crit on some of these enemies, and I think I remember an ~80 but I’m not sure. I love him.

Welcome back to Blue Lions, Hard Mode: Dimitri had 57% crit on an enemy earlier, but he whiffs it where it really counts since the Death Knight has already killed Byleth once and I wanted some help.

Was just about to drop a compliment to Hapi for how much ass she’s kicked this run and pulling 30% crit average to knock out one level of Edelgard’s barrier, but then Edie came back with a crit and murdered Hapi so. Hapi’s still been doing incredible. But we gotta redo this bit.

Finally, the elusive A-support!

One of my favorite trends in Hapi’s supports is when she’s being her usual dour, pessimistic self, and then someone who’s either optimistic or determined or both stumbles into her path and is so optimistic and/or determined that even Hapi starts to buy into it and she’s always kind of like “aw dammit, you’ve got me hoping again, look what you’ve done.” It’s always cute and I never tire of it.

Blue Lions Hard Mode update: with two months left in the war, I was assessing my main team and said “hm, I still after all this time haven’t found a workable niche for Sylvain, Great Knight really sucks ass.... what if... yeah, he’s got an E in Flying but with some quick work on that, maybe I can turn him into a Wyvern Rider.”
Two months left in the war, Byleth comes to Sylvain like “hey you know how you’ve been training to be cavalry for all your time here at the academy? Yeah, get your ass on a wyvern now.”
He passed the certification exam on the first shot with like, 43% chance to pass, and it’s actually really been working for him so far. He’s also now surpassed Dimitri as my highest-leveled unit, because he was keeping pace with everyone else and then I shunted him into a new class and have been pushing that to get him more exp.
Fort Merceus is up next, but actually what’s probably really up next is me going back to Shadows of Valentia.

Me, earlier tonight: “I’m craving some Fire Emblem gameplay but I don’t feel like working on my main Blue Lions Hard Mode file now while I’m at my brother’s house. Maybe I’ll just start Cindered Shadows on Hard-Casual for the gameplay.”
Me now, on Turn 18 of the arena battle with the neverending reinforcements, with only Claude (who is already level 28 after clearing half this map himself) and Hapi left standing, and the Death Knight bearing down on them after killing some of the enemies for us: “This was a mistake.”

I couldn’t figure out how to deal with the Cindered Shadows map when Aelfric is doing the Rite, because the mages with Bolting turn it into a slaughter, and then I finally remembered that Ashe’s battalion grants counterattack at any distance, so I used that on Byleth, had him use a pure water for the Res boost, and then I threw him straight out into the line of fire, so that once one of them hit him, Vantage would kick in and he could massacre the rest before they could kill him. It was kind of horrifying to watch, tbh.
The main problem now is dealing with....literally everything else, but especially the assassins.

“How about my Blue Lions Hard Mode file, since Cindered Shadows fucking sucks?” I asked myself, and four turns in, Arundel kills Judith with a 9% crit.

My favorite part of Cindered Shadows is when Balthus gets carried away by a giant bird and then punches it to death in the far corner of the battlefield while everyone else is fighting for their lives against bandits.

I haven’t played Three Houses since September so I’m trying very hard to remember what class/skill builds I was going with for everyone. I know I was building Dimitri into a crime against god, I remember that much. He can run as fast as a horse and has 1/3 chance to crit every attack with the crit ring that I gave him.

The reason that I started Hard mode with the Blue Lions, despite the last fight at Enbarr being a nightmare for me, was solely because I’d get Dimitri and he was an absolute fucking tank my first playthrough. Then with some specific finessing this run, knowing how much I’d be relying on him, I’ve just been committing crimes. I put him through a bunch of classes in academy phase so that he has Vantage and Desperation, and then I got Aegis just for the chance of making him be tankier. He has Lance Crit +10 from S rank in Lances and then he’s holding a crit ring so he has 30% chance to crit on any given attack. I got him A+ in Riding for +1 movement just so he can better chase down anyone I need him to go after. It’s been such great fun.
Hunting By Daybreak was super funny because I just planted him and Byleth back-to-back in a forest so she could heal him and use magic for better accuracy on enemies approaching through the forest, while he just dodged and destroyed everyone who came at them.
