i’ve got my list of the nylander kids but what are they like!!! i don’t blame mom nylander bc i too would have 6 kids with willy

Roman — thé protecter. He loves his siblings so much! He’s so mature.

Oliver — bit of a trouble maker and loves to pull pranks on his big brother

Lukas — very smart, loves to read and he gets Roman to help him with his homework though just so he can spend time with his brother

Kasper — the sporty one!! This kid is always running around mad. He’s closest to Oliver because they’re both so hyper.

Leo — So quiet. He’s the reason they had a sixth baby. He was so easy!!

Atlas — their princess. she’s very sassy and she’s daddy’s girl through and through.

What are the Nylander up to today? with those 6 children they must have busy days

Mama Nylander is currently wrangling up her Hockey team to watch daddy play.

They make a big deal out of the games she makes hockey themed snacks, they wear their jerseys it’s a whole thing makes Willy so happy his family gets really into hockey.

Little Atlas is just a couple months old so she isn’t as into it as her brothers but mama has her in a leaf’s onesie.

Thinking about Roman having a SUPER hyper day in the summer and Willy and Mom just trynna keep up. And Roman running around bit pausing every once in awhile to give cuddles and kisses to Mom and Dad 🥹🥹

He’s a ball of energy and mom just doesn’t have the energy, she’s six month pregnant with a toddler.

So Uncle Alex took over the games while mom and Willy sat watching them from the decking.

Mid game of tag Roman stops, looks around and runs up to his parents. He kisses his moms baby bump, hugs both of his parents then takes off again.

“He’s a nightmare but he’s cute sometimes”

Does Roman ever find out about his namesake? Because I’m my mind he’s a bit older and it’s this very angsty and dramatic fight because how’s he supposed to live up to that yk?

He does and it’s his uncle Alex who tells him in a passing joke to which he’s like what??

When Roman finds out he’s so annoyed and says things to Willy like why would you let her do that, how could you let this happen, you’re the other guy

And he’s annoyed at mom because why would you do that? It’s weird I feel like I’m supposed to replace a dead guy!

They eventually manage to sit him down and talked to him about the meaning behind his and his siblings names

That Roman meant a lot to his mom and he got his name but also Alexander comes from his uncle and Jac is his auntie

How Oliver has Rasmus’ name as a middle name because he was a massive part of their lives

How Kasper got the middle name Marlie because of the Hockey team his dad played for first in Toronto

How Atlas was named atlas because mom and dad had seen the world together but there was no place better than with their babies.

That they all carried weight in their names but it wasn’t to live up to, it was to strengthen them and guide them.

“We wouldn’t ever give you the name of someone we didn’t think would guide you right in life. Roman always guided me right, he led me straight to your dad”

i love roman’s au bc like that child is mom + willy, but also i feel like there’s probably similarities between the kid and moms roman. (listen they have the same name i’m trying to word this so people will understand) but i can just see mom watching roman one day and thinking “he acts just like roman would” or something and willy is saying stuff like “i didn’t get to know your roman, but i’m glad i know ours”

He has a lot of mannerisms that Roman had that mom notices and Willy never knows because he didn’t know him very well but he loves the look in moms eyes when the baby does something like Roman would.

Now in reality baby Roman learned these from mom as she learned them from Roman but Willy is never going to tell her that. He lets her live out this fantasy as long as she’s happy.

“You’ve got this babe, you’re doing so good” Willy mumbled into your hair.

“Will it hurts too much” you cried, your hand shaking in his while the nurse shouted again for you to push.

He shakes his head “I know baby, I know but if anyone’s gonna do it it’s you. You’re so strong and he’s almost here”

You look up at him, his eyes wide and full of worry in your current state you nod and mumble “He’s almost here”

Then it happened. He cries out, you cry and Willy’s now crying.

“He’s here, mama! You’ve got a son!” The nurse shouts, placing the babyboy on your chest.

Your body wracks with sobs, holding him close

“You did it baby, he’s here” will mumbles, kissing you.

“We have a son”

“We have a son” he confirms, thumb brushing over the boys face.

A little while after, the noise had died down and the nurses had left you sent William out to the waiting room to tell your families the news.

Everyone’s heads turned to him when he entered the waiting room, the only people still left this early in the morning. His brother had clearly flown in after his game at Edmonton as he still had his Penguin’s hoodie on and a suitcase by his chair.

“It’s a boy!” He announced, everyone getting up to hug and congratulate him.

“He’s healthy and mom’s healthy. They said she should get out tomorrow if all goes well” he explains, his mom holding him with tears in her eyes.

“When can we see them?” She asks and Will clears his throat.

“Um actually y/n has asked if Lauren and James can come see her first” the group separated to look at the couple sitting down still, looking rather sheepish

“Us?”

“Please” they nod and follow him through the corridor into the room with the door labeled as ‘baby nylander’

“Hi sweetheart” Lauren coo’s immediately kissing y/n’s head “how are you?”

“I’m good, we’re good” she smiles “You wanna see him?”

“Of course” They agree to which William picks the boy up from his crib.

Not before he stands as watches the two parents fawn over the girl, a soft smile on his face

“Here” the baby wakes in his mothers arms and Lauren gasps “He’s so beautiful guys. William he has your eyes”

“Thank you” he smiles.

“Guys” y/n starts “This is Roman”

The two gasp lighting and William watches as James’ bottom lip quivers “Really?”

“Really. Roman’s always with us, even when he’s not”

“He’d be so proud of you, y/n” his mom sobs and she only smiles in return.

James clears his throat to stop the tears and looks at the baby “Well then! Welcome to the world, Roman. You’ve got the best mom and dad a kid could ask for”

the start of mom & willy

willy never knew much about his neighbours. he’d taken over the lease for the apartment from Kasperi when he left Toronto.

He’d met them in passing in the hallway before, a young couple who seemed to be so incredibly in love. Roman and Y/N.

They’d dropped off cookies at Christmas and the girl, y/n had spoken to William a few times once he’d told her he was Swedish she offered to check on his apartment during the time he went home, watch the dogs. She was sweet and William was glad his neighbours didn’t expose him online.

He typically saw her in the elevator on a Sunday morning collecting her morning coffee. Will felt a little sad he didn’t see her smiling face when he went to walk the dogs on Sunday.

William didn’t see her for the next days following.

That was until Wednesday night, he had no game that night and was sat binging some tv show with his dog by his side.

Then the doorbell rang, he frowned not expecting company. Opening the door to find his neighbour, the usually smiley and happy girl now the shell of that person, with tear stained cheeks, a quivering lip and watery eyes.

William looked down at the plate in her hand — Spaghetti.

“Hey, um what are you—“

“Roman’s dead” she sobbed.

William didn’t know what to do, pulling the plate out of her hands and onto the sideboard before pulling her into his hold. The girl sobbed and grasped onto his hoodie.

“Shhh, it’s ok- well no it’s not ok but you’re safe. You’re safe with me”

He brought her in, holding her on his couch and they ate the spaghetti which she brought over after making the normal amount and then getting upset knowing he wasn’t here any longer to eat it with her.

“My heart hurts so much William”

“Your heart’s going to heal, y/n I promise”
