Of course, his and Ai's daughter had grown up to be a beautiful young woman. How could she not with a mother like Ai? How could she be anything unlike Ai?

(Ai was one of a kind, but maybe she could replicate what she was like. Not in a way like any of them did.)

But he pushed those thoughts out of his head for now. There was an immediate impulse the moment she spoke he had to admit: the moment she offered an autograph there was a small impulse to just wrap his hands around her throat, watch her panic, watch her try to scream, watch those stars dim and fade like a supernova from her eyes-

But if nothing else, he was a master of self control.

"Ah- yes! If you'd be so kind! Don't worry, I don't want a handshake," he reached for his notepad and a pen, handing it to Ruby. "I was really interested. B-Komachi, you know? You're filling in some very steep shoes... it's admirable. It's almost like you're keeping her memory alive."

His smile looked innocent enough.

"Ah, I'm sorry if I'm being cryptic, just... I couldn't help it after realizing who you were! You really do remind me exactly of—"

she'd always been proud of her children - but a certain sense of pride came with watching them improve with her own eyes. after the first school performance, ruby had shown potential with her dancing, to the point that it almost felt like she'd been watching a miniature version of herself.

ah, her kids truly were genuineness, weren't they ?!

it was enough to fuel an even greater fire to her, she'd keep working hard so that she could see what kind of wonderful adults that they'd become, and she'd give them the life that she was never able to have.

a smile makes way to her lips as she watches her daughter twirl and pose in the dance studio, giving an almost overenthusiastic clap of the hands when she finishes the routine. she decided that she'd watch ruby do the routine by herself first to get an idea of what she needed to improve on, and then she'd join her and help.

Aqua practically wandered into Miyako's office, his arms holding up a tall and precarious stack of sheet music binders. Despite some uneasy steps, he manages to make some wobbly steps over to the table in front of the couch where Ruby was sitting. With a grunt, he sat the stack down as gently as he could--Which is to say, about half of the tower immediately slid off and to the side, strewing open books and single pages of music across the floor.

A groaning sigh escaped Aqua's lips as his eyes closed, not terribly wanting to even look at the mess he'd just made. Even so, he got down on the floor and started pulling everything back into a clean, and smaller, second stack.

"Anyway..."

He trails off in a tone as if he wants to try and use this conversation to avoid acknowledging his fumble.

"...I've been reading through the sheets of mom's old songs to try and see if there's anything else you guys can add to your sets."

Aqua finishes stacking the last loose binder, leaving his hands to linger on top of the pile drumming his fingers in an uncertain rhythm. His gaze turns to meet Ruby's eyes, looking both serious and disappointed about the subject.

"Seems there's no avoiding it. You really need a fourth member. I've only been able to dig up versions of STAR☆T☆RAIN and B Is The Sign that were written for only three to perform, and that's probably because they were the first songs to be written."

Ai leans back, huffing. For some reason.. Ruby wasn't keen on veggies and the like as Aqua was. Though, she was certain her son was practically born a elderly man..

That was besides the point. Ai was slightly impressed by the fact Ruby was stubborn enough to sit here and refuse to finish her meal..

...At the least she picked apart the meat and noodles from the stir fry Ai made, but, still!

ah, what a lousy mother she was.

her children were her world, and yet she couldn't even tell them that she loved them. the fear of uttering the words only to realize that they weren't true haunting ai to her core. a hand moves to gently rub her daughters back as she places her head on ai's shoulders. she smiles warmly, even if ruby isn't able to see her face.

the mother wonders if her children thank bad of her for not saying those words - i love you - to them. have they realized that she hasn't said it to them ?? do they think it's strange ?? she cares for them deeply and she was happy that she had a family of her own to take care of, that was the truth.

she moves a hand to pat her daughter on the head.

and that, too, was the truth. the time spent with her children was precious to her, to have the chance to raise two humans with her own two hands ?? even now it was hard to think of. but it was real life, and it was her life.

He had to admit- when he heard she had gone as far as to name her group B-Komachi, he was intrigued. Ruby really did grow up to be a beautiful young woman- of course she did, she was Ai's daughter. 2. A kiss on the nose.

as a mother, of course she needed to take time to help her children feel better when she was sick. even if it meant coming home from practice early ( the lie to get out of it was easy enough, simply telling the rest of the girls that she ate something bad the night before, and that it was coming back to bite her. )

she makes sure to stop at a convenience store on her way home, picking up a few cans of soup to help with the cold.

she may not have been the best chef, but following instructions on a can was easy enough. a short while later she brings the bowl with a spoon out to her daughter, pressing a gentle kiss on her nose as she does.
