The portrait by Rudolph Eickemeyer Jr. (1862-1932) had no description, but the model looks like Evelyn Nesbit to me. She married a millionaire who one day killed a lover / supposed lover of her. Adds non intrinsic symbolism to the portrait.
The painting is the work of Guillaume Seignac (1870-1924): Le coffret / The jewel case (circa 1920).

Photo by Rudolph Eickemeyer Jr. (1862-1932). No date, I'd guess late 1890s, early 1900s.
