* I’ve been hoarding this rusted piece of fabric for a while now and decided to throw it in the washing machine with some old house cleaning rags and some of the rust washed away. I’m happy enough with the out come, however next time I’ll soak in salty water after I unroll them to see if I get better results. Does anyone have any tips on how to retain the rust color? Ps. * I think these fabric wrapped coils are ready to dry and unwrap. When my dad passed away back in 2014, I inherited his rusty bits collection. He would walk for miles and one of his favorite paths was along the railroad tracks, he found lots of good stuff there. Having this part of him to remember him by makes me happy.
