The Universal Studios Japan shared those autographed shikishi they received from the power couple, Yoshihiro Togashi and Naoko Takeuchi. They are also displayed at the theme park, in Osaka.

Hunter x Hunter: The Real 4D and Sailor Moon: The Miracle 4D are part of the Universal Cool Japan 2022 event, and they will be open until August 28, 2022. Besides a 20-minute 4D animation, the attractions also offer themed food, drinks and merchandise. I hope they do Yu Yu Hakusho one day!

It's funny that Togashi wrote "Thank you for your visit" in a very polite Japanese speech, while Naoko wrote the message as if Usagi herself were talking. ^^

Togashi recently posted on his official twitter (Aug 12, 2022) that his symptoms haven't improved, so he had to spend a substantial amount of his time on medical treatment and recovery. Let's all wish Togashi a speedy recovery!

Talking about Togashi, this person posted on their twitter that Togashi sent dorayaki as "sashiire" to the Netflix live-action shooting site of Yu Yu Hakusho ���

Sashiire is when you give food or snacks to people in order to cheer them up, appreciate their work, and also for comfort and encouragement. It's great to know that Togashi is supporting the cast and crew of the upcoming live action series 😊

They've come out with a new chapter for the Sailor Moon Universal Studios Japan 4-D attraction!

The Moon Palace looks amazing in this. Also we have Chibiusa and the Outers in this!! Even Saturn!! They weren't in the last one to my knowledge, so that's pretty awesome. Looks like we'll get Super Sailor Moon in this as well, and that the audience may get to participate in that part.

Man I wish I lived in Japan.

Sailor Moon at USJ (Report)

My roommate and I tried finding information on the Sailor Moon attraction at Universal Studios Japan before heading over, but there didn’t seem to be much online. It’s a fan’s duty to fill the silence, so please forgive this non-YYH post while I talk about the work of Togashi’s wife.

“Sailor Moon: The Miracle” is a new movie you, the USJ guest, are going to watch. As you enter the waiting room before you can take your seat, you are passed 3D glasses. On the walls are large posters of all the inner senshi, Luna and Artemis. A video featuring the USJ Cutie Rod plays overhead while other guests filter in, and on the same screen follows a brief clip introducing the protectors of peaceful planet earth. The projector keeps running, and the shadows of Luna and Artemis appear on the screen. Luna explains the senshi are at USJ investigating youma activity. They’ve spread out across the park and Usagi is supposed to be checking this theater, but she is late. Luna goes off to find her. The doors to the theater open.

It's an old classic theater style, with ornate curved ceilings. Pink hearts are projected on the arches. There’s also a moon projected onto the red curtains covering the main screen. When they lift, Usagi is wandering the “stage” in front of the screen, lost. An animated usher woman asks what she is doing and Usagi almost reveals the youma/Sailor Moon thing but catches herself. The usher asks her to have and seat and she scurries off screen, implied to join the audience.

The usher says, “Let’s begin.... collecting energy!” and suddenly the seats start to rumble and she transforms into a youma, witch-like in appearance, wearing a red carpet worthy gown. Old movie reels hover behind each of her shoulders. She rips the theater up into the air to make sure no one can escape. You see bits of USJ around you crumbling as you’re pulled upwards.

Once in the sky, with earth & space in the backdrop, the youma begins collecting energy with her reels of film. The film itself is snake-like, and shoots around trying to grab and bite people as it collects energy. Air whizzes by your ears. The youma notices someone in the theater has exceptional energy and finds Sailor Moon, quickly grabbing and trapping her inside a film strip.

The other inner senshi arrive just in time to save you all! The seats rumble with each attack, and you get sprayed with water when Mercury uses her powers. They manage to weaken the youma and set Usagi free. Mercury warns the youma hasn't been defeated and that Usagi should hurry and transform.

Cue transformation sequence with bubbles!

As she finishes transforming, the youma comes back stronger and attacks furiously, managing to trap each senshi but Sailor Moon. She’s nearly snatched by film again when a rose slices through the scene. Tuxedo Mask! He protects Sailor Moon from a second attack and promptly collapses uselessly to the floor. (Audience dies of laughter.)

Sailor Moon uses her wand and manages to push back the youma and free/revive her friends. Still, it’s not enough. They need more power.

Tuxedo Mask whips out the USJ Cutie Rod and tells her to use it. (Audience dies again.) Usagi comments, “Isn’t that just a toy?” but Tuxedo Mask insists, “It’s as powerful as you believe it is.”

The youma returns as a giant the audience and senshi must fight together. You win! Bad news: the magic is gone and you’re all plummeting to Earth. Sailor Moon and the senshi don’t have enough power on their own to save you, but if you all put your love together and use the Cutie Rod, it’ll be ok! Make heart hands, and if you have the wand, use its power!

The power of love manifests as a giant heart bubble that cushions your fall and USJ is restored. Sailor Moon makes you promise not to tell anyone what you saw or that you met her, or “I’ll punish you!”

Attraction Food:

There was caramel popcorn you could purchase in a Sailor Moon case. At the cafe across the street they had a signature drink, two cakes, and a lunch set. The drink was a lemon-berry soda with popping red and yellow boba and mini star-shaped cut fruit (tasted like guava but not sure). The cake I tried, styled after Sailor Moon's broach, had white chocolate coated raspberry mousse, layered over strawberries, cream, and vanilla cake. Overall, pretty good flavors for theme park food.

Other:

You could pay to hold wand replicas and get your photo taken professionally. The most expensive package included goods and a meet-and-greet with a Tuxedo Mask face character.

The Sailor Moon event at USJ started this past March and will run through June (2018). If you happen to be in the Osaka area, it's fun and campy and you should definitely check it out. However, even if you are a big fan of the series, I don't think this attraction is worth dropping everything and hopping on a plane to Japan for. There's always another event in the making! (Maybe with some outer senshi involved, please?)

Sailor Moon’s First “Universally Cool” Attraction! Pretty Guardian SailorMoon: The Miracle 4D! 

A 4DCG Animated Event premiering March 2018 at Universal Studios Japan! More info can be found on SailorMoon 25th Anniversary’s website!! Google is roughly translating this but special tickets are being sold currently Janury 30th? I think these are first lookers VIP tickets, so those who wanna see it before March?

Attraction Overview:

Each senshi’s getting a transformation with special effects provided by Universal Studios Japan! (most likely based on the 90s Choreography so I don’t expect anything new and flashy, though you might actually “feel” what it’s like being in a senshi transformation?)

The story is completely original! An original story that can only be experienced at the attraction! .... However...The plot seems like an average Sailor Moon one: The girls are hanging out in the park and some Youma’s attacks! It’s up to the five Sailor Guardians to protect the park, and they’ll need YOUR HELP! (So I guess this means no Black Moon Clan or Dark Kingdom’s youmas, just some random monsters of the week?)

Watching this video: wow, the design of this store is gorgeous. The merch is nothing spectacular, though. Just basic Sailor Moon merch, plus the Glow With The Show wand.

That "Compact Cake" at the Universal Studios Japan was actually REALLY good. The bottom layer was a very moist donut-like cake, then came a layer of fresh strawberries and cream (and japanese cream is the best cream - everyone who's ever been here will know what I'm talking about), then a layer of strawberry cream mousse. The decorative layer was marzipan, white chocolate and candy. The Sailor Moon drink meanwhile was kinda strange lol. A strawberry soda meets bubble tea and star-shaped litschis marinated in... *something* lol. But it was bubbly and fruity and sparkly and very, very fitting.

Watch Web CM for Sailor Moon the Miracle 4-D: Moon Palace Chapter

Universal Studios Japan's official YouTube channel has started streaming a 30-second web-exclusive CM for Sailor Moon the Miracle 4-D: Moon Palace Chapter, the upcoming second chapter of the 4D attraction inspired by Naoko Takeuchi's internationally popular Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon franchise. The clip is narrated by the protagonist Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon's anime voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi. 

  As the franchise's first attraction for USJ, "Sailor Moon the Miracle 4-D" joined the park's "Universal Cool Japan 2018" project along with the ones based on Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, and Detective Conan. Thanks to its huge success, it will return for its second year with a brand new story featuring all 10 Sailor Guardians and Super Sailor Moon.

  "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon the Miracle 4-D: Moon Palace Chapter" is scheduled to run at USJ from

May 31 to August 25, 2019.
