Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Repair in Birmingham Cell Phones are becoming one of the most essentials for many of us. As they truly represent and dictate the work that we demand from them, like the ability to connect with the rest of the world, conduct meetings in this pandemic, and navigate to any place where we wish to go. But all of this comfort is worth the price. The average cost of a phone in the United States is as low as $600. For many of us who have to manage and look after the family doesn’t grasp this big valuable amount and it seems difficult. Therefore the safest escape is the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Repair in Birmingham which is probably a manageable yet affordable option to replace a damaged phone. We are also providing repair services for  Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Repair in Birmingham. In the old flip phone days, the major issue that most of the users suffered from was a poor battery that would no longer hold a charge for a day. Although the fix was simple it was not affordable at all. A new battery was in the late, cheaper than a new phone, but the charger touch screen on most of the phones are more fragile than the micro-sized screen of the old models. And if that tiny gadget cracked, a touch screen becomes almost impossible to use. Fortunately, many  Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Repairs in Birmingham can replace the broken screen just at a fair fraction of the cost of the new phone. This is undoubtedly the most popular service needed for the smartphone and one of the most approachable methods for the users as well as technicians and accomplished in a very timely manner. Improvements Samsung Needs to Make in 2021
One company that has experimented a lot with its Android devices and still stands at a great position in the market is Samsung. This year was a huge success for the company as it released its top-tier flagship phones, including Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series. Not only this, but it entered into the foldable market and launched Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 2. However, Galaxy S20 FE is the icing on the cake.
Tumblr media
Apart from these Android phones, the accessories introduced by Samsung and the three-year commitment of OS updates adds to the win. Though it seems like Samsung had a great year, there are many things that Samsung needs to work on. According to the users, below mentioned are the top six things that Samsung must consider before launching new devices in 2021. So, read along to learn more!
Glass Durability for Foldable Phones
You must have heard about Samsung discontinuing the Galaxy Note family multiple times. However, it didn’t happen that way,it seems like the company is pretty sure about doing the same in 2021.
An S Pen support across devices will be replacing the Note, and the idea is quite exciting. If Samsung is looking forward to introducing the S Pen support, they should find a way to improve the toughness of its UltraThin Glass.
The Z Fold 2 uses an improved plastic screen from the original Galaxy Fold; however, the durability still needs to be improved. Samsung started installing a screen protector to keep its screen from scratches or dent, but it worsened the touch-experience.
It is essential to mention that if Samsung is planning to include an S Pen along with the Z Fold 3, it needs to improve its UTG.
Come Up with a Competitor of a True Pixel 4a
Samsung’s one of the most awaited phones in 2020 was the Galaxy S20 FE. It offered the same experience as the Galaxy S20 at a much lower price. However, a $700 phone is still not a low-cost phone that many people were looking forward to get but couldn’t.
The market was highly dominated by cheaper phones, including the Pixel 4a and Moto G Power this year. Therefore, Samsung must come up with a phone in 2021 that gives a tough competition to others.
Prime Focus on Sustainability
If you’re a follower of Apple and Google, you must have noticed that the two companies made a great push towards sustainability. For instance, many components of the iPhone 12 are made of recycled earth elements. On the other hand, Google’s Nest Audio smart speaker is made from recycled bottles.
Undoubtedly, Samsung has made efforts to make its products more sustainable, but it has still not reached the level of its competitors. Thus, there is a lot more the company can do to increase the sustainability of its devices, and it is expected that Samsung will make an effort towards the same in 2021.
No More Curved Display
All the new phones introduced by Samsung in 2020 had curved displays, including the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. These curves were unliked by the majority of the people and it is expected that the company comes up with devices featuring flat screens in the future.
There are rumors about Galaxy S21 returning with the flat edges. Not only this, but it is expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2 will stick to the flat edges just as their previous models.
A Chromebook Under $1000
Chromebook Plus V2 was a device introduced by Samsung two years back. It was one of the best Chromebooks of the time with a high-quality display, speedy performance, and more at just $499.
However, the company did not launch any other Chromebook after that until this year when Samsung flaunted its $1000 Galaxy Chromebook. Notably, the sale of Chromebooks increased in 2020 because of being an amazing alternative to Windows and Mac, but everyone’s looking forward to an affordable version in 2021.
Three Year Updates for All Other Phones
While Samsung launched its Note 20, it also promised a three-year update for many phones and tablets. However, you’ll also notice many phones missing from the list of getting these updates, including the Galaxy M and Galaxy F phones.
Samsung bringing updates to its phones is a huge thing, but only if you buy a mid or high-tier phone. Therefore, the company must extend the update system to its low-cost Galaxy phones as well.
These are the expected improvements that the company might bring after listening to its users. However, there’s still no official word about the same. So, are you excited to see what Samsung has got to offer in the new year?

From Trump’s executive orders to ban TikTok and WeChat to the launch of Galaxy Note 20, here’s the tech news roundup of the week. (Image credit: Bloomberg)
The world of technology saw a lot of developments throughout the week. Donald Trump has had a busy week, as he issued two executive orders against China-based TikTok and WeChat, prohibiting Americans from doing any business with the apps’ Chinese owners, citing national security concerns. Microsoft too made headlines this week when it confirmed that it was looking to acquire TikTok’s US operations before September 15, the date when President Trump said he would ban the video-sharing app in the US. Elsewhere, we saw the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series, Google Pixel 4a and refreshed 27-inch iMac. This week we also heard the news of Apple’s long-serving executive Phil Schiller stepping down from his role of chief marketing officer.
Here’s a comprehensive recap of the best tech stories from the past week.
Trump signs executive orders against TikTok and WeChat
President Donald Trump signed two executive orders that would ban TikTok and WeChat from operating in the US in 45 days if they are not sold by their Chinese-owned owners. The move puts pressure on ByteDance and Tencent to either sell their US operations to an American company or shut down the app in the country. WeChat is a messaging app developed by Tencent, whereas TikTok is a popular video-sharing app by ByteDance. Both apps were among 59 Chinese apps banned by the Indian government in late June.
What is WeChat and why does President Trump want to ban the ‘super app’?

Microsoft wants a slice of TikTok.
Microsoft eyes TikTok’s US operations
Microsoft appears to the front runner in acquiring TikTok’s US operations. If the two companies reach a deal, Microsoft would get to operate TikTok in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. The size of the deal is not known, though CNBC speculates Microsoft could pay anywhere between $10 to $30 billion to acquire TikTok’s US operations from its parent company ByteDance. Meanwhile, The Financial Times heard from its sources that the Redmond, Washington-based software giant wants to buy TikTok’s global business, including the app’s operations in India and Europe. India is TikTok’s biggest market with over 650 million downloads, according to Sensor Tower. A deal would give Microsoft access to the data and TikTok’s algorithm that makes it different from similar video-sharing apps.

The Galaxy Note Ultra is a $1,399 smartphone. Even by Samsung’s standards, this is a high-end luxury device. It’s the phone for people who board the plane early and derive a sense of pride in watching the rest of us slowly shuffle onto the plane, wondering just how close to the back we’ll get.
Sure, most or all of these features will eventually trickle their way down into less-expensive models, but this is the phone for those willing to pay a premium to get a year ahead of the competition.
5G is the perfect example of the phenomenon. Still a luxury on last year’s models, it’s now standard across the Note line (and almost certainly will be with the Galaxy S when the new models arrive in six months). The world’s cellular networks may not have been ready to support it at the time, but it was yet another bleeding-edge tech available for early adopters willing to pay a premium.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 ships August 21, starting at $1,000
The truth of the matter is you’d be getting a nice phone whether you opt for the Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra — or, for that matter, any member of the S20 line. In spite of the $400 gulf, there are only a few key differences between the Note 20 and the Ultra. The first and most immediate difference is the screen. That’s how you know you’ve got a truly premium device. It’s really, really big.
Here that means the difference between a 6.7-inch (2,400×1,080) and 6.9-inch (3,088×1,440) display. It’s a far smaller difference than the gulf between the 6.2-inch and 6.9-inch S20 options. It’s ultimately to the detriment of the Note line that its largest screen size is the same as the S20, and that there’s relatively little size difference between the two Notes. I would say that the high-end is really starting to bump up against the ceiling on smartphone screens, but we’ve said that time and again, and yet here we are.

The primary factor that has facilitated the Note’s growth from what seemed like an impossible large 5.3 inches to 6.9 in its nine-year existence is Samsung’s commitment to reducing the handset’s screen-to-body ratio. Even so, the Ultra is a very large phone. I can’t wrap my hand fully around it. Honestly, depending on the size of your hands and/or pockets, the sheer size of the product could well be a deal breaker.
The upshot of having such a big phone is that you get more space for a battery. Here that means a 4,500mAh battery life to the 20’s 4,000. That’s good, but still significantly smaller than the S20 Ultra’s 5,000mAh, likely owing to the presence of the S Pen slot, which eats up a chunk of the internal footprint. I was able to make it more than 24 hours on a single charge (closer to 28), definitely hitting the company’s benchmark of “all day” life.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ review
Your results, as ever, will vary. But that goes double in a time when 5G coverage remains spotty in the U.S. Samsung sent a model with a Verizon SIM (TC’s parent company, for the record). I wasn’t able to get onto the 5G network in Queens where I live, but things did flick on when I walked across the bridge into Manhattan over the weekend. In a more ideal situation, I would be able to do a more controlled test between LTE and 5G battery ratings, but it’s 2020 and ideal is far too much to hope for.

The other major difference between the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra is, of course, the camera. Once again, the camera module is massive. Samsung’s freshened up the industrial design a bit, but it’s frankly still pretty massive. That’s forgivable, however, when you factor in what the handset is packing here. Both new Notes sport a triple camera system, but the Ultra swaps the 12-megapixel wide lens for a 108-megapixel, joining the 12-megapixel ultra wide and 12-megapixel telephoto.

The setup is similar to the S20 Ultra’s, with a few important distinctions. For starters, the time-of-flight depth camera has been swapped out for a laser autofocus. The TOF definitely feels like a more future-proofing aspect. In addition to current portrait mode demands, it will likely play an important role as augmented reality becomes an increasingly important aspect of mobile software, going forward. That said, laser autofocus just feels more pragmatic for the demands of everyday picture taking. And even without portrait mode enabled, the camera setup has a real and effective bokeh on images and is pretty effective with close-up macro photos.

The other big update here are some tempered expectations on the Space Zoom front. Introduced for the S20 Ultra, the feature promised a mind-boggling 100x zoom. The truth of the matter was less exciting, as anything approaching that top number was ultimately unusable. Most shots ended up looking like a work of abstract impressionism. The Note Ultra keeps things to a still-impressive, but more manageable, 50x.
You’re still risking some fairly serious image degradation at that number, but overall, the results are going to be more pleasing than going double that number. And overall, the zoom on this thing is really excellent. Using the default photo software, I’d recommend sticking to the three tree icons to switch between the three primary cameras. That will keep it at a maximum 10x optical zoom. But if you need a bit more than that, go for it.
Samsung’s approach to camera quality has been largely hardware-focused, and the results are clear in the images it takes. It’s a contrast to Google’s approach, which seeks to almost exclusively differentiate itself with computational photography. The Pixel’s camera is very good in its own right, but it just can’t compete with the Note on things like quality zoom. Of course, Samsung’s approach costs money. It’s important to remember that we’re talking about a $1,400 phone here, friends.
The screen is really excellent. The colors can be a bit oversatured for my tastes — particularly when it comes to bright reds, but that’s an easy fix by toggling from “vivid” to “natural” under screen settings. For some the reds might be a bit muddy under the latter setting. Either way, it’s really just a matter of personal preference, but I recommend playing around with it. The 120Hz refresh rate makes for some extremely fluid animations, but this is also one of those features you can easily disable when you need to conserve battery.
The directional mic was one of the more underrated features introduced on the S20, allowing you to determine the focus of the audio recording based on the device’s positioning. Cooler still is the ability to use the Galaxy Live Buds as mics while recording. That’s something that will come in handy for standup interview videos, particularly in noisy environments.
The Note 20 is among the first devices to sport the Snapdragon 865+ — essentially an overclocked version of the flagship 865 you’ll find on the S20. The clock speeds are a bit souped up here and graphic performance has been improved by about 10%. Mobile processors don’t really get better than this in 2020. I plan to post something a bit more complete on the Microsoft partnership that brings some exclusive Game Pass content to handset (honestly, I’m waiting on one of those Bluetooth mobile Xbox controllers at the moment).
Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra is a lot of phone for a lot of money
<
p class=”p1″>But this thing sings for most of your everyday tasks, and will likely be one of the better handsets for cloud gaming, as the latest flagship Snapdragon has been paired with 12GB of RAM. There’s also a good 128GB of storage here, expandable to a very good 512GB. Better still, that can be expanded to a ridiculous 1TB courtesy of the microSD slot (also available on both S20 models, but absent in the regular Note).
I probably write this every time a new Note comes out, but I’m not really a stylus person, even after nearly a decade of playing around with Note devices. That said, I continue to be impressed with the device’s ability to recognize my truly terrible handwriting. Maybe I’ll be a convert one of these generations. Stranger things have happened I guess. The S Pen is quite refined and very responsive after all of these generations. Air Actions let you use the stylus as a control even at a distance — a neat enough feature, but once again one I don’t see myself using. Other cool new additions here include Audio Bookmark, which will sync recordings to the notes you’re taking. Definitely helpful, though I anticipate it will be more so when Samsung introduces live transcriptions à la Google Recorder one of these generations.
If you’ve read enough of these bi-annual Samsung flagship reviews, you probably know what’s coming next. The Note represents more of a refinement over its predecessor than something more substantial. If your Note is a year or two old, you certainly don’t need to run out to replace that also very-good phone. That’s just sort of where we’re at in the life cycle of the mobile industry. On the whole, updates just feel more incremental.
But as with each of these devices, the Note 20 Ultra represents some of the finest mobile hardware you can purchase at this point in time. The camera, especially, deserves to be called out for its truly excellent capabilities. But, as ever, the finest is going to cost you. If you can stomach the idea of a $1,400 Android phone, they don’t come much better than the Galaxy Note Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra review The Galaxy Note Ultra is a $1,399 smartphone. Even by Samsung’s standards, this is a high-end luxury device.

Samsung Galaxy M31s Full Review
Samsung Galaxy M31s Detailed Review
Samsung Galaxy M31s incorporates an Infinity-O AMOLED Display.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Samsung Galaxy M31 figured out how to have a decent effect in the spending fragment on account of its fresh AMOLED show and a major battery, which recognized it from the opposition. Samsung has now propelled its replacement, called the Galaxy M31s. The new Galaxy M31s sports an Infinity-O show and the Single Take camera include the two firsts for the Galaxy M arrangement. Beginning at Rs. 19,499, do these new highlights legitimize the more significant expense? I survey the Galaxy M31s to discover. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s plan: Premium looks The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a to some degree new structure that makes it stand apart contrasted with its kin in the Galaxy M arrangement. It gets a 6.5-inch Infinity-O show with an opening punch installed camera focused at the top. I have seen such a structure on the Galaxy Note 10+ ₹ 83,400 (Review) and the Galaxy Lite twins. As of late, the Galaxy A51 (Review) and Galaxy A71 likewise propelled with comparative presentations, so a similar structure on the Galaxy M31s makes it look premium. The bezel size is satisfactory at the cost, yet a couple of individuals may discover the camera gap in the middle a bit of diverting. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung has gone with a side-mounted unique finger impression scanner on the Galaxy M31s, which is on the privilege alongside the volume catches. These catches can be reached while holding the cell phone in the hand, yet need somewhat of a stretch. I would have favored the volume catches on the left, which just has the SIM opening. The USB Type-C port, 3.5mm sound jack, and speaker are at the base while the top has an auxiliary mouthpiece.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The telephone has a plastic back, which Samsung alludes to as 'Glasstic'. It has a polished completion and gets fingerprints without any problem. I needed to continue cleaning the back as often as possible to keep up its polished look. Samsung offers the Galaxy M31s in two slope finish alternatives, Mirage Black and Mirage Blue. I had the Mirage Black rendition for this survey, and I loved the look by and large. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s has a quad-camera module at the back that seems to be like the one seen on the Galaxy M31 ₹ 16,499, however, the sensors moved around. The module likewise houses the single-LED streak. The Galaxy M31s has a 6,000mAh battery, which makes it weigh in at 203g. You will feel the mass when holding this telephone for some time. The back is bent at the edges, however, which makes it somewhat less awkward. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s determinations: Same old Samsung is staying with its Exynos 9611 once more, to control the Galaxy M31s. We have seen this processor in various Galaxy cell phones presently including the Galaxy M21 ₹ 15,999 which is estimated under Rs. 15,000. The Exynos 9611 SoC is a demonstrated processor however I was expecting Samsung to utilize something more up to date and all the more impressive. The Exynos 9611 is an octa-center processor with four execution Cortex-A73 centers timed at 2.3GHz and four effectiveness Cortex-A53 centers timed at 1.7GHz. The cell phone is accessible in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM alternatives, however, the capacity stays unaltered at 128GB. You do have the choice to extend capacity by up to 512GB utilizing a microSD card. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There is support for Bluetooth 5, double band Wi-Fi air conditioning, and GPS just as double 4G and VoLTE. Samsung has packaged a 25W USB Type-C charger in the case, which is a first for the Galaxy M arrangement. You likewise get a USB Type-C to Type-C link that can be utilized to turn around charge different gadgets utilizing the Galaxy M31s.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Regarding programming, the Galaxy M31s run OneUI 2.1 on the head of Android 10. My audit unit had the July Android Security fix. The UI is fundamentally the same as what I've seen on other Galaxy M arrangement cell phones that I've surveyed, for example, the Galaxy M31 and the Galaxy M21. The arrangement procedure prompts you to introduce a couple of applications, and much in the wake of skirting that I discovered Candy Crush Saga, Snapchat, Netflix, Facebook, and OneDrive preinstalled on the gadget. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s likewise has the Galaxy Store application which is an option in contrast to the Google Play Store. The telephone has Glance Lock Screen Stories, so you will see special photographs and stories on the lock screen. You can handicap this whenever required. I saw a couple of notices from the My Galaxy application every once in a while. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); You do get the choice to tweak the vibe of the UI utilizing the subjects application. The Galaxy M31s additionally has other helpful programming highlights, for example, double applications, which let you run two cases of the equivalent application. You get Android's Digital Wellbeing highlight, which causes you to screen your cell phone use and a Game Launcher which clubs all the games introduced on the gadget in one spot. There is a Game Toolbar also, which lets you square warnings and full-screen signals and offers in-game screen recording. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s execution and battery life: Holding back The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a somewhat dated processor however this didn't affect everyday execution. I didn't experience slack or stammer while experiencing the menus and utilizing the default applications. I had the 6GB RAM variation, and it could perform multiple tasks between various applications without any problem. In any case, stacking substantial applications took longer than expected.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
I saw the side-mounted unique mark scanner as brisk to open the gadget. Face acknowledgment was helpful yet not the quickest I've utilized. The presentation on the Galaxy M31s is fresh, has acceptable survey points, and gets brilliant enough outside. The camera gap the inside could be diverting particularly when watching recordings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); In the wake of utilizing the Samsung Exynos 9611 out of a couple of different cell phones, I had a reasonable thought of its exhibition, and the Galaxy M31s didn't astound me with its benchmark scores. In AnTuTu, it scored 192,550 focuses, which is lower than contenders, for example, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Motorola One Fusion+, which accomplished 277,058 and 273,407 individually. In Geekbench 5's single-center and multi-center tests, it scored 346 and 1,252 individually. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Illustrations execution isn't solid either, and the gadget could just hit 42fps and 14fps separately in GFXBench's T-Rex and Manhattan 3.1 tests. The Motorola One Fusion+ oversaw 55fps and 21fps in similar tests. I played PUBG Mobile on the Galaxy M31s, and the game defaulted to the High preset with illustrations set to HD and the casing rate to High. I could play the game at these settings with no stammer. The gadget got warm to the touch in the wake of playing for 20 minutes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s offers great battery life and went on for near two entire days with my utilization. In our HD video circle test, the cell phone continued for 24 hours and 2 minutes, which was amazing. Samsung brings down the screen brilliance when the battery dips under the 15 percent mark, however. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The provided 25W charger rushed to revive the battery, taking it to 34 percent shortly and to 65 percent in 60 minutes. Charging the telephone totally took barely 90 minutes. By and large, the battery execution is superb, and gratitude to switch charging, you can utilize the Galaxy M31s' 6,000mAh ability to charge different gadgets after all other options have been exhausted.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s cameras: Mixed sack The Samsung Galaxy M31s sports a quad-camera arrangement. The 64-megapixel essential camera has an f/1.8 opening. There's likewise a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-point camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel full-scale camera, and a 5-megapixel profundity sensor. The camera application is fundamentally the same as what I've seen on other top-end Samsung gadgets. It has the Single Take highlight which conveys a wide assortment of yield incorporating photographs with pre-applied channels, just as hyperlapse and boomerang video impacts, rather than simply shooting a basic video cut. It additionally has a Pro shooting mode which lets you assume full responsibility for the settings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s makes 16-megapixel efforts as a matter of course by binning the yield of its 64-megapixel essential sensor. In the sunshine, the telephone rushes to meter light effectively and the AI can recognize scenes rapidly. Photographs taken in light were sharp and had satisfactory detail. Text in the photographs was readable significantly in the wake of amplifying to 100 percent. You do have the alternative to go after the full 64 megapixels yet we favored the comfort of the default 16-megapixel goal.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The wide-point camera offers a more extensive field of view yet there is bending, and photographs are twisted at the edges. The goal is sufficiently high that you can edit into these shots, however, the degree of detail is lower contrasted with what the essential camera produces. Close-ups had great detail, and the telephone can deal with a delicate bokeh impact for the foundation which looks pleasant. The Galaxy M31s has a Live Focus mode for pictures, which lets you set the degree of obscure before making an effort. The large scale camera lets you get very near a subject however it didn't figure out how to catch hues well indeed. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I tried out the Single Take highlight, which gave me various yields for the recording I recorded. This thought behind this component is to guarantee that you don't miss a second. In the wake of hitting the shade button, the telephone records for around 15 seconds and offers different alternatives including the absolute best, a few channels, a keen yield, hyper-lapse, boomerang, and the first video. The photographs and the video it conveys were of a lower goal.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s daylight camera sample (tap to see full-size image)
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s daylight wide-angle camera sample (tap to see full-size image)
In low light, the Galaxy M31s oversaw respectable shots and held clamor within proper limits. The wide-edge camera didn't play out that well, however. Shooting photographs in Night mode brings about some trimming.
The yield isn't definitely more splendid however it improves detail.
The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a camera sensor of 32-megapixel and captures an object of 8-megapixel by default and 12-megapixel ones if requires a wider frame. In the sunshine, the telephone figured out how to catch great detail yet you have to keep it consistent subsequent to hitting the shade button for a fresh shot. It gives you the alternative to catch representations utilizing the Live Focus mode, and oversaw great edge recognition. Low-light selfies didn't offer a similar sort of detail.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s low-light camera sample (tap to see full-size image)
Samsung Galaxy M31s close-up sample (tap to see full-size image)
Video recording finishes out at 4K with the essential camera just as the selfie shooter. There is adjustment for video yet we saw a sparkling impact in the yield at 4K, while 1080p film was better. In low light, I saw a shine in the yield at the two goals. Decision (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung's Galaxy M arrangement is reliably well known, and the organization has been propelling new models into the market quickly. The Galaxy M31s is the replacement to the Galaxy M31 (Review) and gets a new look, the new Infinity-O AMOLED show, and quicker accusing of a higher limit packaged charger. It holds the equivalent 6,000mAh battery and maturing processor, however, which could prevent purchasers from putting their cash down. The camera execution is fundamentally the same as what the Galaxy M31 accomplished, and the new Single Take highlight conveys fascinating outcomes yet the tradeoff is lower-goal yield. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); On the off chance that battery life is your essential worry, there are not very many telephones that approach the Galaxy M31s' presentation. Be that as it may, you could set aside yourself some cash by going for the Galaxy M31, if its all the same to you the more seasoned style dewdrop score. On the off chance that you need better an incentive at this value point, the Motorola One Fusion+ (Review) and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (Review) are commendable other options.

Best iPhone 11 and 11 Pro cases to buy for 2020
There are a multitude of cases that protect the new iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Max, which Apple released in September. This list of my favorite cases focus on those that offer easy charging, are relatively slim and provide strong drop protection for your brand new iPhone. A few budget cases are included, but since this is more of a best-of-the-best list, most of my picks tend to be a bit spendier than the typical generic case you’ll find on Amazon for $20 or less. Also, since the iPhone 11 comes in a variety of colors that people may want to show off, I’ve included a number of cases that are translucent.
I’ll be updating this best roundup with new picks for the best iPhone 11 cases as they continue to arrive.
Sarah Tew/CNET
If you’re looking for the best iPhone 11 cases that are clear for your new smartphone, you can’t go wrong with Speck’s Stay Clear case, which resists discoloration (yes, cheap clear cases can turn yellow). It has a durable polycarbonate outer shell, provides 13-foot drop protection and includes Microban antimicrobial product protection. The case also allows for easy wireless charging. The clear, wireless charging case is available in versions for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Otterbox is making its superprotective Otterbox Defender series case for all the brand-new iPhone 11 models, but most people want something slimmer. The Symmetry series is slim with beveled edges, making it a good mix of sleek and protective. A raised bumper helps act as a screen protector. Multiple color options are available, including Symmetry Clear as well as the Symmetry Plus Pop case, which integrates a PopSockets PopGrip. Prices range from $50 to $60 (AU$59, £29), and they should go down over time.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Zagg recently bought top British casemaker Gear4 and is seeking to further build out its brand in the US. In terms of style and protection, Gear4’s cases are right there with Otterbox and Speck, all of them lined with the company’s D3O shock-absorbing material and featuring beveled edges to protect your phone. My favorites include the translucent Picadilly (also available for Samsung Galaxy) and Crystal Palace cases, as well as the Battersea. They range in price from $35 to more-expensive iPhone case options around $50.
Sarah Tew/CNET
If you’re looking for a cheap clear case for your new iPhone 11, Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid is a good value at around $11-$15, depending on which version of iPhone 11 you have. No drop rating is listed for the case, but it feels like Spigen cases offer reasonable protection (if you want even stronger protection, consider shelling out $35 more for the Spigen Tough Armor case), and it should appeal to folks who want a case that’s neither too thin nor too thick (Speck’s clear case is a bit thicker and does seem more protective). Unlike the Tough Armor, a lot of these cheaper clear cases have a habit of turning yellow over time (and becoming less translucent), but they’re cheap enough that you probably won’t mind shelling out for a replacement if that happens.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Speck’s Presidio Pro comes in a variety of colors and has a soft-to-the-touch finish that’s equipped with Microban antimicrobial technology. It’s drop-tested to 13 feet (about 4 meters) and is one of the best all-around cases for the iPhone 11. The case is highly protective, with a polycarbonate outer shell, but it’s not too bulky. Its thin design makes wireless charging easy.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Mous makes several cases that have eye-catching designs, including models finished in leather and wood. They’re all lined with the company’s AiroShock material that, according to the company, delivers excellent protection in a slim design. They do seem durable and all include a lifetime warranty.
I liked the speckled leather Contour case (pictured above, left), but Mous’ Limitless 3.0 line — the bamboo case on the right — is compatible with the company’s Limitless 3.0 accessories, which include a wallet that magnetically adheres to the back of the case and a couple of mounts, one of which is an air-vent mount for your car.
It’s also worth noting that these Mous cases are the only ones I’ve seen that have a SIM card storage slot on the inside of the case for international travelers in the habit of swapping SIM cards.
Cases start at $45.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Lifeproof, now owned by Otterbox, isn’t in the business of making waterproof cases anymore (it has only one case that’s waterproof: the Fre). But it still makes very nice cases to protect your iPhone, including the Next and Slam, as well as the new Flip Series, which adds a slip-out wallet element that turns into a kickstand. I personally like the Slam best. It costs $46 and comes in a variety of colors and designs. Pair it with its Rewind wall charger for speedy charging.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Moshi has always made attractive cases for iPhones, and its Overture (folio), iGlaze, Vitros and Altra (lanyard included) cases are available for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The Overture is actually a two-in-one case that’s a great screen protector. You fit your iPhone into a slim shell case that then magnetically adheres to the cover, which has slots for storing credit cards and cash. You can buy one in the $25-to-$50 price range.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Truth be told, I wasn’t a fan of earlier Pelican cases, which were very protective but just a little too bulky (and ugly). But its latest batch includes two that I like: the Traveler (pictured, left) and Rogue (at right), which has a soft rubber bubbled pattern. The “clear” version of the Rogue glows in the dark.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Speck’s Presidio Grip Series comes to the iPhone 11. It’s one of the more popular phone cases and still one of the best, although the ribs of the case can wear down over time. Available in multiple color options for $40.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Casetify’s cases are known for their eye-catching designs (that are stuck onto the back of a clear case). They’re relatively slim, sleek-looking cases that offer decent protection and come in a variety of design patterns, with some definite appeal to teenagers.
Sarah Tew/CNET
iFace cases are hugely popular in Japan but aren’t so well known in the US. With their oversized rounded edges and plenty of fun colors to choose from, they certainly stand out from the crowd and are quite protective. The First Class (pictured above in red and green) is available in a variety of colors and costs $25.
One of the newer models — the Reflection ($30) — has a transparent back that’s made of tempered glass. It’s available with several different trim color options.
On Amazon, iFace cases are currently being discounted by 10% with a clickable coupon.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Skech’s new Vortex case has a soft-to-the-touch finish and an integrated flip-out metal ring kickstand, and it adheres to the included magnetic car-vent mount. It comes in several color options (blue and black pictured) for all iPhone 11 models. It’s a little pricey at $50, but it does have some nifty extras (like a built-in ring holder and responsive buttons) and a nice design with 10-foot drop protection. You can still charge your phone on a wireless charging pad with the case on.
I also like Skech’s clear case, the Echo Air, which costs less ($30).
Sarah Tew/CNET
Nomad makes a line of nice leather cases, including leather wallet folio cases that come in brown or black. I personally like its new Rugged case, which features water-resistant leather. It’s rated for 6-foot (2 meter) drop protection. The leather case runs around $50, while the folio version, which has a flap that covers the screen, costs $70.
David Carnoy/CNET
Adidas-branded cases come in a variety of flavors that offer eye-catching designs that match some of the company’s iconic sneakers. They’re all pretty slim and provide decent though not great protection. Prices are anywhere from $12 to $50, depending on the style.
Sarah Tew/CNET
BodyGuardz was initially known for its screen protectors, but in recent years it’s put out some interesting iPhone cases. I personally like the $45 Momentum (pictured left), which has a padded textured back, and the $60 Accent Wallet (pictured right), a leather case that has a slot on the back for storing a couple of credit cards. Both those cases include a lanyard that you can choose to attach to the case or not.
The translucent Ace Pro (pictured middle) is the company’s most affordable case. It lists for $35.

Case-Mate makes a variety of color cases, some of which have glittery, snowglobe effects (my favorite is the new Waterfall Confetti case pictured on the right). Despite their fun, eye-catching designs, they’re also well built and will protect your device. Prices range from $30 to $40.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Silk brings its line of affordable, simple, slim cases and wallet cases to the iPhone 11 under the new brand name of Smartish. The Smartish Walletslayer case is one of the best iPhone 11 cases for those on a budget. It sells for $15 and holds three credit cards plus cash.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Razer, which makes laptops and gaming accessories (among other products), brings its line of “gaming” cases to the iPhone 11, and they’re pretty nice. The cases have something called Thermaphene-Based Heat Dissipation that “redirects trapped heat through a thermally conductive lining adjacent to vented airflow channels to significantly improve cooling compared to traditional cases.” It’s a bit of a gimmick, but it seems to help a little when you’re playing graphically intensive games for long periods. The cases start around $20 and come in Pro and Slim versions. I preferred the more protective Pro, which is currently on sale for $20.
Sarah Tew/CNET
X-Doria’s Defense series cases come in a wide variety of styles and cost a little less than competing premium cases from Gear4, Speck and Otterbox. I personally like the Defense Clear Series (pictured, second from right), which is a good match for the standard iPhone 11. It’s $25 and is available with a black or white trim.
Sarah Tew/CNET
I’ve always been a fan of Tech21’s Evo Check ($40) cases for previous iPhones and they’re available for the new iPhone 11 in a few different translucent color options (they’re the pink and smokey black cases in the photo above). Tech21 is also offering the slightly thinner but more colorful Studio series cases, which costs $10 less.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Tech21’s Evo Wallet is a well-designed folio case that features a screen protector cover with a magnetic latch and a slot on the inside for storing a couple of credit cards and a little bit of cash. It also converts into a stand for watching videos and is drop-tested to 12 feet (3.6 meters), so it’s pretty tough. It’s $49 on Amazon, though it’s currently only available for the 11 Pro.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Like Lifeproof, Catalyst made a name for itself with waterproof cases, but it now focuses on selling its Impact Protection Case, which is drop-tested to 9.9 feet and has a see-through back and slim design.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Griffin’s Survivor Series used to be one of the more popular tough cases. It’s slimmed down over the years but is still a pretty tough protector and comes in versions with a clear back. Price: $30.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Incipio has a bunch of new cases for the iPhone 11 line. I like the new Areolite Extreme, which comes in clear, sea blue and black and has the company’s FortiCore ribbing and raised edges to help with drop protection.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Otterbox’s swanky folio case, the Strada, returns for the iPhone 11 line. It’s available in brown and black for around $50 and does a nice job of fully protecting your phone. The only small strike against it is that it doesn’t convert into a viewing stand for watching videos. It’s probably best suited to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but it’s good for anyone who wants additional screen protection for any iPhone 11 model.
Sarah Tew/CNET
Portland-based Grovemade produces some beautifully crafted wooden cases. Its $60 wood bumper cases are the most affordable, but naturally I’m a fan of its Walnut and Leather Wallet case, which retails for a mere $130 (as a new customer you do get 10 percent off). It’s one of the lighter, more refined looking wallet cases you’ll find, and also comes in a lighter maple color.

Sony phones 2019 Review
Of course, any product under the famous Sony brand is interesting to consumers and experts. Sony smartphones are no exception. As known, the Japanese-Swedish Sony Mobile Communications Inc. was founded in 2001 and changed several names, including Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB and Ericsson Mobile Communications AB. Today, the company is a division of Sony Corporation and specializes in the production of smartphones. As a leader in the segment of digital cameras and TVs, the company has vast experience in creating effective technologies in the field of image processing, improving color accuracy, etc. Of course, the company's engineers are actively using these opportunities. For example, the company has developed an Cinema Pro app for the Xperia 1 with the interface of professional Sony CineAlta cameras. In particular, this app contains special presets with different color temperatures. As a result, Sony smartphones even with modest specs of matrices provide high-quality shooting in various modes, and high-quality video content playback. In fact, this aspect allows the company to reduce the price of its models without much damage to quality. As known, a company rarely installs expensive matrices in its cameras, despite the fact that it is a leader in this segment.
Introduction
Unlike many of its competitors, Sony prefers to release several models each year that differ significantly from the smartphones of the previous year. By the way, Google, Apple and Oppo also use this strategy. On the other hand, many well-known brands, including Samsung, LG, Huawei (Honor), Xiaomi prefer the strategy of intensive expansion of the lineup. For example, in 2014 Samsung introduced 56 new models, and LG - 41 new smartphones. Of course, each of them has its own pros and cons. For example, a wide range expands the company's ability to experiment with components, including the chipset, screen and cameras, choosing their optimal combination. As known, the commercial success of many Best Sellers is due to a very good price/quality ratio. But on the other hand, a large number of models increases the cost of advertising, support, etc. Of course, each strategy has its supporters among the management of different companies. But for consumers, a wide range expands the choice of the optimal smartphone, unfortunately, often complicating it. In 2019, Sony introduced five new models, including the Xperia 1, 5, 10, 10 Plus, and the Sony Xperia L3.
Sony Xperia 1
Xperia 1 became one of the most unusual flagships of 2019. The company's engineers risked changing the traditional aspect ratio for smartphones. As a result, Xperia 1 was the first smartphone to support the 21: 9 CinemaWide format. As a result, the model has an elongated narrowed form factor. Thus, the conditional classification of smartphones may soon replenish with CinemaWide models. In the case of a positive reaction of consumers, they will complement the list of phablets, camera phones and gaming phones. Of course, this aspect will largely depend on ergonomics due to a change in the shape of the case. All components correspond to the flagship level. Xperia 1 uses an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (1 x Kryo 485 Gold Prime, 2.84 GHz + 3 x Kryo 485 Gold, 2.42 GHz + 4 x Kryo 485 Silver, 1.8 GHz) chipset with Adreno 640 GPU. As known, Gold Prime and Gold cores replaced the previous Cortex-A76, and Silver - Cortex-A55. Additionally, the smartphone has 6GB RAM and 64/128GB internal memory. In addition, the model uses a 6.5-inch CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display with a 3840 x 1644 resolution, and its pixel density reaches an unprecedented 644 ppi. For comparison, the pixel density of the many flagships 2019 varies in the range of 300-400 ppi. As known, it directly affects eye strain. Thus, it is also ideal for long-term watching movies. The screen has Gorilla Glass 6 (IP65 / 68), an oleophobic coating, and also supports automatic brightness control and multi-touch. Xperia 1 also supports High-Res Audiowhich is also important when watching movies.
Cameras
Xperia 1 uses triple camera system, including: - 12MP, f/1.6, 26mm, 1/2.6", 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, optical stabilization; - -"-, f/2.4, 52mm (telephoto), 1/3.4", 1.0µm, PDAF, 2x optical zoom, optical stabilization; - -"-, f/2.4, 16mm (wide-angle, 78 °), 1/3.4 ", 1.0µm. The front camera has an 8MP sensor with f/2.0, 24mm, 1/4", 1.12µm. In addition, the 3330 mAh battery provides 17 hours of viewing HD video at maximum brightness due to the highly efficient Stamina and Ultra Stamina modes. PROS - 21: 9 CinemaWide format; - stylish design; - high performance in games; - fingerprint's scanner; - Cinema Pro app; - long battery life with Stamina and Ultra Stamina modes when watching a video; - SteadyShot mode (5-axis stabilization); - OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) + EIS (Electronic (Digital) Image Stabilizer); - Dual Photo-diode technology (each pixel is configured by two photo-diodes, providing an increase in the absorbed light); - noise reduction for RAW format; - support for 10-bit color depth; - Bravia technology and X1 algorithm for HDR format; - support for High-Res Audio format; - Creator Mode. Cons - controversial ergonomics of an elongated narrow body; - average specs of cameras; - no wireless charging; - battery life is significantly reduced in games. Today, the Sony Xperia 1 successfully competes with the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Huawei P30 Pro and with the cheaper Xiaomi Mi 9 and Asus ZenFone 6. Generally, it is ideal for watching movies, games, shooting, and has good prospects, especially among fans of this brand.
Sony Xperia 5, Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus
At the Berlin IFA 2019, the company introduced the compact flagship Xperia 5. In practice, this is a compact copy of Xperia 1. But unlike the prototype, Xperia 5 uses a 6.1-inch OLED display with 2520 x 1644 Full HD+ resolution, and its pixel density reaches only 449 ppi vs 644 ppi in Xperia 1. In addition, its battery capacity decreased to 3140 mAh vs 3300 mAh in Xperia 1. In Barcelona at MWC 2019, Sony also introduced the mid-budget Xperia 10 and Sony Xperia 10 Plus. Both models use a CinemaWide screen, run on Android 9 Pie, have a microSD slot, USB 3.1 Type-C and NFC. The list of main differences includes: Xperia 10 vs Xperia 10 Plus Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 6" IPS Full HD+ (457 ppi) vs 6,5" IPS Full HD+(422 ppi) RAM 3GB vs RAM 4GB 13MP, f/2.0, 27 мм, 1/3", 1.12µm vs 12MP, f/1,8, 27 мм, 1/2,8" 5MP, f/2.4, 22 мм, 1/4", 1.4µm vs 8MP, f/2.4, 53 мм, 1/4" 2870 mAh vs 3000 mAh Accordingly, Xperia 10 is cheaper by about 15-20%. It mainly competes with the Samsung Galaxy A50, Huawei P30 Lite and Xiaomi Pocophone F1. The price and specs of the Xperia 10 Plus compete with the Samsung Galaxy A70, Honor 10 and Xiaomi Mi 8. But in both cases, the CinemaWide screen will be a serious argument for fans of watching movies on a smartphone.
Sony Xperia L3
Sony Xperia L3 also belongs to the mid-budget segment. The model has a 5.7-inch IPS CinemaWide screen with a 1440 x 720 resolution (282 ppi), uses the 8-core 12nm Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 (4 x Cortex-A53, 2GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.5 GHz), RAM 3GB, dual camera system (13MP, f/2.2, 26 mm, PDAF + 2MP), an 8MP front camera with f/2.0, and a 3300 mAh battery. The list of its main competitors includes Samsung Galaxy A30, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Honor 10 Lite.
Conclusion
Of course, the 21: 9 aspect ratio in the CinemaWide format was for many experts an unexpected surprise in 2019. If this idea is successful, it can quickly spread among other market participants. In this case, CinemaWide smartphones will complement the list of camera phones and gaming models. If the ergonomics of the new form factor are unsuccessful, then these five models will please fans of widescreen content. In any case, Sony once again reaffirmed its commitment to innovative experiments. Moreover, Sony plans another bold experiment by announcing a model with 8 cameras, including 20-MP f/2.4, 48-MP f/1.2 and f/2, 16-MP f/2.4, 8-MP f/2.4, 12-MP f/1.2 and f/2.4, and 0.5-MP ToF lenses on the rear panel. In addition, it has front 10-MP and 0.3-MP ToF cameras providing Portrait Mode. This video offers a comparison of Sony Xperia 1 vs Huawei P30 Pro. Read the full article

Does Apple have any premium buyers left for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max?
Emerging media narratives suggest that with smartphone sales contracting in many markets globally, there will increasingly be less opportunity for Apple to sell its high-end, ultra premium iPhone models to new buyers. But the reality is that Apple has a vast installed base of iPhone users-- and across the last year, while Apple earned incredible billions selling iPhones, only a small percentage of those users have yet upgraded to its newest, high-end flagships. Apple's fat slice of premium iPhone sales According to data compiled by Neil Cybart of Above Avalon, Apple's iPhone installed base is now around 750 million users. Yet over the last fiscal year, Apple's total iPhone sales were just above 216 million. That's a lot of phones, all of which are "premium" by industry standards. Cybart noted that about 120 million of these new iPhone sales over the past year were Apple's iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Compared to Android licensees, this is incredible, because the vast majority of sales by Samsung, Huawei and other Android makers are lower-priced, entry level models. In contrast, more than half of Apple's new iPhone sales are its most expensive, high-end new flagships -- the very ones that most tech pundits are trying to convince people not to buy and insist that nobody can afford. Apple's most popular model over the last year was iPhone X, its most expensive. That explains why Apple's Average Selling Price was so high hitting nearly $800 during the launch quarter. Samsung, which sells about 320 million phones per year, only sells around 60 million of its flagship Galaxy S and Note models combined, annually. That explains why Samsung's ASP below $250 is so low. Beyond its roughly 20 percent of premium sales, the vast majority of its smartphone units are middle tier and low-end devices, most far below the prices of any of the iPhones Apple sold last year. Other Android makers have an even narrower slice of premium sales. Media sources who try to equate Apple with Android licensees never compare Apple's high-end sales volumes next to competitors. They only compare the market share of all devices shipped, because there is no way to make an Android-flattering comparison in the premium space. Only 15 percent of iPhone users upgraded to the newest tier last year Despite Apple's massive volumes of iPhones sold last year, and its leading volume of ultra premium models that outsold comparable high-end devices from Samsung by two times, the much larger installed base of iPhone users means that only a minor fraction of all iPhone users upgraded to the latest iPhones over the last year. The vast majority of iPhone users in the installed base (i.e. 85%) did not buy an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X. https://t.co/Bhh73Wskrb pic.twitter.com/BurfT8WXJm-- Neil Cybart (@neilcybart) September 18, 2018 Some fragment of Apple's highest end-sales were sold to Android switchers, but there is a very limited pool of premium Android users. It might sound bad that "only" a small percentage of iPhone users upgraded to an 8 or X model last year, but the corollary is more interesting for industry watchers. This really means that Apple sits on a bank of users who are the most valuable demographic of premium electronics buyers. They buy the most apps, pay for more services, and subscribe to more premium content. They buy premium peripherals, they want higher-end phones and are the most likely to spring for new technology. They largely do not have any interest in shopping around for Android, in part because they are invested in Apple's ecosystem, but also because Android increasingly offers less in the way of premium offerings. Years ago, some Android models exclusively debuted 4G LTE data; much larger screens; better camera features; and unique technologies like NFC, stereo speakers or waterproofing. Meanwhile, Apple has faster processing, better displays, better apps, better messaging, better integration and better privacy. This uncontroversial reality is rarely mentioned in the tech media, because once you know this, all of the drama dissipates. Who cares that Google is releasing another Pixel? There aren't enough premium Android buyers in existence to make it a success, even if it were an amazing piece of hardware. Who cares about Andy Rubin's Essential? Finding the money to build next-generation hardware is pointless unless you already have an installed base of likely buyers ready to pay for it. Steve Jobs painfully learned this at NeXT, before demonstrating that he could indeed sell his product if only he had Apple's audience to sell it to. And, Rubin found this out the hard way. The hype-fest among premium makers without premium buyers is the same for Samsung. Not only has the Galaxy S9 not rivaled Apple's iPhone X?, but it isn't even replacing sales of older Galaxy S8 or S7 models. Samsung's premium sales are headed downward, in part because Google is promoting the idea of super cheap Android hardware in between stabs at releasing an iPhone-priced Pixel phone of its own that literally nobody is looking to buy, outside of very loud media personalities who do not represent real buyers in the market. Apple's bank of premium users is unmatchable The entire idea that Apple is one false move ahead of losing a big chunk of its customers to Samsung or to production from China is pure fiction. Apple has been incrementally building a massive installed base of loyal users for decades. Even if new iPhone sales volumes were to never dramatically expand again, the fact is that the length of their lifespan means that adding over 200 million new iPhones annually preserves and enhances Apple's huge bank of premium buyers. This huge bank of premium buyers are critical in pushing Apple's newest technology. Unlike any other smartphone maker, Apple can invest in very expensive new technologies knowing that it has a massive audience of buyers to sell it to, even if it takes a while to gain momentum. This is what enabled Apple to radically revamp its entire iPhone hardware design and navigation behaviors with iPhone X last year, then turn around and expand that new technology to a portfolio of X flagships this year. It enabled the vast undertaking of the Apple Watch with the slow boil that started at launch, and allowed the custom silicon work and advanced technology that went into AirPods and HomePod. All three of these were initially compared against cheap products from companies that sold high volumes of low-end products. But as years go by, it becomes clear that Apple's new introductions are crushing and outlasting their cheap competitors. This far into the maturing smartphone market, no other phone maker or software platform will now be able to build up a similar base of 750 million premium buyers. The world's remaining potential smartphone buyers are not affluent premium customers. Google knows this, which is why it pays Apple billions to stay on iOS in search, and why it no longer even tries to keep its latest apps exclusive to Android. Android has something like 2 billion people running its free software on their phones, but they do not contribute to commercial activity anywhere near the level of Apple's users. Google has been offering them premium hardware for years and they simply don't buy it. Microsoft also realized this and gave up on even chasing a third place mobile position in the world's largest market for computers. Like Apple, Microsoft tried to chase premium buyers and even worked to support them better. But it simply couldn't achieve a critical mass of buyers needed to keep its software platform afloat. Hardware makers in China and India would like to be able to build a premium base of customers, but the premium segment in both regions has already been dominated by Apple. Pundits like to tell the story that the platform that people start using is the one they get comfortable with and stick with, but that's not true at all. Ten years ago, the majority of smartphone buyers got started using Symbian or Java ME. Apple didn't reach its 750 million iPhone users from their infancy. They switched to using iPhones. And sales patterns make it clear that iPhone users are not switching in significant numbers to other platforms. It's the remaining premium segment of Android that keeps incrementally switching to iOS. Apple won in hardware the way Google won in search, or Facebook in social networking. Large shifts in switching happened long ago when there was a credible series of options to choose between. Today, the only real difference is that Apple won premium users globally; Google and Facebook are only in the West, and have been shut out of China without any real hope of returning. Apple's bank explains a lot about its strategy to date Apple's bank of valuable users also explains why Apple went through extraordinary efforts -- revealed at WWDC 2018 -- to make iOS 12 work better on iPhones it sold years ago. While everyone else has been ditching support for their existing customers with the short term goal of selling them new hardware across the board, Apple has long pursued the goal of supporting iPhones for multiple years. One side effect of this is a much higher resale value for older iPhones, meaning that Apple can sell higher-end premium iPhones that its pool of buyers will readily pay for, knowing that they can recoup some of the cost by selling their still-good iPhone to somebody else in the secondary market. Apple benefits from selling higher-tier products, but also ends up with two App Store customers rather than just one with a drawer full of old, unsupported iPhones at home, doing nobody any good. Analysts have long been wringing their hands and rending their garments at the prospect of iPhone buyers slowing down their replacement pace. But for Apple, that's not a problem. In fact, Apple has been selling people computers with very long replacement cycles for decades. Apple knew what it was doing when it set the operating rules for iOS. It's now in the enviable position of being able to offer luxury class upgrades to a massive pool of premium buyers. From that perspective, the idea that "just" 15 percent of its massive pool of iPhone users fueled profitable sales of 120 million ultra high-end over the past year means that there is a deep thirst for drinking up all the new iPhone tech Apple can juice out this year and next, well into the future. And, that assured demand means Apple can invest liberally in long term efforts aimed at developing new tech to woo its pool of premium buyers to upgrade. Apple has been pursuing the opposite of planned obsolescence. While cynics have claimed that Apple builds new products that forces people to throw away what they already have, the reality is that Apple wants iPhones to have the longest life possible, remaining valuable to the broadest pool of users -- just like Apple's Vice President Lisa Jackson said at the iPhone XS event. Apple -- as the curator of the macOS platform across more than 30 years -- is well aware of the value of a consistent, broad set of development frameworks and hardware in selling new software and peripheral devices. The longer products last and are officially supported, the larger that pool of premium buyers will grow. And, the larger the pool, the greater potential there is for launching new premium offerings and devices-- from Apple Watch to iPhone XS Max to HomePod. It also allows Apple to successfully launch new technologies that support and add value to the ecosystem, such as ARKit and CoreML. The industry has long marveled at the "monthly active users" of social media advertisers and given them stratospheric valuations, as if people have infinite attention spans and voracious appetites for pennies-worth of ad messaging shoveled into their daily existence. Those same pundits seem to have no ability to see that Apple's 750 million iPhone users are extremely valuable in a market where most of the money is earned from selling premium products, and most of the growth is coming from ongoing Services and new emerging wearables and other devices that require a premium audience to succeed. https://goo.gl/pNyGyH

We’ve all had to throw away leftovers or cuts of meat and cheese that spent a little too much time in the fridge or freezer, but vacuum sealing your foods can keep them safe from freezer burn pretty much indefinitely, and dramatically extend their shelf life everywhere else.
It sounds like an expensive proposition, but today only, Amazon’s selling the well-reviewed FoodSaver Starter Kit for just $30, complete with everything you need to get started. That’s the best price ever by over $15, and the first time it’s been under $50 on Amazon since 2012.

The latest at CES: HTC's Netflix for Virtual Reality
The Latest on the CES gadget show in Las Vegas (all times local):
5 p.m.
HTC is launching trackers for its Vive virtual-reality system that users can attach to physical objects such as bats or toy guns in order to make them part of a virtual reality adventure.
During a media briefing at the CES gadget show Wednesday, the company showcased a number of tracker-enabled accessories, including what it says is the first VR camera, multiple rifles built for VR shooters and haptic gloves. The tracker weighs less than three ounces; the company hasn't set a price. To foster more development, the company will give away up to 1,000 trackers to developers.
The company is also launching its first ever app subscription service, which will allow unlimited access to VR apps for a flat monthly fee. That service will launch in early 2017. HTC didn't say how much it will cost.

4 p.m.
Samsung America chief operating officer Tim Baxter opened a flashy press conference Wednesday at CES by acknowledging the "challenging year" Samsung had in 2016 due to its problems with the Galaxy Note 7. The company's flagship smartphone had to be recalled because of its tendency to burst into flame.
Baxter said the company and third parties have been investigating the problem and the company will be sharing its root cause "very soon."

The rest of the conference showcased Samsung's new offerings, including a new form of its quantum dot TV technology called "QLED," which purports to be sharper and more colorful than other TVs. It is adding Samsung proprietary voice control to some smart refrigerators, echoing a voice-control theme seen throughout CES so far.
Samsung is also introducing a washer-dryer combo that can wash two separate loads at once while drying a regular load and delicate items separately.

3 p.m.
A French startup called Wair is bringing a new scarf to CES, one that it says can double as both fashion accessory ... and anti-pollution gas mask.
Wair calls its product, also dubbed Wair, the first "anti-pollution scarf." Worn one way, it's a seemingly normal wrap that's a bit baggy in the middle.
But if air pollution starts to get to you - or if you get an alert from Wair's companion app, called "Supairman" - you can pull it up over your face and seal a respirator mask over your nose and mouth. (At which point the scarf ceases to look particularly chic.)
The scarf is supposed to contain an embedded filter that can remove dust, gases and bacteria. It's unclear just how effective it will be, although the startup notes that the filter will need changing every two to four weeks, at roughly $5 to $10 each time.
The product is expected to ship in a few months, starting at about $55 for men and $90 for women.

2 p.m.
Ah l'amour. One of the most whimsical gadgets at CES is the Lovebox, a device that doesn't have much further use than wrapping up a text message like a present.
The wooden box plugs into an outlet and connects to Wi-Fi. A heart on the outside spins if you get a message. It will keep spinning until you open the lid. A digital screen then displays the message, ideally a message of love.
You decide who can send you love notes through the Lovebox mobile app. Messages are limited to 160 characters. You can reply with a digital heart by rotating the heart on the box.
The box comes from the French startup. It launched in France over Christmas and is due to hit the United States in June.
True love, of course, comes at a price: $120 for one box or $220 for two.

12:35 p.m.
Nest and other home security systems let you spy on your home if something seems awry. Now you can spy on your groceries.
British company Smarter is launching the Fridge Cam, a small round camera for your fridge. It takes a picture every time you close your fridge door, so you can see if you need bread or sundries if you're at the store. It also uses visual recognition tools to alert you if you need to replace something. You can sign up for automatic reorders via the app, and it can alert you when products are due to expire.
Similar technology is already built into smart refrigerators, but those are pricey - Samsung's Family Hub starts at $5,600. Smarter's Barnaby Sellars says you can instead "spend $149 and turn your refrigerator smart."
The product is among those being demonstrated at the CES gadget show in Las Vegas this week.

Gap is testing a smartphone app that will let customers try on clothes without stepping foot in a dressing room.
Also Read: Lenovo unveils Alexa powered Smart Asistant, Smart Storage and Gaming PCs at CES 2017
Gap's DressingRoom app uses avatars to help people understand how products will fit. People can then buy what fits online.
Gap calls this augmented reality, a technology that involves overlaying virtual images - such as clothing - on top of a real-life image. But in this case, the choices are limited to five pre-determined body types, rather than the actual photo of the potential buyer. The AR part is just the ability to physically walk around the avatar to see how clothing looks from various directions.
The app will come out this month, but will work only with phones sporting Google's Tango augmented-reality technology - namely Lenovo's Phab2 Pro and Asus' just-announced ZenFone AR. The clothing chain, which also operates Banana Republic and Old Navy stores, unveiled the app Wednesday at the CES gadget show in Las Vegas.
Wayfair, Home Depot and other retailers have been embracing virtual reality and augmented reality to help shoppers figure out ways to decorate homes. But clothing retailers have been slow to embrace the technology. The question is whether it will be something more than just a gimmick.
The move by Gap comes as shoppers spend less on clothing and more on experiences like beauty treatments. When customers do buy clothes, they're increasingly going online. Gap has also been struggling with a lack of compelling clothing, resulting in a long-standing sales slump.

A startup carmaker, Faraday Future, is promising again to have electric cars roll off a new $1 billion assembly line in southern Nevada in 2018.
Faraday showed off a prototype at the CES gadget show in Las Vegas. Tuesday's demonstration had the company's four-door, 1,050-horsepower FF 91 model clocking 0-to-60 mph in just under 2.4 seconds.
Faraday Future officials say the car's battery allows a travel range of up to 378 miles, and a modular design will allow for a faster rollout of future models.
Company executive Nick Sampson didn't say when construction would resume at the factory site, where work was suspended in November. Nevada pledged up to $335 million worth of incentives to attract Gardena, California-based Faraday Future to North Las Vegas.

Carnival, the operator of such cruise lines as Princess, Holland America and Carnival, is unveiling new concierge technology designed to help crew members anticipate and respond to passengers' needs.
A waiter, for instance, could bring a guest's favorite cocktail before she asks, or someone could remind a lounging guest that a yoga class is about to start.
Carnival hopes to boost loyalty and ultimately sales.
The development comes as the leisure-cruise industry plays catch-up with travel peers like hotels and airlines, which now let you unlock rooms with a smartwatch or fly with a boarding pass on your phone. Carnival is announcing the system on Wednesday at the CES gadget show in Las Vegas. It's scheduled to debut on the Regal Princess cruise ship in November.

Research firm Gartner says it expects worldwide shipments of PCs, tablets, phones and other gadgets to remain unchanged in 2017.
Gartner says it expects 2.3 billion such devices to ship this year, the same as in 2016. This finding comes as gadget makers unveil all sorts of new products at the CES tech show in Las Vegas this week.
Looking ahead, Gartner says the embattled PC market should return to growth in 2018, thanks to a natural cycle of upgrades. That's mostly driven by an increase in premium "ultramobiles" - including ultra-slim Windows 10 devices and Apple's MacBook Air.
Smartphones are expected to grow just slightly; much of the growth is in emerging Asia and Pacific markets.
In a report Wednesday, Gartner research director Ranjit Atwal says consumers have fewer reasons to upgrade or to buy traditional devices. Rather, he says, "they are seeking fresher experiences and applications in emerging categories such as head mounted displays, virtual personal assistant speakers and wearables."
---
8:50 a.m.
New television sets from LG will include an ultra-slim model that's less than 4 millimeters (0.15 inch) thick.
The company is achieving this by moving many of the bulky components - such as graphic cards - into a separate box connected to the screen with just a cord. The speakers are also separated; the TV has two round, retractable speakers on top.
The new TV will also have better audio, using Dolby Atmos technology, along with high-end OLED screen technology. OLED - which stands for organic light-emitting diode - can produce better pictures because each pixel produces light individually. Traditional TVs are backlit and use filters to block out light - but not well enough to produce pure black. OLED is rare in TVs and is currently found mostly in smartphones.
LG will have non-OLED models, too, and promises new technology to make colors more vibrant. LG also says an LG Technicolor mode will be added to TVs in 2017 to add to color accuracy.
Samsung, LG, Sony and others are unveiling new offerings at CES that highlight higher-resolution pictures, thinner displays and brighter colors. The moves come as high-definition and 4K TVs are becoming cheaper and more mainstream, so top TV makers are competing for the higher end of the market.
LG says it will release prices in February and start selling them in March.
---
8:15 a.m.
What's new in television sets this year? Incrementally better pictures, larger screens and cheaper prices - and that's about it.
True, set manufacturers are bombarding consumers with a whole series of buzzwords - such as OLED, HDR and wide color gamut. Flashy new sets with these supposedly "must have" features are getting the spotlight Wednesday at the annual CES gadget show in Las Vegas.
But when it comes down to it, none of these amount to revolutionary improvements for your living room. Set manufacturers may not have run out of technological tricks yet, but for this year, at least, they're reduced to improving what's already out there.
Gadgets like virtual-reality headsets and smartphones have snagged much of the buzz that flashy new TVs once had. And stand-alone streaming-TV devices now offer better features than smart TVs. So TV makers like Samsung and LG have doubled down on what they know best: screen technology.
"4K" sets with twice the resolution as high definition is making a push into the mainstream this year, as prices come down and video providers offer more 4K streaming and channels. Manufacturers are also touting improvements in color - brighter whites, darker blacks and a wider range.

7 a.m.
Comcast is hoping to make Wi-Fi in the home faster through an updated router - the machine that serves as data traffic cops for Wi-Fi networks.
Although home internet speeds have gotten faster, laptops and phones on Wi-Fi might still feel sluggish because older routers can't transmit data as fast.
Comcast's updated router costs $10 a month and comes with a modem. It's the same price as before. Customers can still buy their own equipment and save money over time. Comcast is also offering extenders to help Wi-Fi work all over a house, though the company wouldn't say what it might charge.
Also Read: Lenovo unveils Alexa powered Smart Asistant, Smart Storage and Gaming PCs at CES 2017
Eero, Starry, Google and Luma are among the companies that have fancy new router systems, but they start at more than $100 and run as much as $500.
Fewer than 5 million Comcast customers, mostly those on the most expensive internet packages, will get the new high-powered router this year. The company says it could take years to reach the bulk of its more than 24 million customers.
Another 10 million customers with the company's existing routers will get a software update by March to make it easier to set up parental controls and install "smart" thermostats and other internet-connected appliances. These features also come with the new routers.

Samsung Galaxy M31s Detailed Review Samsung Galaxy M31s incorporates an Infinity-O AMOLED Display. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Samsung Galaxy M31 figured out how to have a decent effect in the spending fragment on account of its fresh AMOLED show and a major battery, which recognized it from the opposition. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The telephone has a plastic back, which Samsung alludes to as 'Glasstic'. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Regarding programming, the Galaxy M31s run OneUI 2.1 on the head of Android 10. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I saw the side-mounted unique mark scanner as brisk to open the gadget. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s cameras: Mixed sack The Samsung Galaxy M31s sports a quad-camera arrangement. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The wide-point camera offers a more extensive field of view yet there is bending, and photographs are twisted at the edges. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s daylight camera sample (tap to see full-size image)                                                      (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s daylight wide-angle camera sample (tap to see full-size image)                                          In low light, the Galaxy M31s oversaw respectable shots and held clamor within proper limits. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s low-light camera sample (tap to see full-size image)                                                     Samsung Galaxy M31s close-up sample (tap to see full-size image)                                                                  Video recording finishes out at 4K with the essential camera just as the selfie shooter.
