After getting a good look at Land of Departure in-game, I am now more convinced that LoD may somehow be the last remnant of Scala.
It has deep valleys with shallow rivers in it, as if the water surrounding Scala was drained. There are countless mountains surrounding the main structure that might be what the Scala cities were built on top of.
Not to mention all the crumbling ruins. There's a broken bridge on the summit of the tutorial mountain that leads nowhere. That implies that there used to be more buildings around, but they're all gone now.
The geography of this place feels almost too perfect for a twist like this.

ok ok khml beta spoilers (part one of whatever this is going to be idk i'm just gonna ramble about my thoughts and observations)
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh wah awa wahhhhhh i want this game now i won't lie to you this looks really cool i can't believe it's real. or a mobile game for that matter. imagine this as a full console game. imagine khux and khdr as this. insane
remus... nice!!! can we like. see him in full lighting though so i could get a good sense of his color scheme. ok i like this guy already i like his casual/rude vibes and the way he talks
i hope he has a brother named romulus and i hope romulus kills him it needs to happen sorry. idc whether it's shock value or something very narratively heavy i need fratricide in this game idc
so they're doing the good old 'every other character in the cutscene is gonna be voiced except the protagonist whose dialogue just shows up silently but their mouth still moves' thing huh. can't wait to see how this plays out. looks like player is still gonna have limited dialogue overall so that works. but like man i kinda wish they'd just give player a canon voice or two or three. imagine that being something you could choose
i'm gonna read too deeply into player's amnesia including their name but not including their fighting ability. like they could've had you type in a name during the character creation screen and had player respond to the question later but nope we specifically establish that they don't remember and have to make one up on the spot. you know what they do remember though? combat. weapons. carrying out their missions as a keyblade wielder, all they were ever meant to do. gonna be normal about this for sure
the scala world card... DUDE...
so after multiple joke posts we finally have a real freya... i don't know why i'm surprised. dunno if i vibe with her full outfit yet (i think the red jacket uniform is kinda overbearing and might get old fast if both she and remus and probably at least 20 other characters will have it but in a cleaner or more stylized render i'd love it probably) but like dude the cat ear accessories... were those there last time? did i not notice them last time? those are perfect
literally ALL of this music is so cheerful... the dearly beloved is super upbeat, the new field theme for scala and the astral plane and combat and the tutorial menus etc etc... it's so strange. i KNOW they're hiding the absolute tragedy from us. goth aesthetic combined with whimsical peaceful tunes. what's happening here
the. the pit... that's their portal?? when you wanna go to the astral plane you jump in The Machinery Hell Pit? absolutely not you would never convince me to do that
so begins the gacha/microtransaction hell. i sure hope it's easy enough to get whatever ingame currency there is through other means
i'm actually loving the amount of customization options dude that's so cool

The elemental HBG guide no one asked for!
Why use elemental HBG?
you're bored of orcus quarcus
you have a bunch of spare monster parts and zenny laying around you don't know what to do with
you want to kill the monster with the same speed (or maybe even faster) as raw HBG but with more part breaks
it's powerful. if you don't believe me, check out this speedrun.
If one or more of these apply then this guide is for you! I should probably also note that the sets depicted are built with some pretty-hard-to-obtain materials, so this guide is better for those who are way way late in the game. I'm also going to assume you're familiar with valor HBG and its mechanics, so if you're not check out GaijinHunter's videos on youtube. He does a great job of explaining!
Anyway. Elemental piercing internal ammo is super underrated. It does insane damage, and I think people should use it. I have five sets to show, each with a different HBG but with the same base armor, that don't require god charms! So let's look at the base armor first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Base armor:
Hayabusa Feather
Fatalis Crimsonskin XR
Escadora Arma XR
Glyph Tassets XR
Escadora Scala XR
This will give you the base skills:
Expert + 15 (Crit Eye +2)
Elemental + 11 (Element Atk Up)
Crit Element + 10 (Elemental Crit)
Tenderizer + 8 (Weakness Exploit)
Haphazard + 2 (TrueShot Up)
Ignore the Thunder Atk+1 on my build; that is the talisman I have. If you can, it's good to add extra elemental attack onto your build, but it's not that big of a difference. Just nice to have. Charms with at least 10 points in extra elemental atk aren't hard to come by.
You will have to slot in the extra points for tenderizer and haphazard. You want to make sure that either your weapon or your talisman has two slots available. All of the HBGs used in this tutorial have at least two slots.
If you're not familiar with what the skills above do:
Crit eye + 2 increases affinity by 20%.
Elemental increases elemental ammo atk by 12.5% (as opposed to the melee 20%).
Crit element increases the elemental damage of critical hits.
Weakness exploit increases affinity by 50% when hitting the monster's weak spot.
Haphazard increases the power of internal ammo, which is the main ammo we will be using. (It also boosts power shots if you are a bow user).
One thing to note is that if your HBG doesn't have a recoil of "some" or lower, you're going to want to slot in some lower recoil. If the recoil is "avg," use recoil + 1, and if the recoil is "high," use recoil + 2. HBG is basically unusable if the recoil is avg or higher because the firing animation is way too long to have good dps, and it also leaves you vulnerable to attacks.
And of course, we never have to worry about reload speed when we're using valor.
If you want to customize your armor, check out this website. It's super useful for building mixed sets. I use it all the time.
If you're unsure of how to get the Hayabusa Feather, check out this forum post.
The five guns I'll be showcasing are the Thundercrash Blaster (Lagiacrus), Valia Cannon (Barioth), Mountainous Torrent (Mizutsune), Crow Heirloom (Yian Garuga), and Yukumo Auragun. So let's get into those.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Thundercrash Blaster (Lagiacrus). This is hands-down the best elemental HBG out of the ones I have to show. The recoil on this weapon is only "some," which means you don't have to slot in recoil and you can put in another skill (like thunder atk).
Internal ammo:
50 P. Thunder lv1
48 P. Thunder lv2
5 Armor S
20 Slicing S lv1
18 Slicing S lv2
Crouching fire:
15 Normal S lv3
12 Thunder lv1
Already the internal ammo is really good. You have high stock of piercing elemental thunder, so you're unlikely to run out of ammo before you kill the monster. The slicing ammo is also a really nice addition. It does good damage when paired with TrueShot, and it's fast for building the valor gauge. If you do run out of internal ammo though, the crouching fire normal 3 and thunder 1 are also really nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Mountainous Torrent (Mizutsune). This is the HBG used in the speedrun I showed you. Some people prefer to use the Soulseer HBG, but it's all a matter of preference. I like this one because it has two slots and more internal ammo. The recoil on this gun is "some," so no recoil skills are required.
Internal ammo:
36 Water S lv2
50 P. Water S lv1
45 P. Water S lv2
Crouching fire:
12 Water S lv1
12 Water S lv2
Again, lots of piercing elemental internal ammo. You're unlikely to run out. If you do, you can siege water ammo. Elemental ammo does decent damage when you have elemental skills equipped.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Valia Cannon (Barioth). This gun has a recoil of "avg," so make sure to slot in recoil + 1. This probably means that you won't be able to slot in extra ice attack, but oh well. You win some you lose some. It's good to have a talisman that's recoil + 6 with 3 slots. Otherwise this HBG is pretty bitchin. It also has an extra 30% affinity.
Internal ammo:
50 Sting S
50 P. Freeze lv1
40 P. Freeze lv2
Crouching fire:
12 Pierce S lv2
12 P. Freeze lv1
12 P. Freeze lv2
Good stock of internal ammo. I'm not entirely sure how much damage sting ammo does, but apparently it's affective on weak parts. You can siege that P. Freeze ammo, so you can kill the monster even faster, wow! And if you run out, there's a nice stock of Pierce S lv2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crow Heirloom (Yian Garuga). I honestly really struggled to find a solid fire HBG, but this is the best I could muster. Avg recoil, so use recoil + 1.
Internal ammo:
50 P. Flaming S lv1
5 Poison Smoke S
Crouching fire:
12 Flaming S lv1
6 Poison S lv1
12 P. Flaming S lv1
The stock of internal ammo on this one is kinda mid. It would be nice if it had P. Flaming lv2 as well, but it doesn't. The only thing Poison smoke is good for is killing small bugs. It's nice that you can siege fire the P. Flaming and regular flaming though. The main gripe that I have with this gun is that if you run out of internal ammo, you're fucked. Remember, you can only combine an extra 20 Flaming S lv1 on the hunt, so be careful when you manage your resources. I think this HBG works really well when you're going up against one monster. But if you're going up against multiple monsters or a monster with massive health, I would use the Yukumo Auragun.
It has a good capacity of 11 for Normal S lv3 though, which is somewhat of a safety net.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yukumo Auragun. This gun is a little odd, but still really good. It has piercing internal ammo for both fire and water, so it can be an alternative to the Crow's Heirloom if you're going on a longer hunt or a hunt with monsters weak to fire and water (such as A Titanic Clash, where you fight Agnaktor and Duramboros). I wouldn't use it as your main water gun because it's outclassed by the Mountainous Torrent. It also has 3 slots, which is really nice.
Internal Ammo:
54 P. Flaming S lv1
50 P. Flaming S lv2
54 P. Water S lv1
50 P. Water S lv2
Crouching fire:
15 Normal S lv3
12 Pellet S lv1
Again, good stock of internal ammo. It can't siege fire any of these, but it can siege Normal S lv3. Don't use pellet. No one likes that shit.
Akantor Descent might also be a good fire HBG to check out. It has P. Flaming lv2 and can siege fire some normal and piercing ammo. It also has 40% affinity. No slots though. Lots of people use this gun for normal ammo sets, if you're into that.
You might be wondering, why no dragon element? Because "dragon" ammo is basically gunlance's wyvern fire, but for gun. You have to be close to the monster for it to work, and it's a long animation. It's good for wakeup hits, but that's about it.
And that's about it for my elemental HBG guide. If you want to experiment with different guns, check out the HBG list on kirinico, and type ctrl + f to search for the ammo you want. And as always, bring combo materials, and make sure to register and sort your sets!
If you're unsure of what a certain internal ammo does, you can check the details on Capcom's official site.
I know this is a lot of information and might be overwhelming, but trust me it is SO worth it. I've never killed monsters faster!
Thanks for reading, and let me know if I got something wrong or if you want to show me a more optimal set, and I'll append it to this post.

The Scala symbolises “scalable language” and is a modern multi-paradigm and hybrid functional programming language. Its first version was released in 2003 by Martin Odersky, who is the developer of this programming language. This programming language has been designed to grow with its users’ demands and it means that Scala grows with you. Put in simple words, you can express common programming patterns very elegantly, concisely and in a very type-safe manner. In fact, Scala can be applied to a variety of programming tasks and for large mission critical systems, from writing small scripts to constructing large systems. The language smoothly integrates splendid attributes of object-oriented and functional languages. The Java Virtual Machine is used by Scala upon which it is compiled to run on it. There are many well-known companies relying on Java for the sole purpose of critical applications associated with business and all these are increasingly adopting this language with the core objective of enhancing the scalability of applications, development productivity and the reliability as a whole. Learning scala programming is not a cake walk. Its takes a while to get used to functional programming paradigm. For beginners we recommend reading good scala books along with practice exercises recommended on interactive programming sites. Scala is gaining popularity and here are some reasons that make it choice of many developers. What Is Scala Below is a simple playlist of tutorials that explains what is scala and why its needed. The Goal of Scala at a Glance The goal of Scala was to develop a sophisticated programming language that provides better support for component software. In this regard, two hypotheses were developed: Programming language needs to be scalable for component software The same notions illustrate small and large parts Instead of integrating countless primitives, the main concentration is on abstraction, composition, and decomposition Language that combines object-oriented programming and functional programming can give scalable assistance for components Behold the following crucial and fabulous attributes, which make the programing language of Scala the highly desirable choice of the companies that are the application developers: Scala Is Elegant When it comes to exploring the features and other aspects of Scala languages then one of the main features of the Scala can be assumed as elegance. In a broader context, this language offers so much elegance as programmers are able to solve different kinds of real issues in an elegant manner. At the same time, Scala uses one of the most commonly used platforms such as JVM (Java Virtual Machine).  The JVM is still perceived as a fast platform despite the fact that it is not being considered as cutting edge as compared to other options these days. The elegance level of Scala can be rightly imagined with the help of this aspect that it allows users to use various kinds of functional approaches in object oriented designs. Object-Oriented Everything looks like an object in Scala. Every value is an object and all the operations are the method-call and for this very reason, Scala is a pure object-oriented programming language, such as Java, Smalltalk, Python, Ruby, and others. The language has classes and traits that support and describe advanced component architectures, types and nature of objects. In other languages, there are numerous conventional design patterns and these are already natively supported. One of the best examples here is singletons and visitors. Object definitions support singletons and pattern matching support visitors. Scala uses implicit classes and that’s why it is able to let the user to add more new operations to prevailing classes, and it does not matter where they come from, Scala or Java. Functional Scala is not only an object-oriented programming language, but it also a full-blown functional language. It is also functional as all the functions are a value as well as an object because every value is an object.
In fact, the language gives you an excellent experience as it has everything a user can anticipate. What a user can expect: first-rate functions and a library with well-organised absolute and unchallengeable data structures. Besides these, it also has general preference of immutability over mutation. Other aspects of this feature are that the language facilitates users with a trivial syntax to define anonymous or unidentified functions, while providing support to higher-order functions. Moreover, the language also lets functions to be nested, while supporting currying. Scala is quite different from a wide variety of conventional programming languages that have functional nature. The reason behind this is that Scala allows a slow but steady and easy movement to a more functional style.  It can be started as a “Java without semicolons”, and with the passage of time, a user can go forward to slowly but surelyeradicate mutable state in the applications rather than phasing in smooth functional composition patterns. Indeed, this progression is frequently a best idea. Scala can also be used with any style of your preference as the language is not opinionated. Runs on Java Yes, Scala runs on Java by compiling into Java Byte Code which is performed by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The classes in both Scala and Java languages can be mixed very easily and freely, and it does not matter whether they exist indiverse or in projects. This nature of Scala points out that there is a common runtime platform in both languages.  It also implies that if a company is using Java, Scala can be easily integrated by the company because this programming language is more flexible and can be easily integrated in the company’s existing architecture. Scala and Java can even equally refer to one another, as a subset of a Java compiler is contained in Scala compiler because it helps in making sense of such recursive reliance.  It can be said that Scala is a different programming language but its runtime is same as Java. Functions are Objects The approach of Scala is exceptional and different as a set of core constructs is developed by it and such a set can be blended very flexibly, and this also applies to its two splendid features of object-orientation and functional. From both angles, features and attributes are amalgamated to an extent where these two natures of the language can be viewed as two different sides of the same coin. Other Features of Scala in a Nutshell Scala is both functional and object-oriented at the same time every value is an object and every function is a value Scala immensely supports lightweight syntax for anonymous, higher-order and nested functions, and currying Support consistently for regular expression patterns ML-style pattern matching Integration with XML can write XML directly in Scala programming language can convert XML DTD into Scala class definitions Permits to define new structures to control devoid of using macros, while maintaining static typing Any type of function can be used as an infix or postfix operator Popularity Of Scala on Google Below is a snapshot of scala search trends based on Google search. Scala is clearly the most popular choice in functional programming languages.  In fact, Scala was especially designed with the core objective of being a more improved and better programming language, shedding such facets of Java which it considered restrictive.By exploring the above mentioned fabulous features, it seems that Scala programming language is the future of programming in any type of environment.  It also seems very obvious that Scala as a more concise and more powerful language has definitely a great future, and its overall influence with strong features may also assisting make Java better. This article is contributed by John Kelly and Kate Silverton. John Kelly is a professional and experienced blog writer as well education counsellor. Recently he joined with an essay
writing service, Best Essay Point to provide assistance and guidance to the students regarding education career. Kate Silverton is an experienced programmer by profession and these days she is associated with DissertationHelpLove renowned academy house. Apart from her professional commitments, she takes time in order to interact with different programmers on various social media platforms so that they can attain updated information about different programming languages in a better way.

Apache Spark Stored Procedures Arrive in BigQuery
Tumblr media
Apache Spark tutorial
Large data volumes can be handled with standard SQL by BigQuery’s highly scalable and powerful SQL engine, which also provides advanced features like BigQuery ML, remote functions, vector search, and more. To expand BigQuery data processing beyond SQL, you might occasionally need to make use of pre-existing Spark-based business logic or open-source Apache Spark expertise. For intricate JSON or graph data processing, for instance, you might want to use community packages or legacy Spark code that was written before BigQuery was migrated. In the past, this meant you had to pay for non-BigQuery SKUs, enable a different API, utilize a different user interface (UI), and manage inconsistent permissions. You also had to leave BigQuery.
Google was created an integrated experience to extend BigQuery’s data processing capabilities to Apache Spark in order to address these issues, and they are pleased to announce the general availability (GA) of Apache Spark stored procedures in BigQuery today. BigQuery users can now create and run Spark stored procedures using BigQuery APIs, allowing them to extend their queries with Spark-based data processing. It unifies Spark and BigQuery into a unified experience that encompasses billing, security, and management. Code written in Scala, Java, and PySpark can support Spark procedures.
Here are the comments from DeNA, a BigQuery customer and supplier of internet and artificial intelligence technologies”A seamless experience with unified API, governance, and billing across Spark and BigQuery is provided by BigQuery Spark stored procedures. With BigQuery, they can now easily leverage our community packages and Spark expertise for sophisticated data processing.
PySpark
Create evaluate and implement PySpark code within BigQuery Studio
To create, test, and implement your PySpark code, BigQuery Studio offers a Python editor as part of its unified interface for all data practitioners. In addition to other options, procedures can be configured with IN/OUT parameters. Iteratively testing the code within the UI is possible once a Spark connection has been established. The BigQuery console displays log messages from underlying Spark jobs in the same context for debugging and troubleshooting purposes. By providing Spark parameters to the process, experts in Spark can further fine-tune Spark execution.
PySpark SQL
After testing, the process is kept in a BigQuery dataset, and it can be accessed and controlled in the same way as your SQL procedures.
Apache Spark examples
Utilizing a large selection of community or third-party packages is one of Apache Spark’s many advantages. BigQuery Spark stored procedures can be configured to install packages required for code execution.
You can import your code from Google Cloud Storage buckets or a custom container image from the Container Registry or Artifact Registry for more complex use cases. Customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK) and the use of an existing service account are examples of advanced security and authentication options that are supported. BigQuery billing combined with serverless execution
With this release, you can only see BigQuery fees and benefit from Spark within the BigQuery APIs. Our industry-leading Serverless Spark engine, which enables serverless, autoscaling Spark, is what makes this possible behind the scenes. But when you use this new feature, you don’t have to activate Dataproc APIs or pay for Dataproc. Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) pricing for the Enterprise edition (EE) will be applied to your usage of Spark procedures. All BigQuery editions, including the on-demand model, have this feature. Regardless of the edition, you will be charged for Spark procedures with an EE PAYG SKU. See BigQuery pricing for further information.
